    I have invented words as I’ve been trying to tackle job.
    I’ll give you a dollar to come do it!
    I appreciate your technique and the clarity of your videos.

    Love the video. Was dreading doing this job on my 78, but you gave me the confidence to tackle it. Wasn't quick, but it really wasn't as hard as I expected. I can offer 2 suggestions. One of the pins, as you noted, is inaccessible from behind. You can loosen up all the nuts holding the backing plate, including the bolt at 12 o'clock to give you enough wiggle room to insert a new pin from behind. Also the retaining clip on the bolt at 12 o'clock can also be replaced. Mine was so rusty I had to find a way. Back off the bolt and then break/cut off the old washer/clip. I cut the new retaining clip at the top and bent it open so it would slip over the bolt shoulder. Once in place, bent it back and tightened it down. Worked great.

      That's awesome that you got that job. Me too, I was dreading it as well, but thankfully got it done. Ok probably going to repece all the back plates and things like that to the future. I appreciate the extra details that you provided in the comments and definitely something I will consider and hopefully others will (if they read the comments) prior to doing the work themselves. I've got another C3 is much better shape that I may use to make a video of a much cleaner wheel / e-brake assembly . Thanks again for watching.

    Best video for this job out of ALL of them. You really go into detail which is what I need. Never done this before and having to do this tonight on my 79. Thank you very much for this. great job.

    Your video really helped me. The wire technique was AWESOME. Thank you.

    Thanks very much for de-mystifying this procedure. My only suggestion is to remind people to spray down all brake pads with brake cleaner before reassembling the wheel. Otherwise your brakes will squeak.

      It's not that hard of a job, just a little technical, but at least you don't have to crawl under the car that much. Good luck with your brakes and I know that you will be fine. J

    Great job, super crisp video. It gives me hope for the uncoming job on my C3. Do you also have a video about "fine tunig" the handbrake, because I still can lift the handle up pretty far, with just to little breaking effect. Nevertheless: thanks a lot! Greets from Germany, Niels

    Hey this is really great. I have been planning to go thru my whole p-brake mech from the pull handle (already did that though) thru the cable and to the wheels at some point. This is a great help.

    • @Motorcycology
      @Motorcycology  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad it helped. That's what I did too. I made sure my cables, pully, handle and everything was good, then moved on to doing the parking brake. I'm the 3rd owner of this C3 and the previous owner had the car for 20 years. At some point the parking brakes failed and he never re-did them. I was aware of this when I purchased the C3 from him. The C3 is pretty much as it was from the factory, never winter driven, but also never put through a "refit", so that is what I'm doing. Plus adding to the body of knowledge/skills out there too. We all help each other.

    Good job! You would have saved yourself a lot of work when putting the calipers back on if you had used a proper size block of wood,to keep the pads/pistons from closing together.

      Thanks for watching and sending in a comment. I got my kit at a place called Corvette Depot or you could also get at Exclers as well. www.corvettedepot.ca/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwwYSwBhDcARIsAOyL0fg-vlGytl6iS9dxoX9372dTVQ3eB84JjuHj6FbUVx1xjcdrBmEigH0aArnUEALw_wcB

    How do u adjust the brake handle

  • @wwcranker
    @wwcranker 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The brake fluid supply line needs to be removed first to get the caliper off. Also if this is the first time a rotor is coming off you will need to drill out the rivets before you can remove the rotor.

    your top spring is not in correctly your wheel studs are going to rub on that spring

  • @wwcranker
    @wwcranker 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've watched several of these videos for a C3 Corvette. Unfortunately every one glosses over the installation of the top spring. All of a suddent its on like magic. That spring has to stretch to about 4 and 3/4 inches and its very stiff and a complete bear to install.

    • @Motorcycology
      @Motorcycology  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally agree with you. The top spring is a tough one. No of this installation is much different than a regular drum shoe replacement, just a much smaller and tighter space.

    Uuuggggggg…..that looks like a lot of finagling to replace those “shoes.” I know just replace with new control arms? Would be costly however it’s an upgrade. Any comment about it? I’d like to read some.

    They did not make these easy to rebuild

    • @Motorcycology
      @Motorcycology  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, they are a crazy idea, not a bad idea, but bad enough that people tend not to repair them if / when they fail.
