    nice work, excellent production values, easy to watch. A suggestion on the ban marie for the flan (that most of us learn the hard way): put the casserole on the oven rack empty, move the flan cups to the casserole, then add water from a pitcher (boiling water is best for some recipes). This completely eliminates most disastrous spills.

    That's just pure brilliance. What I love about your videos is that you're really clear about the technique for making the food. If you don't have the money, you can still follow the instructions with lesser ingredients and still eat well. For example, in that last recipe, I didn't have full-fat milk, instead I had two litres of fat-free milk that had only cost me 4p instead of £2.00 because it was reduced-to-clear at the end of the day.
    I followed you recipe and what I ended up with was pretty damn good. It probably wasn't anything like as good as your original recipe, but it was really good food. It made my life better. It's a small thing for you, perhaps, but it was a big thing for me.

    Thank you for your recipes. Have you ever heard of adding sherry to the torijas recipe? My mom is from Jerez de la Frontera and says that is how they make it. I imagine the sherry is added to the egg mixture or the bread is dipped in sherry before dipping in egg mixture. She doesn’t quite remember and I’d like to make it for her birthday.

    • @SpainonaFork
      @SpainonaFork  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes add the sherry to the egg mixture, that way of making it is more typical of the south of Spain :) Much love

    Y los churros? lol...using sweetened condensed milk as part of the milk will dissolve better than sugar...try some cream cheese or shredded coconut in there..mmm OH..don't overbeat the flan..u don't want bubbles..totally changes the texture..less creamy.

    I just found out through this video that the "leche flan" which is a famous dessert in the Philippines originated in Spain. The procedure and ingredients are the same. Except that we don't add lemon juice but only lemon zest to the flan. I said originated because Philippines was colonized by Spain for 300 years.

    In the US, we call it French toast and serve it for breakfast and it's incredibly common -- one of the first recipes you teach a child to make as it's simple and fun to make. Normally we fry individual pieces on the stovetop, but you can make big batches in the oven like here...th-cam.com/video/-6joNSLxhgs/w-d-xo.html
