I admit, this was kind of a silly project but I was up for the challenge. Buckets are actually pretty challenging to make! Each of the staves is tapered and beveled so you have to get the cuts just right for everything to fit together perfectly. On top of that, I tried out bent lamination for the first time, I turned a handle for the bucket without a lathe, and I did the entire project without any metal fasteners. All in all, this definitely challenged my skills but ended up being the fanciest bucket you'll ever see! Check out the video and tell me what you think! If you'd like to challenge yourself, pick up the plans for the project over at my website.

Hey Drew, it's your neighbor. I didn't watch the video but I found this huge piece of wood in my back yard. It's kind of damaged and it looks like it was cut with a saw already, but I know you like to make things with wood, so it you want it let me know and I'll chuck it over the fence or something.

LOVE "blooper/reality" endings to your videos.. it's what actually make me feel better about my woodworking. I USE to say "this isn't how people on youtube do it"... then think I sucked... now i say.. "that woulda been in a blooper reel"...and realize i'm human. SO thanks for that.

ROY Underhill had a show on PBS years ago where he made a wooden water tray. He took very dry wood and flatten one end and one side and NAILED 4 sides and a bottom together to make a open box. before he put it together he took a 16p nail and put a groove around the bottom of the box and one end and then shaved it off. when he submerged the box the compressed wood from the grooves swelled up and formed a water tight box. (You would really need to find a video on it to get the correct process, as I can barely remember how he accomplished it!) I liked your bucket, and hope to do the same soon!
