I've seen a few of your videos on the cricut but this is your first flower tutorial I have seen so I don't know if you have improved your method or not since this, but a little tip from my grandmother who was a florist when she was alive, is to curve the end of the florists wire into a hook or a zigzag before gluing. That way it is more difficult to pull out by accident.
Funny I got your email today, Jennifer, as I have had peonies and my grandmother on my mind all day. Peonies are her favorite flower, but living near the coast in Georgia, she just has never had success at growing them. I actually looked for a die to make her some peonies today! Even the stamps I found, the peonies just don't look realistic enough for my satisfaction...however, your peony is VERY realistic and it should as you took the time to pick it out of your garden, disect it, draw the exact shape of each petal and leaf, and put it back together in the exact order that you took it apart. You are amazing!!! I will be so proud to make her a bouquet of these flowers and send them to her as a belated Mother's Day gift. She is 92 years young and was in the hospital with pneumonia and had a pacemaker put in during Mother's Day week. She is doing great now though and is walking around her block several times a day for exercise, driving to her hair and nail appointments, going to church and the church quilting bee each week and doing her own grocery shopping again. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this lovely flower tutorial and pattern and sharing it...I will put it to good use and post a pic of my bouquet when I get it done. Blessings, Denise
I'm delighted to hear you think these look real, and I'd be honored if you made some for your grandmother. If you do, please share a photo of them! Thank you!
This is amazing! We recently moved and had to leave our Peony garden behind. I can't believe how realistic your Peony looks! It looks just like the Sorbet variety in my old garden!
Fantastic video tutorial, Jennifer! The Peony looks gorgeous using crepe paper. Thank you so much for sharing your file and expertise. I haven't cut crepe paper yet with my Maker, but now I want to. :) Thanks for the inspiration!
I LOVE your peony and have tried several times to get your free recipe but unfortunately without success Otherwise, they would look so beautiful on my granddatters christening table ❤
made this today While time consuming it is pretty easy and i came out beautiful. One question....did you really use the fine crepe paper. I used the coarser one. I would think that the finer one would make it so much harder to do
Hi Jennifer. I subbed and got the cut file but I'm brand new to Cricut. I have the Cricut Explore 3. I just ordered a cheapy floral kit with tape and wire and some crepe paper. Should I get a light grip mat to cut on? I absolutely LOVVVVVE Peonies so I can't wait to try this project, although it may be way too advanced for me at this point in my newbie Cricut journey. :)
Heather have you tried this yet? the tutorial info says the explore machines can't cut the svg. I didn't want to buy the items to make it if I can't use my Explore Air 2
I've got to ask....what is the process by which you cut these out with a Cricut? I mean it's crepe paper, I would think it would just rip. Do you have a special technique?
You can only cut crepe paper with the rotary tool on a Maker. But if you want to make paper peonies on an Explore, I have another pattern that would work here: jennifermaker.com/rolled-paper-peony-flower/
You can always see the supply list of everything I used in the blog post! Here is the paper I used for this project: www.amazon.com/Lia-Griffith-10-7-Square-Assorted-LG11018/dp/B01JYSL3OA/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&qid=1527977435&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=lia+griffith+crepe+paper&psc=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=jennifer00e-20&linkId=f519949e17a17c25b4eb0152db41a186 💕
It can also depend on how old your mats are. I would use the LightGrip, blue mat for crepe paper. Or, the green mat if it doesn't have much tack. You really have to test what you like the best. There are so many opinions on this! :)
This is only for the Maker! Crepe paper is so fine, that it can only be cut with a rotary blade, which is only available on the Maker! You can download the pdf version of the pattern, though, and cut with a scissors! 😉🥰
Hello, I love your paper peony! Just beautiful. Im having a hard time finding the right PDF file. The one i found does not include the stamen and the petals do not look like the ones in the video. I cut out all the pieces for the double peony but then realized it didnt include the stamen - help.
Did you cut the petals and the stamen on one 12x12 sheet of crepe paper (using your Cricut)? If not, how many pieces of crepe paper and what sizes did you use to cut this out using your Cricut? Thank you!
It's a shame nobody answered you a year ago. Jennifer always has a PDF version of her patterns included in her free download files. So, no excuse why you can't make them even if you don't own a cutting machine.
with the SVG which petals are the 'first set of petals?" You say there are about 60 but when I pause your screen there are only 30 laid out on the table. So I'm just a little confused.
If you take a look at our blog post, linked here, it should help to clear it right up! The first set are the simpler petals, and, yes, there are only 30 of them! 🥰 jennifermaker.com/make-crepe-paper-peony-flowers/
@@JenniferMaker Hi Jennifer, I have tried using the Explore several times to cut these and the paper always tears. Any suggestions? Every where I look, it says you need the Maker not the Explore 🥲
Devastated... just got an Air 2 so I could make this and only now realise apparently it cant cut crepe paper!! Has anyone found a workaround? Tape a piece of paper over the top or something? Not sure what about it makes it incompatible, just the stretchiness?
The Maker cuts crepe paper with the rotary blade. Here is the Air 2 list from Cricut. help.cricut.com/hc/en-us/articles/360009504773-Which-materials-can-I-cut-with-my-Cricut-Explore-and-Cricut-Maker-machine-#explore-air-2
Head to the library here: jennifermaker.com/resource-library/ Then, just press Command + F (Mac) or Control + F (Windows). A small window will come up near the upper right side of the screen. Yes!
I've got to ask....what is the process by which you cut these out with a Cricut? I mean it's crepe paper, I would think it would just rip. Do you have a special technique?
I used the Cricut Maker, which has an option to use a rotary blade. The rotary blade cuts crepe paper like a champ.

What gram weight is the Lia Griffith crepe paper in the link. It says extra fine . . . . I have seen to use 180g

Linda Melancon no you can’t, only the maker cuts crepe paper. You May be able to try with tissue paper though as the air 2 cuts tissue paper.
Oh no, just realized that you can only do these on a Maker. 😭 Has anyone had success on the Explore?
You can use an Explore or a Joy or Maker. It will work on all of them.
