    I work in the repair and tuning center at a ski shop and a dude in a wheelchair brought one of these in to be assembled and some skis to be mounted to it. That was one of the most fun and unique days I’ve ever had at work.

      Did it have 3 ski's?

    • @SilvaDreams

      @@menno763 These aren't new, they've been around since the 90's and I think originally were made up by a guy who loved sking/snowboarding but needed a wheelchair so him and a buddy made the ski bike. THe one I saw the guy had a little bucket seat he fit in and unlike these he had a friction brake that worked like a bike brake (basically it pushed some tongs down into the snow and dragged slowing you down) and unlike these it used two snowboard width skies instead of the two normal sized skies.
      He'd fly down the hard courses like nothing.

      Menno It’s called a sit ski. The man who ran the ski club at my school when I was young and got me into skiing was in a wheelchair and had a sit ski. Watching him shred down the mountain with that thing was incredible.

      I regularly get above 60mph on my ski bike, and while it hurts if you eat it. Most of the energy gets bled off as your sliding. And no the bike doesn’t ghost ride, you figure out real quickly to keep ahold of it and it slows you down quicker.

      Like I remember when I was in high school, most my friends had mountain bikes, but there was always that one friend who had a BMX bike with no gears, & he couldn't keep up with anyone, & it was just garbage for him. Like I'll never know why so many people keep buying these bikes when only a few people actually do tricks with them. Like if you aren't doing tricks just get a normal bike thats good for all the other bike stuff.

    Cool. When i was younger my friends and i would convert little kid's bikes into snowbikes, including suspension. We used skateboard trunks, those turned out to be perfect replacements for the axles, and we were able to weld them onto old metal, cut in half, ski's. Skateboard trunks also have sideward flex in them, perfect for turning in corners whilst skibiking. Replacing the original forks with old Rockshox's proved more difficult but we managed to get it sealed up proper and working. Had to use some kind of bungy cord attached to the front ski to keep it leveled straight, it would otherwise bite into the snow, amongst other small little upgrades we had to come up with along the way.
    Been ages, good memories!

    • @realpillboxer
      @realpillboxer ปีที่แล้ว

      @@abrahamsalamah5773 Nah, it's a bit more complex than that. It's mostly about the snow resort industry and learning curve.
      First, the snow resort industry is in a massive decline over the past 30 years. This is primarily driven by less people skiing and snowboarding. Less people doing those sports, less people even interested in trying snow biking. Two, learning curve. If it takes a mountain biker two or three days to become comfortable with a dual blade setup, how long is it going to take the recreational person that only makes it out to the slopes twice a season? In a sport whose culture is chock-full of privilege and incredibly harsh on newbies that makes little to no effort to entice new folks to join, adding a sharp learning curve is exactly what not to do.

      could help with carving too, giving you a more fluid feel when you bounce side to side. Like even being able to switch what foot is forward for the turns or carving. Kinda like when you're skiing. Probably give you more tail control with more leverage when one foot is more toward the rear. Also better spraying ability. I would imagine it would also be easier to do some manuals.

    • @Artcore103
      @Artcore103 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JETJOOBOY I imagine they're narrow so that you can do some hard carving where your ski-bike needs to get at some fairly extreme angles relative to the ground, wider set pedals would likely limit that as they'd be hitting snow. I'd be curious what it would be like to put regular offset pedals you can spin (with some adjustable built in resistance) on the ski bike, that way you can switch stance when you're carving left vs. right, and that pedal will be higher so it won't hit the ground. If you were used to a normal bike I imagine it might feel more comfortable at first, but perhaps not be superior vs getting used to the fixed ski bike pedals, although I imagine the extra width might aid in stability/control, so who knows. Haven't tried it but would love to.

    practically putting a pin in the central position of the blade, with the rest position upwards it is also enough 10, 15 degrees. I don't know how to explain.
    Instead of the pedals there are two covered platforms on the outer sides, which if by chance one slips the legs and feet remain protected.
    Great idea.
