Yeah I’ve been saying the same thing. I hate PW. It’s not very shaman at all. Chain harvest is a way better fit. Deals damage, heals, leave dot/hots. Earthliving weapon is very underrated. They need to put that baseline for resto shaman. Flametongue baseline… does nothing for resto. Undercurrent is a strange talent. They should take that out or have that baseline
Any raid build without Ascendence leaves ypu with only healing tide totem as a raid CD, which only heals good if people are really low and gets boosted by your mastery. So I can imagine we will have to ignore ancestral awakening if it is not exceprionally good and go with Ascendance and Deeply Rooted instead. But time and tuning will tell. No matter what, I wouldn't leave out ascendance, because then we are useless against burst damage.
16:35 On the topic of shaman raid buff, an interesting option I think would be to lean into shaman being a mana battery. Buff Mana spring and mana tide by a lot and allow that to be a unique selling point in a way. Maybe not the best option, but it would be something different, something interesting.
I'm new to healing but I've been playing the game since warlords of draenor and decided that since everyone was complaining about how rough healing can be that it would be the perfect time to learn healing so I made a resto shaman and started healing (nothing big at the most to 21 or 22). And what some of the changes they've been making it's kind of turning me off on healing. None of the other classes really look attractive to me as the fantasy of a resto shaman. Even though as a DPS and a tank I play monk rogue and death knight. All-in-all I really hope that blizzard listens to you and possibly maybe the developers for the rest of shamans back take time to pick your brain and to talk to you
"Don't get overly focused on numbers just yet" Yeah because the numbers part definitely gets balanced appropriately by the time a patch drops. Surely. Great video, Theun. All us Rsham refugees appreciate your commitment to this dead spec
Theun, for the 4pc, what do you recommend? My idea is on the spec Talent Tree remove Tidebringer and pseudo bake it in into the 4pc, Riptide has a 5-10% chance to proc Tidebringer buff lasts 20 seconds (stacks twice) causing your next Chain Heal and Healing Rain to be free and instant cast, applying Tidal Reservoir to all initial hit, (first hit on Healing Rain, all hit in Chain Heal). Essentially it allows us to then weave in Healing Rains and Chain Heals in all forms of content, has actual use in M+ especially when running Acid Rain, greatly helps with Mana issue and gives use as well to Chain Heal. Chain Heals bounce range isn’t boosted, but offset by applying Tidal Reservoir to all hit, not to mention instant and free to cast. It then keeps the play style Blizzard is pushing for but gives us the added benefit of holding chain heals and healings rains to use when needed. Great for mobility as well. Your thoughts?
Make chainheal a 2 charges ability and slighty stronger. It could also function with earthshield or riptide so uve a proc chance like lavasurge flameshock for instant cast or without mana. So uve ur mini cd already. And from there u can adjust the rest i would say..
I think Chain Heal should be the raid build and Surge/PW/Riptide build should be the M+ build. You can say Riptide is boring but mindlessly spamming Chain Heal in M+ is the most boring shit I've ever done, I swapped to the a Surge/PW build this season because Chain Heal was so freaking braindead and boring. Easily healing 23/24s in pugs with this build. I just wish they were more powerful, as of now, next season. Going to be pigeonholed into playing Disc or RDruid next season it's looking like.
I'd rather them introduce "ancestral winds" as a raid buff, 3-5% haste buff. Something on par with the other classes. Some extra mana won't do anything in terms of locking shamans into raid like other classes.
I'm abit worried about stat priority changing. It's going to boost our dmg for sure, which is nice, but it moves us further from a punchy heal spec to more of a HoT one, and that to me is what feels the weirdest. And now I'm almost abit alienated by what used to be my main way of interacting with the game
Yeah, after having played it for a few of the raid tests I just didn’t really feel like a shaman anymore. Already wasn’t planning on playing the spec next season without some talent tree tweaks, but the tier definitely isn’t my favorite
As a resto shaman since tbc i can say this is the worst I felt healing In any xpack as a resto shaman. Chain heal our main heal spell has been dead since shadowlands since pre patch of shadowlands they nerfed it by 11% then at launch of shadowlands they nerfed it another 9%. The nerf to high tides in BFA pre patch to shadowlands from 20% to 10% made it worthless thats my opinion on chain heal. As for fixing the spec give us chain harvest and remove downpour because no one uses it! Give resto shaman a 10-15% flat healing increase and bake in swirling currents its a wasted 2 points for a vast tree.
Gotta say, this has been the worst expansion i have ever experienced playing as a resto shaman. I dont think ive been more miserable playing shaman and i rather not play than struggle with the only class i play full time in the game. As a side note, if shamans got a least 10% of the attention druids have received every patch, we wouldn't even be in this state.
Really hoping they change up resto shaman. The tier set is sooooooo lame lol even though resto shaman is the bottom barrel healer in terms of HPS right now in 10.1, i much rather this playstyle than their half baked boring playstyle they're forcing us to play in 10.2.
We've been complaining about the talent tree and the sheer number of talents we've to spent in the first tier for a long time and yet there has been no change till date. I doubt they even care about shamans since neither of those stupid developers play that class. The playstyle is pathetic in 10.2 and I would not be playing rshaman at all. The best I enjoyed rshaman was Shadowlands last tier (Sepulcher)
Have played this specc all of shadowlands and now df and this "new build" is not really new at all this is more like shadowlands resto shaman litterly same specc but there's a twist to it you want to maximize you're spread of riptides. How do you deal whit havy raid aoe litterly the same way you did it in shadowlands you ramp you're cloud burst. Sure you won't be doing same raid dps that you could do whit a brain dead chain heal build but it's still gonna be fine cuse you 100% want to go for critt haste vers and litterly avoid all possible mastery stats. The only thing i don't like is them gutting ascendens and ancestrial guidens litterly the only cds we had that actually had any impact sure link is still good but our HTT has been shit for atleast 4 years so it just feels bad. The cloud burst nerf seems reasonable cuse it was already a bit to strong. However you should still be able to cast chain heals now and then and why do they ignore downpoor at this point just delete it lol or have it share talent spott whit wellspring.
Also chain harvest needs to be added back in this spell was sooo much more fun to use then primordial wawe
I agree with Theun when he said Chain Harvest should be added back into the game. Keep up the good work.

@@stevenrussell8917completely agree, earth living wep should be baseline. Shamans can buff their own weapon, that's just the class.
As always super thoughtful comments and feedback for blizz, thanks for being a great advocate and leader for the rsham class community man. Cheers

great video, thx, I'm quite sad for my specc though

That "hunters have no raid buff" comment at the start aged well 😅

I like current Chain heal build, why are they trying to force people out of the most signature resto spell? Riptide was and still is so boring.
I think Chain Heal should be the raid build and Surge/PW/Riptide build should be the M+ build. You're way too polite. Ellesmere cries, whines and whinges like a beaten up the moment Holy Pal is not Meta spec.
Ancestral vigor and mana spring should just be our raid buff make them base line base line

Can't wait to be oom more often in m+. If i have to spam healing wave all day i'd rather play something else.
Is this still accurate or did they make any positive changes? Kinda makes me want to just go back to dps even though I like resto
