I have never stretched this muscle in my life, and my right leg is heavily externally rotated. I've been trying to stretch every other muscle, but what you showed in this video works amazingly! Again, I have never stretched this muscle, and I have no chance of getting as flat as you did, but this feels great. Thank you (can't believe people don't mention this in every other tutorial I have seen about externally rotated hips).
Thanks I've been dealing with satorius muscle problem for over a year. Been doing your stretch for a week now feels great. Two orthopedic Doctors said I need full hip replacement. They didn't want to listen. When pointed to the problem area. The point in the front area. I knew I didn't need replacement. They seen my top notch insurance Plan. 80k per hip. Thanks again!
Great video this long muscle it was causing me all sorts of problems I'm a skateboarder and it's my leg that I stand on in the front hard not to have a muscle imbalance in that sport
Great instructional video, and holy crap this stretch is insane!! I'm now gonna start doing this stretch daily because I really need it. One question though: I noticed that you're slightly arching your lower back, but my lower back has to be seriously arched for me to be able to lean back and get into position. What do you recommend: should I use my elbows as support instead or allow for some arching and work on pressing my lower back closer towards the ground instead (it naturally gets closer to the ground after about 30 secs in the position)? Again, great video and thanks a bunch! :)
Stvafel I would definitely use the elbows until you can get into the other position with the back on the ground but it’s okay to arch a little as long as no back pain
Looks great! I had femora plasty hip surgery. Surgery involved a scope and the holes went right through this area. I have been having muscle problems since. I can’t wait to try this stretch!! FYI love the pants!!
Thank you for sharing. I do this 3 times a week now. What can I do to strengthen the Sartorius as well? Will it help to get it stronger to? It is only my right hand side where it joins at the bottom of my knee on the side where it hurts.
Have you had any cases with a tight or weak lower sartorius or gracilis under the vmo cause any pelvis issues? Like posterior rotated ilium or even hip hike.
Great video, just have a quick question: I've been struggling with inner knee pain for over a year now but it only hurts when my knee is in full flexion either when sitting on your heels like you were (hero pose in yoga) or sitting cross legged trying to pull the heel into the groin. I've eliminated the common issues like meniscus problems and can't seem to figure out the problem. Do you think it could be the sartorius insertion at the pes anserine?
It's really hard to know without seeing you and assessing you in person. It could be anything that attaches to the pes anserine, like the hamstring, groin muscle or the sartorius... it could also be the MCL, or it may be due to the fact that that your hips happen to turn more inward into internal rotation which causes extra stress on the inside of the knee, and in that case, maybe those positions aren't the best for you based on your unique anatomy. I would recommend going to a local physical therapist and getting an assessment because I really am just give you possibilities at this point.
Heya I'm having a similar problem. When stretching for taekwondo any of the legs apart stretches or high round or side kicks really pull on the pes anserine area and cause awful pain. It also happens when I sit cross legged. I know I am very tight in my hips and legs and I am convinced this has something to do with tight sartorius and other pes anserine muscles. This stretch felt fantastic. I'm going to stretch nearly every day with this and other stretches and I think it will help.
@@sk8erbec I've found that my problem was likely caused from having an anterior pelvic tilt for many years. When in this pelvic position, the pes anserine muscles get shortened and weak. If you try standing in a posterior pelvic tilt and then straighten your legs, you will find it pulls on these muscles or your hamstrings if this is your problem as well.
Wat do you think ,that its increasing the pressure on lumbar spine by increasing the lordosis. Any alternative?? Though the stretch is really good but the only thing I found was increased pressure on lordotic curve.
Good morning! Thank you for reaching out to ask! It can help for sure but consistency is key when it comes to long term relief. It can take up to 6 weeks sometimes for a big difference but you can start to notice small differences in less time.
So I have a sharp pain right on my asis, I assume it's the sartorious muscle at its origin. I do alot of squats, because of strength training and omfg this had me tapping in like 30 seconds. Some of the pain feels lifted but it's hard to tell right now. I will check back to let you know if it helped. All other sartorious stretches didn't do shit for me.
@@ThePhysioFix thanks, it seems to have gone away, but I also experienced a couple other wonky issues in other places around the knee later. But feeling pretty good now
My sartorius is tight and it seems to pull and my patella which causes pain in the patella area. I've been using a roller on the lower part of the sartorius with success

An example of needless surgery thanks
Ralph, old thread I know, but have you still been able to avoid surgery?
I love your pants (legging's) They are awesome coming from an A and P perspective and nursing student!
Very good video demonstration!
thank you....this helped so much
Thank you so much!! Helped so much
Glad it helped!
Nice stretches for a healthy sartorius muscle. I need baby steps to reach this level of stretching for my right satorius muscle.
felt great. thanks
Those are some sick tights, I should get those too
Wonderful pants! Always confused what muscle is where and these pants make it very helpful!
You are really doing great

Seeing you move and walk around with those "muscle" pants is super weird and cool at the same time. Great stretch video, thank you!

@@ThePhysioFix this morning on a rest day I did your IG Full Body Foam Roller … just what my body needed!
I love your pants. I like to know exactly where my muscles are and what they do. Where did you get it? I want one!
A very nice exercise. Thank you very much!

You will have to let me know how it goes! The pants are pretty fun aren't they?!!
@@ThePhysioFix definitely a lot of work to do with this stretch. I’ve been focusing on the hip flexors but this is gonna be a work in progress…
@@ThePhysioFix you make the stretch look easy. Great helpful videos!
This is probably a very helpful stretch but i can't do it because i've had both of my knees replaced. Do you have other ways?
Very detailed explanation 👍

Good demonstration but I think u need to speed your throwing
Keep the good work 👍🏽

Only stretch that works to my sartorius.
useful :) thank you beauty!

I wonder where can I get this leggings! Your video and explains are really understandable

Should it be easy to lie back while doing this ? The quad that in stretching lifts off the ground really high when I try lie backwards.
Thanks.
Tight quads
Good vid but I am not sure...I already have a problem with that muscle.
My dream is to be on that pose. My body is hard as a rock. Thank you for the video. I’ll implement it on my daily routine. 😂💀

cool pants
Thank you! They are one of my favorites!
How long would one hold this stretch?? How often would one do this stretch? Ty,
I would hold it at least 30 seconds up to a minute :)
Beautiful legs
Should be callled The Physio FOX
Looks like you might get a slight scratch on the tfl also
Joe Botz absolutely
How long should i stay streched ?
I would suggest 2-3 sets of 20-30 seconds but however long feels good to you!
Hi. So which sartorious are you streching ? The right or left one?
Hagencito87 the right side in this video!
The Physio Fix thanks for the video. For how.long do.i have to hold the stretch and how many repetitions can i do ?
Hagencito87 I would hold it 30 to 60 seconds and do 2 to 3 sets on each side! I'm glad you like the video 😊
Question! You said that one of the actions of sartorius is knee flexion. Then, don't you extend your knee to stretch sartorius muscle?
Good afternoon! Thank you for reaching out to ask! The sartorius does multiple things and this stretch hits them all :)
Where can i get this pant ??
Prakash Subash blackmilkclothing!

I think I have tendinitis where it attaches below the knee
