    I have the same bike since January and I love them. Size M, I am 1.79. Of course, it needed more development and I changed the cassette for a Shimano Deore 11-40, keeping the 105 derailleur and it's just perfect. It doesn't have many kilometers, now about 800, but every day I like this Triban more. A greeting from Spain.

      Hi Alejandro, thanks for the comment.
      I agree, it's an amazing bike and I love it more everyday too. I am considering putting a 11-40 on it too. Did you need to change the chain or adjust the derailleur or was it just a straight swap?

    • @alejandronavgar8798
      @alejandronavgar8798 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheHealthyTeacher Yes, also change the chain, to be able to adjust the longer length. Adjust the derailleur with the stop screw to the maximum. Works like butter...

      But the Shimano 105 R7000 is only compatible with 34 teeth as far as I know. So it is possible to upgrade the cassette to 40? Would really appreciate if you could help me with that

    • @alejandronavgar8798
      @alejandronavgar8798 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, they say that the maximum that the 105 allows is 34 teeth, however, after watching some videos on TH-cam, I used a Shimano Deore 11-40 cassette and a new chain to adapt to the new maximum length.
      The derailleur stop adjustment screw must be adjusted to its maximum (without forcing anything).
      Shifting now works even smoother with the Microshift 11-34.@@opoja92

    Thanks for the video! What was your average speed with the stock tyres? In other words, what is the gain with the Gravelking SS (32kph on flat?)?

    • @TheHealthyTeacher

      I wanted to change the tyres pretty quickly for my style of riding. I was probably hitting 28kph before but I wasn’t using them in group rides.

    I now have it, changed the stem, even if im 1, 86m i find the frame very long with a normal stem. I went with a 30mm witch i suggest you try, i personally love it.
    Went for a 400mm bar from discover 12° of flare. Bought some gel pads that goes under the bar tape. I find it now funny to ride but with a longer stem it really sucks not becouse of me, i have very good flexibility, but it makes the bike impossibile tu ride.
    That Said next time ill go for an M size with witch i can play with the stem length and find the Perfect fit✌️🌌🦋

    I just watched your vid for the 520 Sram version, what's the story have you upgraded and why ?, sorry if that sounds abrupt. I have the road 520 (105) but for health reasons(long story) want stay off the road but still want to cycle. I wouldn't hesitate to buy either just be interesting your view.
    There's a price difference of about £100 in UK, the more I try find out to make some sort of "informed" decision the more confused I get.
    I'm 63 as well so wont be doing any racing haha.

      Hey, basically I decided to make use of Decathlon's 365 return policy and swap for the subcompact with 2by gearing and 700cc wheels. Both great bikes though to be honest! I also have a Canyon Grizl now which is my luxury gravel bike! Ha

    My doubt is that is slow on roads, i have a mtb 11kg 29 inch, same tire size but is very slow on roads. I need something fast on traffic streets but comfy when climate sucks and its raining. I dont know if i should go for the normal rc 520 with larger road tires? Or subcompact? I do 80% road but the roads here in Latina near Rome are really bad made. What your max Speed on straight roads? Have you pushed it that far? 🙏💛🦋🍀💚🎊🎇🌻

      Hi there! I have the RC Gravel 120 with 11-40 cassette and 44T crank (upgraded from stock 38T). It came with 38c Hutchinson Override and I have changed to Tubeless 37c WTB Riddler. With the 38c Hutchinson, I could easily manage an average of 30-31 kmph and a top speed of 48 kmph. Haven't pushed the Riddler to its limit yet.
      I personally prefer 1x drivetrains as they are easier to live with. If you are having a doubt between the regular 520 or the Gravel 520, I would suggest you to go for the Gravel 520 considering your use case. Even in India, the roads are quiet bad and Gravel bikes are saner alternatives to road bikes. Having been to Italy, I have seen liberal use of Cobblestones and Gravel bikes are more comfortable and reliable.
      You could also consider upgrading to a Tubeless tyre so that you can reduce your pressure and have a more pliant ride. You could also upgrade the stock bar tapes to something like Ciclovation Advanced (I have upgraded to these and it makes a huge difference). All the best and safe riding!

      I am 182cm. I went with the large. I think if you’re in between you need to think what you will use it for. Personally, I think this bike has an all day geometry meaning you sit more upright and you are in a more relaxed position. If I was in between in this case I’d go L. If you want it to be more nimble and agile and you want to do shorter, quicker and more reactive rides you can flip the stem and get an M but it really depends! Can you try them in store?

      @@eighteenfiftynine If I am honest, nothing specifically. I just saw this one at Decathlon and decided to sell my 1by for a 2by as I do lots of road riding and gravel riding, maybe a 50/50 split. The fact this one has 700cc wheels as opposed to 650b also made me want to switch it up.
      I originally got the 1by as soon as Decathlon's gravel bikes became available here in Italy. At that time, this 2by with the 700cc wasn't available. I usually go Shimano over Sram too, but only because I know how to work on Shimano.
      To be honest the 1by was also a superb bike. They are really both amazing value, it just comes down to your style of riding.

    • @TheHealthyTeacher
      @TheHealthyTeacher  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eighteenfiftynine Understood. Yeah the smaller wheels can make a difference, though maybe less than bike marketers and manufacturers would have you believe. To be honest, I find the frame fantastic and I always feel very comfortable on the Triban frames. Their geometry just suits my body. Not super aggressive or super relaxed, a perfect balance, for me, though everyone is made differently.
      Can you get to a store to try both models maybe? You can also rent bikes from Decathlon I believe. You could rent the Sram model one day and then the Shimano another day.
      The one I have in this video has Shimano 105 which in my opinion is the best groups Shimano make in terms of price to performance. It is unbeatable. I have a road bike with Ultra and tbh this more recent 105 revision is better. Smoother shifting, better ergonomics up top and a real nice feeling when shifting.
      Anyway, I hope you find your dream bike. Try not to overthink it like I have done in the past. Just get out there and ride! See you out there one day 😃
