You have my heart, I pray you are healing from your truama and are finding much peace with Christ, the Catholic faith is so wildly comforting and consoling. I have never heard the perspective of a woman Jew. That was very informative for me.
Just wanted to comment on one of things I thought that you said was interesting. Now that I am married as a catholic I usually look at the ground when men pass by and really try to minimize eye contact unless it’s a man I need to talk to or someone I work with. That’s just choice.

I think there is a great deal of similarity between Catholicism and Judaism, not in doctrine but in the way both are integral to our lives. Neither are about just going to church or synagogues once a week. Both have strong communities, both are very involved with social justice issues. Both effect every detail of your life.

I was raised in a shomer mitzvos immigrant Jewish community and found Judaism very stifling. I was and am very much a contemplative-type person so naturally was drawn to traditional Latin Rite Catholicism after I came to believe in Christ as the Mashiach. I found the modern post Vatican 2 Latin Rite to be too much like protestantism so I have spent the last 43 years since my conversion going between the traditional Latin Rite and the Byzantine Ruthenian Rite.

The Tridentine Latin Mass has the Jewish Passover Prayers said in the Temple in Jerusalem that Jesus attended with His Apostles on the night He was betrayed. Jews worshipped the Messiah in advance His Passover His Death Prayers. Jesus is God and carried out His Religious Observance. Jews had true worship. As Roman Rite Church we hold these prayers to be perpetual. The Symbolic Paschal Lamb had to go. It was the end of time for the symbolic Lamb. Remember the Lamb had to be without spot or wrinkle that prayer is said in the Tridentine Latin Rite Mass.
Read St John of the cross, St Teresa of Avila Edith Stein a Jewish Convert killed by th e Nazi's, There are many pre Vatican11 Latin Rite Church Authors that wrote marvellous contemplative works. We will hold Christ's Mass Jewish Passover Perpetual Sacrifice to the end even if only one Priest has it.

You probably see it. The TLM is very Temple Judaism. The temple is any altar and the sacrifice is the body and blood of Christ. The new mass is totally protestant meal service.

As a Christian you don't need to follow OT dietary laws. St Paul said the ceremonial and ritual laws of the OT were nailed to the Cross. Just the moral Law remains as outlined in the NT.

Authentic, biblical Judaism of the Olam Haba exists, it is called Catholicism.
Mikveh is also the point of conversion into Judaism. REMEMBER it is the rules of the Mikveh which was written into the Baptism (Didache). Catholicism is also very Jewish. Aquinas has a Jewish counterpart, RAMBAM. I (ethnic Jew and Catholic by religion from both sides of the family) have been studying the Torah Shebaal Peh and if anyone wonders where the crazy (to protestants) beliefs and customs come from, it is from the Torah Shebaal Peh. As a Catholic, you are predestined to heaven chosen for salvation as it was of Judaism.

    • @someman7
      @someman7 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      >As a Catholic, you are predestined to heaven chosen for salvation as it was of Judaism.
We believe neither in "unconditional election", nor "perseverance of the saints" as Calvinists would call it. God wills that all be saved, you can choose life or death, and in times of trouble (or choked by the worries and pleasures of the world) you can fall away.

    • @deusimperator
      @deusimperator 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

@@someman7 An explanation is necessary. Catholics are predestined to heaven but it is up to Catholics to hold to that faith, engage in the sacramental life of the Church, and remain in a state of sanctifying grace - as the covenant requires. While G-d gives one the gift of faith, it must be accepted.
Is this an unconditional election? It depends how it is framed. G-d before time chose many to be Catholics to whom He would give the gift of faith, the Catholic Faith, but then the individual must accept that gift of faith. Your salvation depends on you holding to that faith that was given to you and remaining in a state of sanctifying grace.
Is this the Perseverance of the saints? it depends who are the saints. Are all those predestined to heaven saints? No. A saint is one who is in union with G-d - a person who exemplifies the virtue of charity as this is the only virtue that exists beyond death. That is why the word saint (tzaddik in Hebrew) is the root word for charity (tzedakah). Most will need purgatory to be sanctified,
G-d will that all be saved - this is His passive will. That does not mean that all will be saved.

    • @someman7
      @someman7 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@deusimperator I fear that I still hear Calvinist predestination in what you're saying. So let us be clear: Jesus died for all, and the reason all won't be saved is not God choosing not to save them, but their own unwillingness to accept grace. God is mighty and willing to save all.

