In the mid 90's in country music there was Garth & everyone else, not to take anything away from guys like Alan Jackson or George Strait but Garth's energy & emotion can be felt while the rest just aren't on his level of stage presence. Loggins then asked him to share royalties and Brooks got hostile, so Loggins' guitarist and cowriter Guy Thomas sued. It never went to trial because the judge told Brooks he didn't have a chance and that he'd better settle, and he reluctantly did.
He did not just copy it!!! LOL I admit that Brooks song take inspiration from Loggings song and thus Brooks should have compensated him, however to say Brooks just copied Kenny's song is absurd and Brooks told Kenny that he liked the song and progressions and that was some of his inspiration not that he liked so he just copied it...
