A drive around the village of Binley Woods, Coventry to see where Keeping Up Appearances was filmed. As well as visiting The Bucket Residence we also visit Onslow's House!

We're American and our family has always enjoyed Keeping Up Appearances. We even named our small flock of chickens Hyacinth, Daisy, Rose and Violet - and their yard is known as the Bucket Barn. Thank you for your video.

American here. I loved watching Keeping Up Appearances with my hubby back in the 90s. Hyacinth always reminded me of certain relatives of mine. I always felt bad for Richard, and cheered when he would stand up for himself!

Keeping Up Appearances is my all time favourite classic British Comedy. I have the DVD Boxset. Me and my Dad used to watch it together. He wasn’t an emotional man, but when this was on he’d laugh out loud. I miss him so much, it’ll always be our show. ❤

What wonderful memories.
I used to work for a lady that looked and acted so much like Hyacinth you would swear that they were twin sisters. She came from some little small town to our town...we only had one more stop light than they did, but she and her husband began owning some businesses and making a little more money than most....and she thought she was IT. Her husband didn't look like Richard, but he was just as henpecked and jumped at her every call. They had the better house, the better vehicle, the nicer clothes...she kept a clean house just like H. I wish I had a pic of her to post....all of the Hyacinth lovers would be shocked at her build, her hair...same hairdo..same color.

Have you ever noticed that we get to see glimpses of Sheridan on the show? You can see his childhood photo in a sailor suit in the intro to the show, and in the beginning of one episode, we see the back of his head in the back seat of a car when he's returning to the polytechnic after a visit.

Harold Snoad who wrote this series passed on June 2nd 2024. Judy Cornwell, Patricia Routledge, David Griffin, Marion Barron, Peter Cellier are the only surviving main cast member since the series ended as of 2024.

US American here from across the pond. I really love how mortified Hyacinth would look whenever something happens that would upset her idea of idyllic home life. She never fails to be _completely_ mortified whenever Onslow showed up in his old vehicle and it _always_ backfired, making her _extra_ mortified!
And of course with Hyacinth it's always "The BOUQUET residence, the lady of the house speaking", even though Richard didn't mind "Bucket" at all!
And then there's Rose, always chasing the dishy vicar. "I want to be a nun!"

American here, and I have loved Keeping Up Appearances since I was a child. That, Are You Being Served, and Fawlty Towers are among my favorites.
Now can you imagine if the era's were a little closer we could have had a crossover episode of Hyacinth booking a holiday at a "five star hotel" only to arrive at Fawlty towers... 😂 😂

I am an American who has been a fan of KUA for many years. One of my friends thought it was funny that, if I ever visit England, visiting the filming locations for KUA is one of the main things I want to do. I guess you could say it's on my "Bucket" list.
"It's pronounced Bouquet" 😂😂😂. Such a great sitcom with iconic characters. Me and my mom used to watch it regularly in Toronto, Canada. I own a DVD box set that my son gave me 20 years ago❤and even though I can watch them on Britbox, I take them out occasionally and watch them.
Looking at the houses, I half expect to see Hyacinth, Richard, Elisabeth, Emmet, the milkman, and my favorite the wild eyed postman. ❤❤❤

Keeping up Appearances is one of my favorites, but I'm not sure I'd have the cheek to just show up at the actual house. I briefly met Onslow (Geoffrey Hughes) before he died, a warm and friendly soul.

Keeping Up Appearances is one of my favorite shows. Thanks, Henry, for taking us on the tour. I was thinking about the house that was used as Hyacinth's house. If I was the owner of that house, I would get an interior decorator to duplicate the house on the inside to look just like the original sets. That would be so cool!

Well I'm Australian of English mostly descent and my Grandmother, and my oldest Sister was both like Keeping up appearances. In fact when I first watched it, I thought the show could've been made about my Grandmother who born in 1893, it was her Grandmother who had come to Australia from Manchester. A great show.

So many memories from great episodes popped up. I remember Hyacinth falling into that hedge (now a wall) at Onslo's house when the dog jumped out on her.
Sweet 2104 Riva! I like Ladas, but they are rarely seen here in the States. I've only seen one in person, and that was at a classic car show alongside a Moskvitch. I love British comedies; KUA, Fawlty Towers, Are You Being Served, etc. One of my favorite scenes from KUA was when Onslow's dog stuck it's head out of the abandoned Hillman and began to bark at Hyacinth (as usual). Onslow opened the window and yelled "Less noise you daft bitch, and you as well dog".
Absolutely loved keeping up apperances the best one was when they give the posh lady a lift into town and she beeps the horn at the pub and the man spills the tray of drinks then she ends up on the back of the lorry going through town Absolutely brilliant, appreciate seeing how they look now cheers for that mate

So sad the houses have been altered, I always think they should be preserved for prosperity when used in a tv series but they are private houses at the end of the day. I wish you could have visited a few more locations such as the vicarage, church hall and the hotels they went to. I love the Australian soap Neighbours and sadly those houses have been altered. A lot of people in Britain do not care about TV shows, and they will go to every effort to destroy them. The guy that owned the land that was the set of "Telletubbies" bulldozed the hill and then turned the land into a pond and put a huge fence up to keep people out. Here in USA houses are bought for hundreds of thousands of dollars over market value BECAUSE of the fact it was used in a TV show or movie.

