    How to fix a low water pressure and flow problem on a brand new build house.
    As you will see in this video the water pressure on this house is really bad, to the point of the shower upstairs doesn’t even work… it dribbles out of your lucky.
    Water flow rate upstairs is around 3/4 litres a minute... this is how to fix the issue
    Fitting the Salamander Home Boost Main booster solves the problem and now the house has the water and flow rate it should have….. 12litres a minute…

    I would have checked the flow rate without the stop tap on. I work on many new builds, seen main stop taps full of stones and grit. Even had a situation like this, and it was to a blocked water meter in the boundary box.

    Guarantee if you'd have done away with that PRV you'd have achieved the same outcome! Why have a PRV on a supply that only has 15 meters head coming in in the first place. They are a constant issue and are almost always the problem. Pumps only really work on a tanked system. How can you increase pressure when the incoming pressure is determined in the main. There should never be poor flow on a 25mm MDPE service. There is obviously a flow restriction!

    • @MJTiffPlumbing
      @MJTiffPlumbing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MJTiffPlumbing trouble with plumbers these days is that they don't understand the science behind the water. You can't just magic up pressure. The pressure is determined in the main and no pump will make a difference. You've basically just spent 100's of pounds to remove a flow restriction. See it multiple times per week

    • @SalamanderPumps
      @SalamanderPumps ปีที่แล้ว

      The pump activates when the water flow rate reaches 3 litres per minute, it recognises this using a turbine, and boosts the water flow to 12 litres per minute.

    • @johnmac6568
      @johnmac6568 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SalamanderPumps not disputing how your pump works but the fact that there was 3 litres per minute at a new build property suggests that there is a restriction in flow simply down to the fact that if it was actually that amount being pumped in then not only would all the properties in the street be affected but the water undertaker would not be meeting the standards of service that Ofwat outline. In my area (North West) the dynamic pressure and flow standards are 9lts of flow at 1 bar pressure. This guy has fitted a pump instead of finding the root cause of the problem. Either the PRV is defective or there is a restriction somewhere further back on the MDPE service. Possibly squashed somewhere restricting the flow. Usually poorly ducted at point of entry.

    Absolutely shocking!
    Quality of new builds these days is unbelievable. I'd take a nice old victorian house over the crap they shoveling out these days. Just a shame all the first time buyer schemes only let you buy new builds.
    They should start fining these companies every single time they hand over a property with defects, they'll soon sort it out then. Right now there's just no consequences for them so they'll keep doing it until something finally drops. Some of the defects they get away with are downright dangerous.

    If your sons place is like this the entire estate probably is. We come across it a lot in Sussex where they haven't turned the local boosting station on yet due to the sites not being complete or when they have they haven't flushed the mains so the filters on the pressure reducers are clogged.
    For anyone wondering why the pressure regulators are put in it's due to warranty on the fittings in the property. They can't comply with NHBC scheme if they don't put the relevant measures in place, sadly they will still try to worm their way out of ever paying out for messing up on new builds.

    Water companies have to provide (to the water responsibly boundary) for a single domestic building 1bar whilst running a flow of 9lpm. When on a shared supply these go up…e.g 1bar with 18lpm flow for 2 props.
    Some areas are just low pressure because they may be high up a hill however water companies are now fitting PRV(like the domestic one but a lot bigger and more sophisticated) on large water mains outside to pressure manage entire water networks. They are well within rights to do so as it’s all regulated by ofwat…just annoying for everyone else to adapt their plumbing to suit.

    Interesting , are there flow restrictor’s on the taps ?
    Greetings from Australia, I’m sure you have , normally I’d check from outside , see what pressure is like outside coming in at the main or at the water meter outside .
    Does yr local utility guarantee a certain mains pressure ?
    Why is it so under pressure / flow in the first place ?
    BTW 33 degrees c , is winter in Australia …😂.

    I remember I fitted one of those salamander tap boost pumps about 7 years ago in a 10th floor flat .I had never fitted one before and was sceptical.but I did everything it said it would.and as far as I know still working today.
    Water companies I think are committed to providing a minimum of 0.7 bar .or aim to provide 1.0 bar of at the end of there communication pipes.

    What a shame for the builders who leave the building unusable. They should fix it under warranty. The second thing is, why install the PRV before of the booster pump? How was the pressure with the mains without PRV? What point is to fit PRV when mains pressure is low? Hm

    • @pedrosmits

      I just don’t understand, why you didn’t replace the T-joint going into the rest of the house, behind the sink. You could feed the rest of the house directly after the booster. Now you first get a few turns and several 90 turns, before you go into the house. Also the 2 90 turn of the old spot of the PRV look a little it’s made by an amateur. Just take a few more minutes to look for improvements of your plan, I’m sure you’ll see them too.
