Well here come the comments, just gonna say a few things here before people go saying “it’s cause it’s a 2nd gen” or try and blame it on unrelated things, I’ve been making 600+ whp for almost 10k miles without issues, a first gen FA20 wouldn’t even make it off the dyno with that much power. this was 100% caused by the clutch slipping. What likely happened was the ECU saw no load while screaming at the top of 5th clutch slipping; and compensated by adding a bunch of timing. Being during a 5th gear pull, that is a ton of power and stress on the car. Shit happens and Chris will come back stronger. -Austin

just a heads up about the statement you made at the end Chris. Building a block with strong internals rated for high hp is important even if your power goals aren’t demanding of it! Having a built block is not necessarily what makes more power, you build your block to handle higher amounts of power safely . It’s all about durability and what the block can handle. You said the stock block is enough for you because it made 600hp and that you don’t need a built one to “make” more power but who knows how long the stock block will last and how reliable it will be in the future. You want a built one so it’ll last longer when your beating it up making power significantly more than stock. Hope this makes sense. If anyone disagrees, im open to constructive feedback.

Always consider engine life in “WOT minutes”. There’s no definite power number for any platform where the motor stays reliable regardless of abuse. For instance a stock motor in most platform usually has a lot of “WOT minutes” left in it. Once you turn up the power you remove a lot of those WOT minutes remaining. Building a motor isn’t more so about holding the power, it’s about increasing the amount of TIME it can hold that power at WOT.

I had my Gen 1 86 turbo for 8 years for almost 100k and sold it at 140k miles pushing around 300hp with no issues on stock internals. Anything more than 350 you are really rolling the dice. Not surprised this one blew at the power range it was pushing.
l can feel your pain bro, maybe l am not the owner but anyone who see this will feel it. We are here to keep supporting you and this is not the end, as you said everything happens for a reason.
Sorry to hear man. With stock internals this engine won’t last.. The cylinder walls will distort and you will throw a rod. You need to beef up the engine to handle that kind of power.. In the low 300whp range would have been safe. Too much boost for stock internals… You have to know the limits of your engine and it’s not 550whp. Low 300whp would have been reliable bottom line. 550whp is asking for it. Do your research so you know what the limits are safely. It’s not a 2JZ.
Wanted to comment on the dyno vid, that kinda power on a stock motor was wild! Glad you’re good bro, time for a real motor setup that can take the abuse!
Once i had turbos learnt not to go red line. Had a spunk crank pulley lucky internally no bent or cracked stuff just jumped 2 teeth. Replaced guides timing chain and upgraded the crank pulley. Coming from NA red line is wonderful. Just in my setup redline loses power so i dont need to go there. Learn and live get better each step of the way.
Bro don’t feel bad man…. That’s exactly how I spun a rod bearing in the frs….. I missed 3rd coming down a hill and it hit 8k rpm’s and when I stopped “got food” then came back to start it and it sounded like a bag of bolts in the block…. I know it sucks but you can fix it!
Beautiful car, but the stock block CANNOT handle 400+ reliably on both FA and EJ engines. Reputable bottom end with forged internals, build to handle 750 and you can run 550 reliably, with EJ and FA engines you gotta build for higher than you plan on making if you want it to be reliable. You'll make a crazy comeback I know it.

