Everyone who's complaining about Pattinson not portraying the playboy Bruce doesn't realize that's what he did in the comics, especially Scott Snyders Zero year run. He was a recluse and a bit of an asshole to people. It wasn't until later in the series that he wanted to bring Bruce Wayne in the light too, running Wayne industries, etc. So it's an accurate depiction.
Yes.. As per Jungian archetypes.. This batman shows the "Depressed Lover" archetype.. He is not a person who can be a swooning playboy. People dont understand different character types.
This style of review is 100% really working for you. The way your voice sounds and the way you deliver your written thoughts comes off very nicely. It sounds put together, but like "you" like you're explaining your real time thoughts as they came to you at the same time. Definitely a format you should do more of in my opinion. Like this cross between vlog and video essay. In addition to just the presentation style of this review, i also just really liked what you had to say. It was a great balance of describing what all you liked and didn't like, but without spoiling anything, but also without being so vague that i had no idea what you're talking about. I feel like i got a detailed feel of what the movie feels like while also still not knowing anything outside of what the trailers showed. Some spoiler-free reviews other people do can be very... Empty, in that basically all they are saying is "yes, it was good. The acting was good. The story, was good. Movie good." Whereas you were able to deeper than that while still not revealing things that were important to someone else's first time viewing experience (like by not naming the two police characters who's voices stuck out to you so that people who may not be put off by that won't be looking for it when they watch the movie). I liked the comparisons to Seven you made and the other like true cinema nerd/student things you mention here (and i think a deep dive spoiler review going into that would do you well as you're clearly really observant and intelligent and i think you'd be able to expand this into a longer spoiler enabled review later). You done good.
Matt Reeves is the reason I want to see this movie! I have been a fan of his creativity since Felicity. He and J J Abrams made that show, and Matt was the one who had the sign over his office that said "Make it Emotional" ~ Matt knows what he is doing! Can't wait to see it!

This was a really good review. Kinda liked this setup more. I mean yes the later videos can be just one angle where guys just talk looking into the camera, but the first review of the movies can be like this one. Looking forward to watch this movie now. 😁
The slower editing style was a breath of fresh air for me. Especially during action scenes. Being able to see that fight choreography in nice wide shots without cutting on every hit is chef's kiss.

Great review. I really like this style of reviewing. I haven't seen the film yet, I will tomorrow night. The movie just feels like it is the most accurate portrayal of Batman, Gotham City and the rest of the characters from what I've seen from the trailers and read from the reviews. I can see why some people won't like it, as it's slower paced with less action. The film is a noir detective story, and I love that personally. It also feels like it's world building while telling the origins of the villains and him becoming a symbol of hope, and again I personally love that because having a Batverse has been a dream of mine. I can't wait for this, the sequels and spinoffs.

Watched the movie today. The background score was great and I liked how Robert Pattinson has shed away the persona of Edward Cullen from Twilight series. Also the different relationship with Alfred as here Robert Pattinson doesn't think him as his father but only a helper whereas Christian Bale's relationship was much more father-son relationship. The other thing I liked how in the end Bruce Wayne doesn't mind showing up at the villain's place without the cape.
10:40 honestly I thinks this makes it better becquse Batman is not only a guy on a suit that beats the living shit out of people, he’s also a detective which sometimes some people forget, in The justice league movie we don’t see much of the detective side of batman, reason why I love christopher Nolan’s trilogy.

The pacing serves it's purpose, I believe - as my housemate said when we left the theatre, this FELT like reading a comic book. And it was really awesome to see a version of Batman that highlights two qualities that are often overlooked in live-action - patience and deliberation. It's what makes him a fantastic detective, and also an incredibly intimidating presence in general. I do like this movie, but I'm finding my response is muted - there are some brilliant ideas in here, but also a couple that just made my Batfan brain break a little bit...

BTAS is great. I wouldn’t say it is “definitive,” there are some inaccuracies, which wouldn’t be much of an issue except that it created some misconceptions about Batman, but it is definitely fantastic.

I agree with you. I have loved many Batman movies, but I didn't love them because of Batman, I loved them because of the villains. This was the first Batman movie where I actually found Batman himself the most compelling character in the movie. And that is saying something because the primary villain in this movie was pretty scary...and felt all too real.

Hey Jaby, your review was amazing at point. I loved the way you described the depiction of The Batman. I just feel one more thing, there was too much of Batman and very less of Bruce Wayne. After a while, I lost the excitement of seeing Batman on the screen after some scenes. Also, you rightly mentioned that it's not trying to be an out and out action film. Whenever u add in someone they usually praise almost all movies, tbh most of the movies now crap. And they don't provide any new insights as to why they think it is good despite it flaws.
Whereas when u do reviews alone, u say the positives and negatives and clearly explain what type movie it is, who can enjoy it, whether the movie is high intelligence one or super action flick or a run of the mill popcorn super hero movie.

Hey Jaby, your review was amazing at point. I loved the way you described the depiction of The Batman. I just feel one more thing, there was too much of Batman and very less of Bruce Wayne. After a while, I lost the excitement of seeing Batman on the screen after some scenes. Also, you rightly mentioned that it's not trying to be an out and out action film. I watched it in IMAX and I did feel any different from a normal Audi. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, love your videos!!
