Thanks for this video. My dad passed away last fall and I’m the one running the farm now pretty much alone. I am, by no means whatsoever, a mechanic of any kind. I also can’t afford to hire a professional mechanic. I wish my dad would have been able to show me these things; he was brilliant. But now, with your video and the other amazing tutorials on TH-cam, I’m doing my own plumbing, mower repair, building, and now tractor repair. In a very short amount of time, I’m becoming pretty darn handy. I only wish Dad could see me now. Thanks again.
This is awesome, i’m sorry for your loss btw. I lost mine about a year ago now. Mine taught me many things but at the time i wasnt interested (I guess he knew i would learn it anyway even half-heartedly caring). We learn out of necessity the most it seems to me. These videos nowadays are a great tool and life would be much more difficult without them. It amazes me to think “dad’s” had to learn these things without ‘em. Must’ve been pretty difficult for them, but they do it because they care enough to provide. Keep at it, it’s good that you see you can do it, although it’s not easy.

I’m rebuilding a similar bucket cylinder and a couple differences I noted. The nut is held on with a roll-pin, which needs to be removed first. The inner seal carrier was bonded to the shaft with some sealant, which makes it difficult to remove. I’m still working on removing that without damaging the main rod assembly.

Thanks for this video. Very comprehensive, which was exactly what I needed having never done this job before (had been putting off attempting it for ages). You taught me everything I needed to know and my job turned out perfectly. Thanks again.
Hello, your bank has not responded today? We will have a holiday next week and the bank will also be closed, so if you can get a response this week, it would be the best time.
Great video for a newb like me to this whole tractor thing. My L2900 started leaking this weekend and now I have the confidence to learn something new and tackle the job! Thanks again!

Excellent tutorial! Thank you for making this project very DIY doable! I have a B7800 with 700 hrs and it’s 19 yrs old, this will be the first replacement of seals and wipers in the upper pistons
Project done! Great success! My only challenge was getting the collar cap removed, I didn’t have the spanner wrench and couldn’t find one to buy, I had my local Kubota dealer unscrew the cap with their tools! Again, thanks for the tutorial!
Thank you so much for making this video. It takes the scare out of it for me to try it on my own. I have a BX23 and it is the back-hoe cylinder. I should be very similar. You did an excellent job.

Well, I got it back together. Thanks for the hint about collapsing the inner seal. Grove side out would have helped my confidence but steady as she goes, Lad.
Thanks for the upload . I have an LA681 loader on a Kubota L4310 tractor my seals leaking on the loader cylinder do you have a part number for seals and best place place to buy . I am assuming it is the same prosses just like this one . Thanks
Great video! Thanks so much! I'm about to try this next weekend on my BX. Pretty sure I blew the seals out when herkin' and jerkin' a vine covered fence out of the ground lol
One problem I'm having with this is the paint on the rod. That can contribute to the sweeper damage and may be why the other fellow done it twice and now you're rebuilding it again! That rod needs to be clean. Anything on that rod, scratches, paint , tar, all will damage your sweeper seal. I'm sure you figured it out but that tiny o- ring went over the threaded end behind that nut. Great vid.!! I've done mine several times each and I wish I'd had you tube back when I first got it. They are pretty self explanatory though if you have any curiosity or mechanical knowledge though.
I was going to do the same, but for the price of the gaskets and the trouble of doing the work, I found it was cheaper to buy beefier hydraulic cylinders from Majestic. Simply take off and replace!
Great video. You’re such good teacher. Give me confidence to do 0:08 it myself. I also found the tool you mentioned on Amazon. One thing I am missing is the diagram and the part number on the web for free. I wonder if you can kindly let me know the part number since I have the same tractor as the one you demo and also a copy of the paper you showed on the video. Greatly appreciated.
Great video. I’m fixing mine following your video. Just curious … is the repaired cylinder need to be filled with hydraulic fluid prior to install back to the tractor ? I’m not see on the video… how air in cylinder is removed ?
You can fill it after installation. When you start cycling the cylinder back and forth, air bubbles will be squeezed out. Make sure you cycle it enough before lifting any heavy loads.
You scare me with that pipe wrench. Try putting some protection on the exposed cylinder bf you use the pipe wrench, that way if you slip you don't kick and damage the cylinder. You could also try placing a short 1/4' bold in the hole for a better grab and less damage to the piston locking ring. With a bolt in place, with no pipe wrench, you can now tap the head of the bolt with a large punch and hammer to unlock it and twist it off with a large channel lock pliers; just my observation.
This was tremendously helpful. I'm assuming that the lift pistons are essentially the same drill? I just noticed a broken seal sitting under one of my L3010's lift pistons today :(
I'm about to do the cylinders on my John Deere. This gives me a good idea what to expect. They wanted $650 a piece for new cylinders at the JD stealership.
You'll spend over $100 easy on those tools that they recommend you use. What you see in this video is just patience and take your time and it'll work out fine

Thanks for all the demonstration. It was very helpful and took away a lot of fear.
Do you have to bleed the lines after installing it back on?

Wow. They lasted a long time! Good luck! 👍👍

Thanks. This helps.. But I think I’ll try to leave the cylinder body on the loader, to save a few steps.

Thanks! Let me know how it goes.

Nice job that's how we used to do on my work at a power plant
Thanks 👍

Thanks for your video. I have the exact same tractor with the same problem. Perfect instructions
There bad about leaking period
@@philliphall5198 I bought a seal kit and followed the video, easy and cheap fix. really appreciate these videos
Good informmation, thank you! I suggest one cleans the jack off away from the table or clean the table before reassembly.

How did you know which to buy? They are a direct replacement without modifying?

You don't have to remove the cylinders. You can just pull the rods out. Lots of extra work that's not needed

Amazing video, thank you. I’m going to do it on my Kubota Tractor
where did you get the Kubota rebuild kit? Thanks - Great ViD!!
Thank you, seeing you struggle made me purchase some cheap seal pliers, ha!
Good, Informative video. Thanks

fitting on side of cylinder, with hex head, mine is leaking there
If you don't have a vice just put the rod and pin back onto the tractor, then take off the nut.
Good point! Makes a ton of sense

John Deeres' moto should be "Nothing runs away with your money like a Deere"
Got the steal part right 😊
I am in the process of doing the same job on my 3010. Is there any bleeding of the hydrolic system when you reconnect everything?
Just cycle the loader a few times with no load before using it. Any trapped air will work its way out.

How To change the seal on transfer shifter on 275 Cumbolagearbox
Grate video very helpful
Do you know where to buy the gaskets I really appreciate it my friend thank you
I like watching clumsy people it makes me feel normal.
Thank you!!!
The internal rod might have spurs on the metal
Well I several different sizes of spaner wrench’s but im200 miles away
Sorry but great video again
I'll be more prepared next time.
That chrome rod needs replaced…. That’s why it’s not lasting. JMO
Makes it easier if you use the right tools. Not just a hammer and a pipe wrench. 🤣🤣🤣
What do you recommend instead? About to do this repair myself

do you need to bleed the system once you reinstall the cylinders?
Thank You!!