@@deusimperator I'm not denying the _Catholic_ understanding of predestination. "But we must beware of conceiving the immutability of predestination either as fatalistic in the sense of the Mahommedan kismet or as a convenient pretext for idle resignation to inexorable fate. God's infallible foreknowledge cannot force upon man unavoidable coercion, for the simple reason that it is at bottom nothing else than the eternal vision of the future historical actuality. God foresees the free activity of a man precisely as that individual is willing to shape it. Whatever may promote the work of our salvation, whether our own prayers and good works, or the prayers of others in our behalf, is eo ipso included in the infallible foreknowledge of God and consequently in the scope of predestination (cf. St. Thomas, I, Q. xxiii, a. 8). It is in such practical considerations that the ascetical maxim (falsely ascribed to St. Augustine) originated: "Si non es prædestinatus, fac ut prædestineris" (if you are not predestined, so act that you may be predestined). Strict theology, it is true, cannot approve this bold saying, except in so far as the original decree of predestination is conceived as at first a hypothetical decree, which is afterwards changed to an absolute and irrevocable decree by the prayers, good works, and perseverance of him who is predestined, according to the words of the Apostle (2 Peter 1:10): "Wherefore, brethren, labour the more, that by good works you may make sure your calling and election."" Catholic Church uses the Bible.
All of the rituals are from Bible.
They adopted the Jewish Synagogue reading.
We have the First reading (Old Testament) which is related to the Gospel of Jesus.
Then we have the Second reading (New Testament) after Jesus died and His disciples went out to the nations to spread the Gospel.
The main focus of the Catholic mass is the Gospel of Jesus (from the testaments of His 4 disciples).
And also the Eucharist: the sacrificial part of the worship.

Very strict orthodoxy isn't for everyone. Some love it passionately but it really is not for every person. I would think that would be the case with Christianity, Islam other religions as well. In my humble opinion, the conservative, reform and other types of Judaism can be just as fulfilling if not more fulfilling for many - if not most. But, as with most things, it really depends on an individual, their personal history and so many other things.
I think one of the most beautiful things in Judaism is that potential to infuse every moment with that very close relationship to God as this lovely woman mentioned.
The blessing for everything as mundane as washing the hands, taking a few bites or a drink, going to the bathroom, seeing a rainbow, over a baby or child, over all things from seemingly small and insignificant to the bigger things are all infused with God and God's grace and goodness. There is a constant awareness of closeness to God.o
I can find beauty in so many religions and I can see how different religions are better fits for some than others.
But fusing faith with works and the potentiality for holiness in every moment and everything in one's life , along with the traditions of Judaism is something I greatly admire.
There is also much beauty in Catholicism and I've seen a lot of similarity between the two religions. During the course of my life I've seen many Catholic people I’ve known and still know from Mexico and Mexican Americans who have kept some of the traditions and rituals from Judaism. I later learned that in Spain and Portugal there were many Jews forced to convert to Catholicism or die. Many chose death but many that were forcibly converted continued to practice secretly and those practices were passed down from generation to generation even till this day. I believe they are known as Bene Anusim and at one time as Crypto Jews, meaning they had been forced into Catholicism but still believed and practiced Judaism in the home. Many names that end in -es, -ez, as, az, iz, etc ( eg, Ortiz, Lopez or Lopes, Perez or Peres, Heenandez, etc. are descendants of Sephardic Jews. Also people with names like Garcia and many other Spanish names.
There is a large part of the Southwest where there's a large population of Bene Anusim .It's fascinating really. Recently Spain and Portugal began offering citizenship to people that are descended from Sephardic Jews - before the Catholic monarchy expelled them in 1492. Columbus and a lot of the explorers are thought to have been Jews that were converted forcibly or expelled.
I learned recently there are even Jewish communities in the Amazon jungle and many other parts of Latin America that you wouldn't expect to find Jewish communities. Of course, it's a result of being in the diaspora for thousands of years. After the Romans conquered, killed and expelled the Jews from Judaea and renamed the land Phillistine or Palestine, it's a fascinating history.

