    Just for reference. The star wheel adjuster is installed backwards. This wont make a difference on the function, but could confuse people trying to adjust the brake.

      Oh no! - yes we had the seat redone by Mr. Mike - search for another video on that topic

    Great video and explanation on adjusting. Easy to follow. I would add one thing though. If you remove the star adjuster bolt from the drum brakes you can free the bolt with some penetrant oil, clean the threads and hit it with a little bit of lithium grease before reassembling. Once that’s done you can use the star adjuster again. But in reality you’ll probably never touch them again for years.

    I just figured out how to install all of the new parking brake hub components. Then I was wondering how to tighten them down without having to remove the rotor. Thank you for your instructional video.

    Wow, your presentation was awesome! You nailed it in such a simple way. Thank you!! By the way, how are the KYB shocks on your car? I'm thinking of upgrading my rear suspension too. Any tips or feedback? You rock!!

    Nice video, thanks for the information. Question....do you rotate the starwheels on both sides the same direction to tighten and / or loosen the shoe pads? I assume so, which is why they face to the right (opposite directions) on the driver and passenger side, but wanted to confirm.

    • @lawdogcorvette8565
      @lawdogcorvette8565  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes - you have it right. Make sure you are adjusting the star wheel and adjusting the e-brake cable under the car. It takes a few adjustments to get it right.

      @@lawdogcorvette8565 Thanks. My driver side rear wheel rotor and starwheel are seized, even though I put all new parking brake mechanism on. I think I tightened the parking brake cable too much which isn't allowing me to back off the starwheel, so need to get it back up on jacks to loosen the cable and hopefully back off the starwheel a bit.

    I have a 1977 corvette, e brakes were changed years back. I can rotate the wheel with the tire on but not off. Does the caliper, fully functioning, hold you back from adjusting the e-brake pads due to the pads dragging on the rotor? Would it be best to take off the calipers to see if the e brakes are engaging or not? Takes a lot of pull to top position of the e brake lever to engage and don't feel the e-brakes are really holding tight. Any help is appreciated. Thanks and God Bless...Doc...

    • @lawdogcorvette8565
      @lawdogcorvette8565  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      great question - the brake calipers and the e-brake are two different systems so one should have anything to do with the other. however, I would do exactly what you suggest - remover the brake calipers and then try adjusting the e-brake. that sounds like a mystery to me

    Does it matter the direction of the Emergency adjustment screw?
    Tks Keith

    • @lawdogcorvette8565
      @lawdogcorvette8565  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes the clockwise tightens the E-Brake and counter-clockwise loosens

  • @tchiz5603

    i have a 67 vette. My E brake works when rolling backwards but doesn't hold when rolling forward. I've been told to loosen the brake cable adjustment instead of tightening it bc the shoes are not pulling correctly and the cable is too tight. Do you agree with this?

    • @lawdogcorvette8565
      @lawdogcorvette8565  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure - the E-brake is very finicky. I guess I would make small adjustments and see what works.

  • @keithblair8800
    @keithblair8800 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    My 74 corvette parking break seems to stick when I rotate the hub I a backward direction.
    Any ideas? I have replaced springs and brake pads.
    Tks Keith

    • @lawdogcorvette8565
      @lawdogcorvette8565  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So my questions would be if it rubs going backwards is that a bad thing. Remember the E-brake will rub a little bit even when not engaged in both directions. As long as the e-brake is not engaged then rubbing going backwards should not be a big deal. However, that does sounds like a fitment issue with the e-brake pad - the lower bolts. Good luck.

    I just followed your instructions to the T and still doesn’t work. One side won’t even turn on the dial. I try turning it both ways and it seems stuck.

    • @lawdogcorvette8565
      @lawdogcorvette8565  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So first try a quick spray of WD-40 and if that doesn't help then off come the brake calipers for a full diagnostic investigation. If the dial doesn't not turn then I would want to know why. The only way to make that discovery is remove the brake calipers and then remove the rotors for a closer look. Good luck and please post your progress.
