Played this in the league it came out and it was an absolute blast. The damage outscales the squishiness until red maps so the early-midgame is super smooth and fun, it's probably even better now after a few patches.
Well, it got a bit nerfed after it's debut - and it did need it - but I think I'm not alone among LC lovers in feeling like it went a bit too hard. I've still been playing it, trying various builds (latest is even more of a boss deleter than this one but relies overly much on uniques), but I felt the difference. I didn't choose it for starting this league, but personally when I saw the changes in the 3.23 patch notes I was stoked, it looks like it's reclaimed at least some of it's former status. Next Affliction exile will definitely be an LC Elementalist, I look forward to doing my last build again and comparing.
I couldn’t decide so I went safe with guardian srs and once I got 2nd lab relics and haste it became ridiculous especially for no gear just life es and resists just a (b b r r) 4 link
Very casual player here - This was my first time following a build guide (back when the skill was first released, Ziz made a build around it), I was absolutely blown away! Thanks to this champ I managed to complete 125/127 achievements, killed all bosses the game has to offer, and so on. All within a league, not even playing much, with unoptimized equipment. If you're hesitating about following a build guide, I highly recommend this one.
LC is pretty good with storm brand of indecision imo it bounces around to all the mobs and shocks can proliferate. but I dont build this much right side of the tree

I was considering starting LC again as it was my favourite skill (I've played pre nerfed LC) but as noone was even mentioning LC as starter I decided to try boneshatter why this guide wasn't posted earlier?
You lose the Elementalist's +15% to shock cap, so the damage for Heirophant will lag behind a bit. Templar / Heiro allows for more survivability though, so it's a decent trade.
Hello and thanks for the build. I saw in the POB that you force the shocking effect to 65%. This is probably due to the Lightning Mastery that increase Max Shock Effect by 15%. But in reality I don't see how you scale your shock at that point. My maximum I can reach is 52% and this is with one cluster jewel setup. Could you clarify on this ? Maybe I missed something ?
Any chance you could cover Arc Ignite elementalist? it seems pretty decent specially with one of the new arc gems that gives increased dmg and effect of ailments per remaining chain
it is good option, however you probably would need another skill for single target also few people that I know had checked trans arc and it was slightly worse than base arc starter viable definitely but close to off meta
I have a noob question (sorry).... how do i get 4 blue sockets in an midgame armor / evasion gear ? im using POB and i cant see the armor slots fit the colors of the gems ....3 blue sockets costs 120 chromatic orbs .... what do i miss ?
When you make intros, do you ever go "no, this is not silly/dumb enough" and try again? Because, so far, you have not missed a single time! (Much love, amigo!)
you need to put orb of storms down then use conduit inside the aoe of orb of storms. it only works on shocked enemies so it has to be with orb of storms
Just remember that the difference in the two is the T gem trades the shock requirement and built-in scaling for the ability to apply shock, lower radius, quality that increases radius rather than damage, higher base damage, and increased added damage effectiveness. Like Ziz says, normal LC has a ceiling, I would be very surprised if LCotH's ceiling isn't lower. The one thing I see about LCotH being viable for is as a triggered spell, since it also loses the base gem's "Cast Time is added to its Cooldown if Triggered", so that might be the way to go.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I'm dying on ever map and I mean white maps. This Build is extremely squishy and so far not fun at all. I'm res capt, 60% evasion, 60% phys reduction, 60% spell suppression with lucky, still dying to everything 😢
That's the Witch life for you :P how much life do you have? playstyle is the only other thing i could think of, unless you're rolling very hard maps. White maps are typically very doable even with 3k life and barely a defensive unless you run into packs head first
I know it's old but for any new beginner - Yes. Arcanist Brand is only to automate linked skills. There's no other use for it and it's one of my favourite skill gems to automate offensive auras.
I'm curious as to why you have this listed as higher boss damage than TR pathfinder (4 stars vs 3) when you talk about how lower boss damage is a drawback to this build, is it because TR has more delay to the damage?
This comes online faster as a leaguestarter when it comes to boss damage, that was the main criteria. Don't look too deep into the scoring system though, it's mostly very arbitrary. -skryah
I leaguestarted this last season and ended up capping out at around 10M damage. The skill itself feels great if you're ok with buttons and the campaign is a breeze especially for crowd control. But you really start to feel the ceiling of the build around late yellow maps and then it feels like your lightning is made of marshmallows. Bosses are pretty much a non-option at that point, even map bosses. I think the build is great as a leaguestart as long as you know upfront that you're going to be investing into a different build later on.
@@ridonkulusjuggler Okay, well I'm playing SSF HC and I'm consistently having like 1-2mill damage peak on leaguestarter and take it to red maps. I also played this build as a Trickster on HC when it first came out, and only had 2mill damage doing endgame bosses
@@KingJerbear Yeah fair enough and you probably played it better than I did. I did take it as far as T14 but it just didn't feel great compared to other builds I've played. Trickster sounds interesting for this, I might look into that
LC does extra damage based on the # of shock removed. Skitterbots is only a 15% shock. If you removed a 40-65% shock LC would do much, much more damage. @@bole5113
I'm curious why you don't want to use the alt qual gem that removes the need for shock. I understand the high end damage is less but without the need for shock, you can run something like Occultist and get profane bloom on it. That could do some huge clear speed. It can also move into power charge stacking assassin which may be comparable.

Having to play an exact tested build or die horribly makes exploring the game impossible for new players. Now the game becomes a chore where you have to copy some expert's game because the devs made the bosses too hard. Almost levl 48 and not evern scratching Malachai, burn through all my flasks in seconds. Ice Pulse and glacial at 6 do nothing.
I think he missed somethign very importang. With the new season, we can change conduit lightning into "lighting conduit of the Heavens", which does NOT need shock on the enemies. Making it a one button build.

diablo can suck but ball lightning is way cooler and have more endgame impact than this trash, every build to destroy all content on poe always looks boring to play and i think they do it on purpose
you should fix your builds this is nowhere near league start beginner friendly when needing to spend over 3k chromes on coloring chest when hitting maps.. what an awful channel
Game knowledge issue. You have a 1/10 (10%) chance to hit an off-color socket when going from 1 socket to 2 socket, 2 to 3, 3-4, 5-6 etc (and only costs jewlers). It's referred to as the "jewler method". It takes a while, but you can also do things like white sockets via Vorici in Research via Syndicate. You get him to 3 stars, keep him at 3 stars (release him, do not move him what-so-ever) and do Catarina, then he has a chance of making anywhere from 1-6 socket in your armor white.
Bro, just ignore determination and remove all armor from gear, go evasion or evasion/es. Just convert the physical damage to elemental damage and go high evasion/spell block/spell supp and ofc ailment immunity with purity of elements. I would definitely run cloak of flames on this build and extra conversion on helmet, helm implicits and watcher's eye while affected by purity.

You can also play this with hiero and manastacking, abusing lightning mastery that makes max mana to add as shock effect.
Do you have a PoB or tree for that? And would it work as a league start? that sounds really fun

I'm level 61 and I just hit act 7 , I'm 10+ levels over the content and I feel weak. It's a melee range caster

Brother if you can't clear yellow maps with 10mill damage that is certainly not a problem with the build
@@KingJerbear The 10M was peak on a single target that has all the debuffs and is standing still. It doesn't happen very often.

Easiest way to get new gems if you chose wrong? Start a new character with your current class, choose different gems, put them in your stash. Done.