I apologize for some of the things you heard and saw. I wouldn’t say she was speaking lies but it came from ignorance as she wasn’t properly guided in her conversion process. Actually what other sects don't like about the Catholic church is that it is too "liberal' so in this case I don't believe it would be "prohibited" since the marriage was done through rites we do not believe in or follow most likely. Also our priests are ordained in ways that other religions are not which give them the power to perform our Catholic marriages in a way that we hold to be eternal and spiritual if done "correctly". Not sure if I'm making sense but hope I did. If you have more questions about our "rules" or traditions I suggest reading "Catechism of the Catholic Church" the official book 🙏

      Great answer!
In Judaism, a Priest is called a Cohen, and they are the male descendents of Aaron. Nobody can to become or quit being a Cohen. Cohens don't do anything now days, except bless the people and accept five silver coins to redeem a firstborn son. In the Temple in Jerusalem, you must have a Cohen to perform any sacrifice.
Rabbis are scholars of Tora (Instruction) and being a rabbi is actually being a technical guide at a wedding or whatever.

The Son of God - where shall we find him?
Exodus 4:22 "Thus says the Lord: My son, My firstborn is Israel."
Hosea 11:1 "For Israel was a youth and I loved him, and from Egypt I called My son."
If you seek the true Son of God, look to Judaism, because the
JEWS ARE THE SON GOD, and Judaism is who Jews are. 🕎😀
Gentiles can convert to Judaism. In Scripture, converts to Judaism are refered to as "strangers" and the Tora requires Jews love the stranger (convert) as themselves and commands that the convert be as the home born. (Gentiles in Scripture are called "foreigners").
Don't believe me? Ask your priest!

Modern Orthodox will convert people. It's not ultra-orthodox or nothing. I think a lot times she is confusing individuals opinions and interests with the actual Halachah. Milwaukee has a very small Orthodox community, and she may have been absorbing the thinking of a particular Rabbi, without consulting with Rabbis from the larger Orthodox community. No one Rabbi is infallible or has the necessary psychological training to be of help to someone outside their particular (maybe peculiar) little circle. The ultra Orthodox are kinda like Amish people. They actively shun involvement in the secular world. So an outsider will have a much bigger hurdle to overcome vs trying to adjust to a modern Orthodox environment.
When they discuss "arranged" marriage, I think she and others have the impression that you must marry the person who your introduced to. You can marry anyone who will have you.

if you believe that you can communicate with Mary, then you are deceived. Mary is dead as is all Old Testament saints. In this tense; Saint being referred to as "the dead in Christ". Mary is just as my fore fathers, [dead] from this world.
God’s sovereignty: God is the sole mediator between humanity and Himself (1 Timothy 2:5). Seeking communication with the dead bypasses God’s authority and undermines His sovereignty.
Spiritual protection: Interacting with the dead can lead to spiritual contamination and compromise one’s relationship with God (Leviticus 18:6-7).
Death’s finality: The Bible teaches that death is a one-way journey, and the dead have no means of communication or reconnection with the living (Ecclesiastes 9:5-6).
In effect when people try to commune with dead saints this is necromancy-conjuring spirits. Catholicism is a false religion that promotes praying to the dead. Mary has no power to heal, save, or forgive you. She is dead in Christ, just as all believers that pass from this life to eternal life.
It's not procedure (Tradition) that saves. The Eucharist can not save or absolve us from our sins, nor can any mortal man (Priest) act as a mediator in between God and man. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 1 Tim 2:5
Ephesians 1:7: In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace. (combines redemption, forgiveness, and salvation with Jesus’ blood) John 19:30 30 Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. Salvation for mankind was made available to all generation's through the final work of Christ Jesus the Lord. No man can add to, or take away this finished work upon the Cross of Calvary. In effect any religion that takes away this finished work of God is a false man made religion.

Her knowledge base is weak. Modern orthodox fully follow the law, however see no issue (and can cite references in Jewish law to prove it) with also being pro-science, pro career equality, pro-psychology and modern in that sense. “Ultra-orthodox” (which is an offensive non-Jewish term and who no Jewish person calls themself) give up initiative to learn science and the aforementioned and instead only learn and concern their time on reflecting on Jewish law; they also have invented for themselves a “fence around Jewish law”- effectively hundreds of more post-Roman-empire, post-biblical manmade Jewish laws that they integrate to relieve anxiety about accidentally breaking Jewish law. Example: Jewish law says women should cover their knees (and Modern orthodox do); “ultra-orthodox” arbitrarily decided to have women wear skirts to the ankle so that there is no possible way Jewish law, covering the knee, could be broken. Also, by orthodox Jewish law, a convert does not need to live with the rabbi. Maybe she was working as a nanny for them and they decided it would be easier to keep an eye on her if she lived with them. Lastly, for her to say “when you’re converting, they don’t tell you everything that goes into it that you need to know, like mikvah” is totally sus. Converts are literally interrogated by a beit din judge panel to see what they know before they are given their conversion papers. Women don’t have as many laws to follow as men, but mikvah is so centrally basic to wives’ life that I find her story hard to fathom. I’m glad she found therapy and wish her well.

