Sur-Ron + Track-n-Go + KO Moto, aka The Snow-Ron, at Jones Pass, Colorado, 29-March-2023

The ultimate electric snow bike! Some of you already know how awesome the Sur Ron electric motorcycle is on dirt and MX. Track-N-Go makes a super clever kit that makes it a super rad snow bike as well. I took my buddy Phil up Jones Pass, Colorado for some snowy backcountry tele-skiing, ascending 2,000 ft to nearly 12,500 ft elevation, and had another super rad day in fresh powder. The Snow-Ron has the torque to pull it off!
Here's the current update on the Sur Ron mods that makes this setup work:
1. KO Nano motor controller, tuned to 150 line amps: www.ko-moto.com/
2. Two (2) high power batteries from our local Colorado battery builder Jason Hall at Golden Electric. Rebuilt the stock battery case with 176 new Molicel 18650 cells, which supports 60v x 30 ah and up to 300 line amps: www.goldenelec...
3. The AWESOME Track-N-Go kit from Canada. This is such clever engineering. They also supplied the spare battery case which is mounted under the seat. I made a custom electrical harness that connects both batteries at the same time in parallel (used silicone sheathed 8 AWG wire with the stock plug connections on all ends). Having 2 batteries wired up at once reduces the load and heat on the batteries by a LOT, and probably squeezes out 10-15% more range than before. Props to those guys: trucktracks.co...
4. Currently using a 54 tooth sprocket, which seems to be a good balance of uphill torque, top speed, and battery efficiency.
