Gulati is not pro government, he does not take a moral stand as P Sainath does. It is about Money spent on agriculture and the outcomes. Right now with the current system government subsidizes a lot but the benefit does not come to the farmer. Instead it distorts markets benefitting consumer and middlemen.

If in the interest of consumers we can have a legally binding law to fix the MRP of toothpaste than why not have an MSP for wheat paid to farmers by the consumer.