The fact without any kind of interpretation is that the Jewish religion does not accept any corporeal form of a Deity. There are no symbols or images and whatever anyone says about Christianity completing Judaism is false. Aside from early Christians and Jesus being initially Jewish, there is no connection. Shalom! The "Hebrewness" of Christianity or the "Christianess" of the Jewish Messiah is often undiscovered, only revealed to those who search out what G-d has hidden. Those who follow the worship of Catholiscism The Queen of Heaven and light candles to her or attribute their worship as being rewarded by praying the Hail Mary now called the rosary... have not had their eyes yet opened to the ancient warnings of the Prophet Jeremiah. He warned in chapter 26 not to worship the Queen of Heaven or Baal, that it was detestable to God to make these images of her and light candles/incense...still being done today. The people replied, "We will not listen to the message you have spoken to us in the name of the Lord! We will certainly do everything we said we would do..." they go on to talk about what an ancient thing it is to practice this and this is still said today, with catholics touting how their church is the first church that ever existed and therefore the correct church, the church started by Yeshua-Jesus and only passed on to Peter their first Pope. For those who love to dive in and only seek to defend Catholicism they immediately dive into how the Queen of Heaven Jeremiah is warning about is not the same as the Queen of Heaven catholics call their worship of Mary today in 2023...However In Hebrew we know there is no word for coincidence because there are none. This is not a coincidence that this pagan worship was done by these ancient Israelites and is still being practiced today. The Kings (Popes) of Catholoscism - The Queen of Heaven pagan counterfeit worship of Christ our Messiah is still being led by these Pied pipers today, Emperors with no clothes and only the children of G-d will point it out! Jeremiahs warning to Gods people still stands. And yet catholics affirm the same message today that was said to Jeremiah when he warned them, they touted in saying "We will certainly do everything we said we would do..." they go on to tell Jeremiah why they are going to keep worshiping "The Queen of Heaven" because when they (worship, pray, burn candles) to her they were well off and suffered no harm...But when we stopped burning incense to the Queen of Heaven..... we have had nothing and have been perishing by the sword and by famine." Hence worshiping G-d and putting their trust in Him alone to provide and protect is not enough and this pagan Queen of Heaven deceived them into thinking they were receiving results from her. And how many catholics today praying their Hail Mary rosary's will readily fire off on a regular "Joe" Christ follower-Christian (their supposed brothers and sisters in Christ) who tries to warn them catholicism is not the way they should be worshiping Christ...these devout catholics (not devout Christ followers) will adimately attribute their deliverance and or answered prayers to the prayers they have prayed to Mary...just like the children of God told Jeremiah. My prayer for you today brother in Christ is that you come to the full knowledge of Christ and leave this pagan church and it's infatuation with how the worship of G-d is done. Gods children all over the world know how to worship Him in Spirit and in truth worshiping with those who preach only Jesus Christ and Him crucified with signs following affirming the message of the gospel. These Christians all over the world do not pray facing a certain direction and do not even know what the heck the rosary is and G-d is with them! His presence is the confirmation that He is seeking true worshipers. Do not be deceived by the counterfeits, their always out there and they are ancient too. Satan has no new tricks and he always overplays his hand.Today your eyes have been opened and you are accountable for what you have been told. The gospel is simple and if you obey it and not complicate it for others you are the friends of Jesus the Messiah.John 15:14 & John14:15 come out of Catholicism the supposed match club of christianity and just follow Christ, for we are not to think of ourselves better than our brothers...we are to be known by our fruit...known by our love for one another John 13:35 You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free John 8:32

@Guess Work You are terribly mistaken. On top of that, Jesus cannot possibly be the Messiah. Here is proof. When the New Testament finishes describing all of the generations, it clearly states that Joseph took no part in the conception of Jesus! (Matthew 1:18). Joseph went away and came back to a pregnant Mary, who claimed to be impregnated by G-d (Matthew 1:18), which means that, Mary and G-d were the “mother” and “father” of Jesus. However, here lies the critical issue. If the messiah has to be paternally and genetically descended from King David (Jeremiah 23:5-6) and the father of Jesus is supposedly G-d, then is G-d, a descendant of King David? Obviously not! That means Jesus is not descended from King David and cannot be the Jewish messiah like the New Testament says he is. Also, why did the New Testament spend almost a full page linking Joseph to King David, when Joseph clearly was not the father of Jesus? If you look at Matthew 1:1-17 and Luke 3:23-32, they both give significantly different genealogies linking Joseph and Jesus to King David. If you claim that the New Testament is the word of G-d, could it really be that G-d forgot - or was confused about the lineage of the messiah? If got made a mistake, that’s not a god. Answer?