I'm a substitute (supply) teacher in California. I've worked for a woman with the last name Bohnett. The first time I came the person in the office pronounced it "Bo-nay". I thought that was the teacher's habit and thought it was so pretentious! But it was the office manager's ignorance. It is indeed said as it appears. (I can kind of see Hyacinth's logic. Anne Boleyn was spelled many different ways, including 'Bullens".)

I absolutely adored this show on BBC America. I still enjoy the show when I can catch it. There are so many good laughs. The cast is fantastic. I always wondered where exactly the Bucket house was actually located in the London suburban area.
I often wondered where the houses were and so happy you showed us what they looked like now and where they are. You a great chap. Wish I could meet up with you when I am in the UK again to show me around!

I'm from New York City and even I grew up watching Keeping Up Appearances. They used to air this show and Mr. Bean as well as other Brit shows like Dr. Who, Monty Python and Benny Hill. I love those shows so much that when TH-cam started in 2005 I immediately searched these shows and now I'm even a fan of other Brit shows like The Eastenders, Top Of The Pops, Ali G, and even that famous Cake Baking show you guys have that I forgot the name of. Good on you mates for being so good in Comedy, Music and creating our language that we speak here in the states. Cheers.

Very big in the 80's and 90's were Minder and Only fools and horses. Minder started out as a fairly serious show about someone who protected a minor villain but gradually morphed into comedy. Only fools and horses were about a struggling working class family which the BBC wanted to finish after series 1 as the BBC were a bit posh/stuck up.

One of my favorite series! I was stationed in England in the 80's and started watching it there. In Texas, my neighbor was from England- we loved watching it together and laughing about it! Thank you so much for sharing this. Onslo was one of my favorite characters.

one of the funniest, best, most intelligently written, superbly acted and wonderful sitcoms ever brought to TV. i have the complete series box set and never tire of watching it.
I used to live by Abington park where the church and church hall are. (Opposite the Abington park pub on the Wellington road) They also filmed at Weston Favell in Northampton one time when they were chasing daddy. The cast visited my school during that film but sadly it was the summer holidays
They filmed a lot in Abington Street too. Sadly Debenhams has been demolished.
I wonder if the inside of Daisy and Onslow's house was the same as the exterior in Coventry? It looked suspiciously like the houses in St David's in Northampton!
I so wish I could drive down that street and take it all in. I discovered Keeping Up Appearances not too long ago, and I can't wait to get to see all the episodes.

Sunday nights were for the Brit shows on PBS here in our area, & we would get everything from "Appearances" to "Downton" to "Selfridge", "Call The Midwife", "Are You Being Served?", etc. Oh yes, good times for Mom-daughter time on Sunday nights right outside of Raleigh, NC. It's quite possible that the current owners may have zero idea about their homes former fame. They were only used for exterior shots so filmin would have been only a few short days per season...
Even if they do they probably don't care. In fact they are probably fed of sad fans parking near there homes and invading their privacy. I sure as hell would be.
The Fr Ted house in the west of Ireland was bought by an American lady who had no idea about the significance of it until people started showing up at the door to take photos. She now runs a small tearoom there for fans who want to see the house.
Maybe the owners of Hyacinth's are missing a trick. Light refreshments perhaps!? 😂

Drove a Lada Riva way back in the eighties. Was like driving a little tank. Loved that car.
I still find that model of LADA the prettiest of the bunch, just like I did oh, 38 years ago, when I got one nearly new as my first car. Same colour as this but a sedan. Same white steel wheels! Sadly written off 18months into ownership.
I had that same model Lada, a few years ago here in New Zealand. Loved it, but sold it to some hippies who ended up living it. Looked good with curtains fitted 👌
We loved our old Lada! Never noticed anyone objecting to us parking it anywhere but did notice that nobody liked to be behind us on the highways. We did notice one guy holding his nose, as he eventually passed us. Silly SOD. Cheers from Ontario Canada.

The British Broadcasting Channel is by far one of my most cherished memories.
Loved the show! I still watch it from time to time, despite knowing the show inside out. What a great character Hyacinth was. Also loved the second Rose, the drama! 🤣 All the characters were fabulous, and despite almost always getting her comeuppance, she managed to bounce back again. Then again, she never learned either....but who would want a matured, PC Hyacinth?
