I've seen these folks 4 times now and I can't wait to see them again. Some of the best shows I've ever been to hands down. Amazing musicians, people and shows. Do yourself a favor and drop 20 bucks and have a great night seeing these guys.
THe Devil makes three is great tunes. HAve been listening to them for a while now. I remember years ago when my buddy showed them to me. Have been fine ever since!
I love this song and this group!! Saw them of the great web site NO DEPRESSION and now I'm hooked. Great harmonies and oh so clever lyrics Makes me happy!
Now THIS is country/Western. This. Not that fucking bullshit that gets played on "country" radio stations these day. We need a little more action like this on the airwaves. Play on, gentlemen!
the last time i was so stuck up an artist ass was Elliott smith i just discovered these guys a few months ago and am absolutely in love with em i cant stop playing their tunes these guys are sooooo good love the darker kinda vibe some of their songs have they they definitely have a special flare to their bluegrass style
That's what I love about Bluegrass. You can literally find ANYTHING in this genre. Yes, even bluegrass rap (don't ask, I was embarrassed to have stumbled on it). These guys are great, and they've got a really cool story, too.
I agree - I saw them live and didn’t know who they were. I made a mental note about how awesome this song was, but when I listened to the album version I was like: I must have been really drunk cause this isn’t as good

What an awesome Jam! Great band! It's nice to know this type of music, that was once so pivotal in our history, is being kept alive and well by real musicians!
its amazing how, from my experience three weeks ago, listening and singing this song with my love after a night of hard drinking and experimenting with numerous chemicals, my hangover quickly ceased and the party started all over again! dm3 amazing live btw!!! see ya'll again sometime!!!
just saw them at the 8 by 10 room in Baltimore. WOW WOW WOW, you guys are amazing. they had that place shaking off its hinges, just fantastic. go see them if you get a chance. that little mama can play a bass, i mean damn......
I agree, you can never have too many banjos. The President of my university has an enormous collection of banjos in his home. He gives tours to the seniors. :D
I absolutely love this video. I have been following these 3 for several years now and they just seem to keep getting better and better with each passing year. Keep it up!! Love it!!!
@jjreid87 It functions to dampen and mute the harmonic tones that can come through from behind the bridge. Its also shoved under the tailpiece so it also helps mute the buzz/ rattling from that.
@ianzepp That is a 4 string tenor banjo, you play it with a pick. The 5 string banjo that this artist also plays, can be played with finger picks, bluegrass style or clawhammer frailing style.
have to say dm3 sure deserves a big contract deal, they have that just right sound..and add a new sound to alot of the same old same old... something tells me they would probably deny that mainstream popularity though!!
@@tenenieldjoandthenightsist5109 Reminds me of when Marty Robbins said "People will tell you that that ain't country, but its country, it's just another holler!"

Why are these people not as famous as less deserving but more famous people?
Because most people have horrible taste in music ….unlike me and you.
Bro I've been listening to them for years and I wonder the same thing
These guys have restored my faith in modern music.
@BirthOfSerpents I'm not sure I understand. Could you explain?

Well you really can't call this "modern music" now can you???
"never too many banjos?" ;)

so on point! one of my favorite recordings by the dmt.... and i just realized that the devil makes three is the DMT. *MIND BLOWN*

Tony D All Hail!!!
so so so so so so so so so so good
This music relates to me on an intimate level.
I wish I could like this a million times
: ) Good stuff. I’ve been listening to this band since their first album waaaay back in the early 2000s. 💖
One of their best performances. They play it at the right speed. It's too slow on the album.
The singer fucks it up and slows down and speeds up randomly and his bandmates have to try and figure out what hes doing, this version is terrible.
There lives are always better for some reason lol
I agree - I saw them live and didn’t know who they were. I made a mental note about how awesome this song was, but when I listened to the album version I was like: I must have been really drunk cause this isn’t as good
Lately things ain't been going my way
Consequently I've been drinking nearly every day
It's hard to keep your head up when they're knocking you down
So I been making that all go round
Drinking bottom shelf bourbon to ease my mind
Seems to work alright 'til closing time
But you know you're gonna come down every night
And there ain't no way you'll ever feel satisfied
Ain't that hard to figure where to begin
It's Friday night so I'm rushing in
Like a fool I get it anywhere I can
Well I've been having a hard time
Walking a straight line
Seeing two of every single neon sign
Well now you'll find me downtown
Gracefully face down
Just wishing I could feel alright
Well lately I've been wanderin around with eyes closed
It seems like I been heading down the wrong road
Thought I'd find my way by now
But I still got lost somehow
Y'hear shots fall down from Heaven above
You might lose a friend you might fall in love
But you know you're gonna come down every night
And there ain't no way you'll ever feel satisfied
Six in the morning 'til your dying day
It's straight bad news and bills to pay
But come five o'clock you're feeling good again
Well I've been having a hard time
Walking a straight line
Seeing two of every single neon sign
Well now you'll find me downtown
Gracefully face down
Just wishing I could feel alright
Well I been so high I hit my head on the ground
Sat up on the floor seems the room spin around
But when you squint real hard through the bottom of the bottle
Things really don't look so bad
You drink a cheap malt liquor from a 40 ounce bottle
Swig some bourbon, some pills if you've got 'em
But you know you're gonna come down every night
And there ain't no way you're ever gonna feel satisfied
There's years of my life I don't remember at all
Like one Friday evening I can barely recall
It was a sick situation in a bar room bathroom stall
Well I've been having a hard time
Walking a straight line
Seeing two of every single neon sign
Well now you'll find me downtown
Gracefully face down
Just wishing I could feel alright
I think it might be fifth of bourbon instead of swig of bourbon.
Squint real hard through the bottom of the bottle, things really don’t look that bad. Genius.

They're so good - and like all truly great bands they almost always come off sounding better live than in studio recordings 🤩

One of my top 5. 2022 and still playing daily. Been there, done that, repeated. Alcoholism, then pills, then hard drugs to sobriety.qq0££

It's actually considered ragtime not country
