    I'm a huge supporter of Air Ride. I used to be like everyone is when they don't know, "It's just a gag or gimmick". Then I worked on a mid sized passenger bus, 35 passenger, and my mind was forever changed.
    The improvement in vehicle control was huge. Even more so was the ride quality, empty or fully loaded.
    You made a great choice to go with Air ride. When you can't tell the difference of empty or loaded you know that you've got it right.
    For those of us who have driven with a bouncy, almost uncontrollable load, when you get behind the wheel and the only difference that you notice is the weight that's when you gain a true appreciation for Air Ride. You control the load, or the load control you, you decide.

    • @cognitivedissonancecamp6326
      @cognitivedissonancecamp6326 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Air bags help the truck lift under load, so that the handling is normalized and the headlights point where they should, air ride is a whole different animal.
      Your point is salient though!

    As an aside, I mounted my compressor to the inside of an ammo can lid. Drilled a few cooling holes and mounted it under the truck. Lid mounted to truck. Protects the entire compressor from dirt n mud. Unlatch and swing down container to check on it. Lotsa different ammo cans sizes. Should also put in tiny drain hole just in case you drive thru deep water

    I would have mounted that compressor inside behind the seat or inside the toolbox. I have 7500lb bags with Bluetooth compressors, and mine is mounted on the frame where we thought it would survive, and now it's completely dead. The elements killed it.

    I believe the Timbren SES is a superior suspension enhancement. Simple, no leaking, no controls, no failing compressor.
    I installed a compressor like that in my RV. Within a year it seized due to being exposed to moisture. The cylinder and piston rusted. Definitely want to mount those inside.

    Just an FYI about your truck, if you want to make it a long distance hauler, replace the stock fuel tank with one from S B Filters. They make one that is a 62 gallon tank that mounts where the stock tank is now. It comes with the correct fuel pickup/gauge sender. I have one on my Duramax truck and it's great when you're pulling a heavy trailer.

      Yeah my 18' ram 3500 only gets about 11 miles to the gal pulling 29k lb goose neck. That gets me about 250 miles (usually 200 useable because I don't like being too low on fuel) per tank of fuel. I've been wanting to get an after market tank for it just having a hard time getting over the pricetag hahaha

    There is a small percentage i personally assembled that specific airide assembly. I worked at the plant where those are made, and ran the crimpers that assembled the top and bottom plates to the bellow (air bag). Just know each airide assembly is tested to at least 180psi for a minimum of 5 seconds on 4" parts and 15 seconds on 5" or larger parts.
    They are very high quality, where the plates are formed, fittings attached, and put through a furnace to make an air-tight seal at their Dyersburg, TN, plant. They are then packed and sent out for plating, then returned to the plant for assembly.
    I was hoping to catch a look at the white tag on the plate to see if it had my operator number. 😅

    Hey guys, I’ve installed many of those kits in the past on company trucks and they have never lasted more than 6 months.. keep a close eye on all the brackets as they come loose often. The last couple i installed i welded into place and the brackets still ended up bent in no time. Now I just add extra leaf springs and deal with the rougher ride when empty

    • @melsjunk2645
      @melsjunk2645 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I had Air Lift brand for years, manual 12 volt compressor but guages and valves plumbed into the dash, lasted years and years but that was in the 90's, not sure if the quality of brackets are as good now. Saved leaf springs from breaking on a lot of logging road driving, new leafs, shocks and bags after replacing many broken leafs 😂 live and learn individually

    I have an 09 Dodge diesel crew cab long bed. I put my air compressor under the driver's door on the frame. I drilled a hole in the floor under the seat so that I could use cab air for the compressor. I put a manual gauge under the hood for the main air tank, and I use a manual slide switch just like I use in my air bag suspension on my T Bucket. It has a single gauge with 2 gauge pointers. One for each slide switch for each air bag. Mine works well too.

    Just a friendly comment from a diesel mechanic, those dmaxes love fuel filtration. I highly suggest a air dog or fass lift pump/ filters

    You definitely need a generator! Take a v6 chev engine probably find a few generators at your dump Take the motors off make a chain drive off the v6 going to two or three generators wired into the correct voltage!

    Did I notice a dent in the driver side rear passenger door?? Otherwise, I tried to not get distracted and pay attention to the air bag installation, and grandma Lolli and her humor and words of wisdom.

    fun fact..... 2 sets of kleinn model 102 horns sounds great and an easy add on for trucks with onboard air. one was alright but the 2nd set of horn makes it loud!

    now you can put an airhorn on it!
    you dont want to try and air those bags all the way up so youre sitting at a factory hight with a big trailer. they will be super rough.

    Grandma Lolly needs a special day. She contributes a lot to the show besides making sure you boys eat well. I can't believe how good your truck looks underneath. I'll stick with my old school bow ties. Good video.

    Instead of replacing my leaf springs probably 10 years ago, I installed a set of firestone air bags. They have been great. I can load way more than I should with them on there. One thing you may want to check into though, I am not sure its good for the bags when you let the axle fully droop.

    The new awning works great. I bet you wish you would have done this years ago.