I had my Gen 1 86 turbo for 8 years for almost 100k and sold it at 140k miles pushing around 300hp with no issues on stock internals. Anything more than 350 you are really rolling the dice. Not surprised this one blew at the power range it was pushing.
My FRS at 350ish running great years later!
l can feel your pain bro, maybe l am not the owner but anyone who see this will feel it. We are here to keep supporting you and this is not the end, as you said everything happens for a reason.
Much love bro!!
Felt the pain through the screen bro. Sorry this happened but glad you’re safe at least.
Better days will come 🙏🏽
Hurts to see to see it go so fast. But hope you’re okay. you will grow even bigger after this fall. Can’t wait to see what’s next!
RIP man that's beyond unfortunate but there's always better things to come.
In the light of things that was one of the best content I’ve seen since 2020..
🙏🏻❤️
Wanted to comment on the dyno vid, that kinda power on a stock motor was wild! Glad you’re good bro, time for a real motor setup that can take the abuse!
These FA24s are known to hold way more power than FA20. Even the FA24 in the WRXs are pushing high numbers!
@@chris_borges whatever you got planned I’m sure it will be dope
Once i had turbos learnt not to go red line. Had a spunk crank pulley lucky internally no bent or cracked stuff just jumped 2 teeth. Replaced guides timing chain and upgraded the crank pulley. Coming from NA red line is wonderful. Just in my setup redline loses power so i dont need to go there. Learn and live get better each step of the way.
Breaks my heart but BRZ revival series gonna be hype 🔥
Chris I'm your fans from Taiwan, I really like to watch your videos, cheer up it's not the end.
BRZ will getting to the next level. [More high quality]🔥😂
Hahahaha more high quality!! 😂😂
That money shift was TOP OF THE LINE! HIGH QUALITY! 😅
😂😂😂😂😂 never money shifted
wow.... eso es duro ,casi lloro al verlo, se lo duro que puede ser dedicarle tanto tiempo y dinero a un proyecto y acabar mal... mucho animo estoy seguro que despues de esta experiencia saldra mucho mejor
You will bounce back from this, always be positive God has something bigger soon!!!
Damn, that blows. Time to go higher to even better things tho, just takes time.
Nooo not the current gen BRZ 😮 hope you come back even better 🙏🏽
BASURU! Had a blobeye eye went through 2 motors in 2 months. Team Redeye now
I think I’m gonna chill on the pulls now so I don’t blow my motor on my 86 with a bad clutch. You got me scared now Chris 😂. I hope everything goes well on the rebuild and that car will be better than ever when it’s done.❤
Fix it asap bro have this video be a lesson. 😭
Damn… I had something similar happen to my BRZ. My ECU kinda freaked out and my check engine light came on and my car basically did like a 2 step in the freeway. Thank God nothing bad happened but it scared me, sorry to see the BRZ go down. Hopefully it’ll be back.
that’s tough chris honestly you said it yourself Clutch and Tires😬but during the drive with your neighbor i enjoyed the laughs, that’s how me and the homies are
Def worth it those laughs and smiles I can feel the fun through my screen 🫣😂
Was definitely a good time!
from a real brz owner, if you thinking about getting a brz etc once you get it jus have fun w it and blow up the FA, don’t waste your money on it even if you plan to be casual and daily it, just swap it, LS3 or any JZ are perfect for this car or ls7
Sucks to see but you got this, appreciate you trying to stay positive though. Keep your head up bro. We here for you
Sucks dude. Blew my STI last year. Not a hole but spun a bearing. IAG short block now, forged everything. 500whp and she’s back and better than ever.
Dont worry too much about it man at the end of the day itll get fixed, part of the jdm life
Yessir! All part of the game.
The comeback is gonna be crazy 🔥🙌
working on it as we speak 👀
On a serious note, I wish you all the best. I’m truly sorry that this happened to you. Keep on grinding!
bruh so fast in that Brz he started speaking español😂 con carnal y toda la madre🫡 On the new motor build the block before you slap it back in👍🏻
Aye man, For all you know the engine blowing saved your life, Keep going your strong !!
I remember racing this audi one night returning home from the club. And my motor had little to no oil and yeah... I was going to get an oil change the next day but that night before I decided to race the audi.. and yeah I learned a lesson for sure.
Has subaru ever made anything good?
The good thing is you are a content creator so you can profit from this videos and you enough supporters to help you get it back together. Also it didn’t set on fire so that’s a plus as well. Could be worse bruh you’ll be fine 😌
Yo Chris, I know I'm not the only one who would buy some blown BRZ "everything happens for reason" merch! Keep your head up and thanks for always dropping content for us!
In the works brotha! 🙏🏻👀
God has a plan for you Chris. Keep being you.
Part of the plan. 🙏🏻
You talked about engine swapping the frs but i feel like its the brzs turn now like perfect opportunity @@chris_borges
Been there with my evo x, blew the motor shortly after I bought the car and it sucked and was down for 6 months but came back stronger and got a built block and now make 500whp and 550whp on my full send map, all a part of the process don’t sweat it you got another car just talk with a shop on figure out what route you wanna go
noooooo chris. that sucks man i hope everything can be okay in the end.
Dang man I’m so sorry I loved that car 😢
All good bro well bounce back 🙏🏻
I’m sorry man this happened to you, but just to let you know that I am always gonna be here as one of you follower👊💓
Sorry that happened, I was enjoying all the new stuff. So this will be the new build.
Time to rebuild! 🎉
threw a turbo kit on a stock boxer engine what did u expect lol
They're blowing up from stock so throwing a turbo is just going to speed up that process lol
I had a 13 sti and babied the crap out of it (never blew it up thank god) but I always worried of this. I’m so sorry hopefully something bigger comes with the car!
Was a good vid for the ride home!! Can’t wait for it to come back!
Much love bro appreciate you taking care of my whips and the tows!!
@@chris_borges yessir! Every and anytime brother!
way to stay positive! Can't wait to see the new stuff
🙏🏻💯
Your neighbor has the best energy haha. You’ll bounce back bro 🙏🏼🙏🏼
We need “Top Of The Line” merch now😂😂 like maybe cartoony style text with the BRZ as a cartoon car with the hood open and smoking or just something like a timeline of events on the channel on merch
Way to keep your head up bro! I know for a fact I would be down in the dumps. Definitely something I gotta work on.
That’s why I was asking before if that hp number was safe in the video when you took it to az to get done. The numbers didn’t look safe for a stock motor to me..Hope it comes back better and stronger 💪
subbed first time watching. you got the vibe i like. hyped for whats next
Appreciate you tuning in!
Bro money shifted fs with the clutch
Feel nice to have all that power bro but your turner max it out and you never want that because this will happen. I have 08 STI stage 2 built block 600+whp FP black turbo 1300CC radium duo hanger 2 450 Walbro pump upgrade fuel lines e85 FMIC etc… list goes on. And I’m only pushing 465whp because I want reliability and I smash on it everyday going on a year and no problem and changing my oil every 1500. Hope you change your oil after your dyno. Number 1 rule.
But you smashing all the time. I already knew this was gonna happen. Spend the 10k for a built block and you’ll be good to go.
Luv video. Good luck bro.
Broo sorry to hear! I literally just blew my 2023 brz up last night, made it to 45k km. What timing 🫠
What went wrong/what happened?
@Flunoir got a full video coming soon explaining but basically went up a slight incline while turning and it starved the motor and spun a bearing :/
@@DMNTails so you can’t take turns in a car made for them?? I was considering the new BRZ but idk anymore…
@Flunoir honestly it has been flawless until it wasn't sadly, absolutely love it but it's still a boxer at the end of the day :/