Hi. My concern about Catholicism is that they preach a different gospel than what the Bible teaches. For example, Catholics believe that, in order to be saved, a person must be baptized and take communion in the Catholic Church church. They also teach that a person cannot know what their standing with God is until they stand before Him in judgment. How can you live in such insecurity?
Yet, I know that I am saved. For example, I was raised by my atheist father and I did not hear the gospel until I was 17. Shortly thereafter, I walked onto the lawn of the church one night and, looking up at the cross on a steeple, asked God, "Do you want us to honor the cross?" Then I prayed, "Is there Jesus? I would like to meet Him!" I extended my hands forward.
I saw the Lord descend the last couple of feet to the earth, a white silhouette. I could see the outline of His robe. He took a step and took my hands. Instantly, I felt heaven all over and it felt like my heart was made out of gold. I walked away thinking, "That was heaven, but I am on earth. What is heaven doing on earth?"
At the time, I had not read a Bible, so did not know Ephesians 1.14, that the Holy Spirit is our 'down payment,' our assurance of salvation or that, "The Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God" (Romans 8.16).
Since that night in the Spring of 1977, I can honestly say that I have not had even one second of doubt that I know Christ and am bound for heaven - not even for a second! I have what is called 'absolute assurance.' Yet, I am not presuming I am saved, but I know it because of my close friendship with the Holy Spirit.
Sadly, Catholics believe a different gospel. For example, Paul wrote, "Whoever calls upon the Name of the Lord SHALL be saved," but Catholics preach that, "Whoever calls upon the Name of the Lord, is baptized Catholic, and partakes of Catholic baptism MIGHT be saved." Remember Paul's warning, "Whoever preaches a different gospel, let him be accursed."
May you be filled and have total confidence in your eternal destiny through a close friendship with Christ! Jesus Christ is the light of the world.

@@halleylujah247 Hi. Thanks for writing. You said that I am misrepresenting Catholics, something I do not wish to to do. However, after innumerable conversations with Catholics, almost all are in agreement that you must be baptized Catholic and receive Catholic communion, all with no assurance of salvation. Was I misinformed? Again, some of your biggest YT teachers have made these points time and again, including Catholic priests.
Moreover, I will quote Paul without interpretation. That is, you cannot say that I am 'incorrectly interpreting the Bible' as I make no interpretation at all! Paul wrote, "Whoever calls upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10.13)." Compare Paul's words with the Catholic gospel, "Whoever calls upon the Name of the Lord, is baptized Catholic, and partakes of Catholic communion might be saved." First, it seems rather obvious that these are two distinct, contradictory teachings. Am I wrong? If so, how?
No Catholic will give me an honest answer. For example, 'Catholic Truth' claimed that I was 'cherry picking.' Yet, when asked what Romans 10.13 means, he went silent. Other Catholics cited verses that, I suppose, they thought contradicted Romans 10.13. When I ask, "Is there really 'more to it than that'? Was Paul wrong?," again, not one had the integrity or courage to answer. There was, however, one Catholic who had passive denial, saying, "You are right. It looks like a different gospel than Paul's. I will have to look into this." I never heard from him again.
My concern is that you might join the long list of Catholics who will not honestly and courageously look at these words of Paul, found in Romans 10.13. Remember Paul's warning, "If anyone preaches a different gospel, they should be accursed." Yet, no Catholic will simply agree with Paul's gospel! I am very concerned!
However, lest you think I am cherry picking, I will also cite the words of Christ, "My Father will give the Holy Spirit to everyone who asks of Him." Notice, the Lord did not add, "But only if you are baptized in a Catholic church!"
I write that you may know Christ - simply by asking! Jesus Christ is the light of the world.

@@kenshiloh Hey! I wouldn't describe myself as a religious Catholic, but perhaps for your purposes I can be helpful as I was raised in a religious Catholic family (my dad is an ordained deacon) and know a little about this.
The view you seem to be describing is Feeneyism, a particularly strict interpretation of the doctrine 'Extra Ecclesiam nulla salus'. Feeneyists do hold that only baptised Catholics are saved, but their view isn't universal in the Catholic Church today (stricter views were common in the middle ages and early modern period, but not all of those were quite as strict as Feeneyism on things like baptism of desire, etc.).
Vatican 2 (controversial among trad types!) didn't change the teaching but clarified the interpretation of it. TH-cam won't let me paste links but I'll paste below a short excerpt of an interview with a priest that's a helpful summary.....
Can't answer the assurance point but maybe someone else can jump in.
Did the Second Vatican Council impact this teaching?
A: Yes, it made the proper interpretation of the church’s teaching clearer.
“Vatican II made it clear that there is the possibility of attaining heaven without being Catholic,” said Father Joseph.
“I think we would still say there is no salvation outside the church,” he continued, “but what we mean by that is that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, as he said.
“He’s it. So, if there’s salvation, it’s in him.
“If I am saved, I am saved by Jesus Christ and no one else.”

@@rebeccamcelroy1000 Wow! That is from Vatican II? I am keeping count; out of the many Catholics I have conversed with (and I do this all the time), you are only the fifth Catholic to say that baptism is not necessary for salvation. That is, the majority of Catholic YT teachers and priests hold that baptism and communion are essential to salvation. Yet, if these Catholic leaders are wrong, then what does a person need to do in order to be saved? That is, what would you tell a person who asks how you make it to heaven? Thanks for writing!

@@kenshiloh So, not claiming to actually be a Catholic, as my beliefs these days don't really align with the church, although I was baptised confirmed etc. as a child and raised in an observant family. But happy to try and answer questions anyway.
The doctrine of the church is that valid baptism is generally needed for those who are not invincibly ignorant of Christianity (e.g. those who lived before Christ, uncontacted peoples, etc.), and that through baptism and continued acceptance of the gift given by Christ by dying for us, you go to heaven.
But, a few complexities to note about that:
      1. Baptisms do not need to be Catholic to be valid. So long as they are done with the right formula with the intent to validly baptise, they can be done by anyone if really necessary. Anglican, Methodist baptisms etc. are valid baptisms. Many within the church hold that validly baptised non-Catholic Christians can go to heaven, while still not condoning being outside the church per se. This idea that validly baptised non-Catholic Christians may be saved is what was taught at Vatican 2- before the 20th century the view that only Catholics are saved was overwhelmingly common in the church.
      2. Church doctrine holds that in certain *exceptional* cases baptism is not needed for salvation. An example would be baptism of blood, where the same grace normally given at baptism is given at martyrdom. As I said you will find people (Feeneyists) who don't believe in this, but it is part of the doctrine of the church. Baptism of blood is actually quite an old idea, unlike the Vatican 2 interpretation of 'extra ecclesiam' which was newer.
      3. While this is the position on those who are invincibly ignorant- for *everyone else*, the church very much does teach that baptism is necessary for salvation- and that's most everyone in the modern world. So Catholics teaching you need baptism on YT may be entirely in keeping with what I've said here.
      4. On your point that what you've being hearing on YT is that only Catholics are saved- I'm entirely unsurprised by that. Most YT Catholics tend to the more conservative/trad end within the church and are more likely to hold more stringent views on this stuff. But, what I'm saying is what is actually in the catechism, and what was said at Vatican 2. I'm not particularly going out on a limb here with some liberal twisting of doctrine. This is what the teaching of the modern church says.
Below I've pasted two relevant qs from the catechism which says this a little clearer than I can!
Hope this is helpful. As a general rule, if you'd like to get a good picture of Catholic beliefs, it's helpful to diversify beyond YT as there is a self-selecting bias towards a particular type of (more hardline!) Catholic on social media and you won't get the full picture. But I do appreciate that might not be feasible for you!
      *******************************************
      261. Is Baptism necessary for salvation?
      1257
Baptism is necessary for salvation for all those to whom the Gospel has been proclaimed and who have had the possibility of asking for this sacrament.
      262. Is it possible to be saved without Baptism?
      1258-1261
      1281-1283
Since Christ died for the salvation of all, those can be saved without Baptism who die for the faith (Baptism of blood). Catechumens and all those who, even without knowing Christ and the Church, still (under the impulse of grace) sincerely seek God and strive to do his will can also be saved without Baptism (Baptism of desire). The Church in her liturgy entrusts children who die without Baptism to the mercy of God.
