I was gonna use the velcro I use to hold my effects pedals but once it adheres, it's VERY VERY diffiult to remove the velcro (and I don't want to put that on a new hardwood floor).... so that idea was out.... This looks great!!!! Always interesting and informative.. Thanks Scott!!

Perfectly timed!. I am just building a similar thing but multi-pedal. The idea is that the rubber part you put you feet over will be larger and attached to a thin piece of wood / laminate, so the pedals will be attached to that piece and the rubber will keep all the assembly for running (as, yes, even 2 or 3 pedals over thin wood can move away!). I have a Roland DP-10 pedal with a similar thing than you describe, but attached to the pedal and foldable. It is also great if you don't need more than one pedal

I always trust your recommendations, Scott. Honest and to the point ! I just bought a Roland DP-10 Pedal which has the rubber thing included !

That model is a good one and the design is really cool. We're surprised Roland doesn't really advertise how it works.

So funny you brought this up. Over the last couple days I’ve been chasing my foot pedal all over under my desk. Sick of it. I’m getting this mat

That’s a good gizmo, but your suggestion for a wider multi-pedal mat is a good one. Most workstations have 2 piano style pedals along with a volume or wah, and maybe a switch pedal. Add two or three effects stomp pedals and there’s a lot there you need to anchor. Having one wide mat with adjustable “bays” instead of a bunch of individual mats would be less fiddly and less likely to interfere somehow with each other.

My solution is a custom wooden board (just some plywood) that is sized to fit exactly between the legs of my keyboard Z-stands (you can add some blocks or metal brackets to have it sit on the stand leg part to avoid touch/damaging any floor).. then the pedals are industrial velcro'd to that board (I like to have a couple of expression pedals and sustains on a master keyboard).. easy to reposition.. just add more velcro positions..just put the fuzzy/soft side of the velcro on the board in case you play in your socks.. it won't catch.. Easy to transport too.. just pick up the board.. all the pedals stay on it (put the cables into a pouch you can also velcro or otherwise attach to the board).

There is a much cheaper, and even more portable alternative to buying these pedal mats.
One problem I've had with every keyboard stand I've owned or tried is nearly all of them seem to lack any real gripe on the tiers. I'm not sure what is so hard about providing better rubber material built-into the tiers. I've had my top keyboard hanging by it's wires many times at gigs. I own 6 two tier keyboard stands from a few major companies, and several single tier stands. It's an issue with all of them. All brands too.
I finally got the idea to wrap kitchen rubber dish mat material around the tiers, cut them to size and tape them on. Works awesome! What does it cost??? A buck or so at a dollar store for a large roll of it. Now....$1.25 at Dollar Tree. Choose your color, I like black what matches my keyboards and pedals.
So how does this work with pedals? I too have deal with pedal slide for years. After watching your video here, I laid down a sheet of this rubber dish mat under my pedals like a rug. Worked great! Problem solved. It takes up no space to bring to gigs or practice either. Place it in my laptop bag next to my laptop, or just roll it up and it's tiny. Less space taken than the pedal mats shown in this video, way cheaper, and much easier to go to a local store and buy too. I think any of us can afford a buck or so. You may want to try it on your keyboard stands too. You'll still have some of the roll left over after using it for both purposes.

This looks like a good idea, but the narrow 3" wide section for the pedal is a deal breaker for me. Most of my sustain pedals are Yamaha FC4A or FC3A, which are 3-1/2" wide. I also have a few Proline sustain pedals that are 3-1/8" wide. Seems like this pedal mat is designed for the narrow cheap junk pedals that are sold on Amazon; too bad. Making the pedal section of the mat wider would allow for the use of all sustain pedals and it wouldn't compromise functionality of the mat much; it's the lip on the back of the mat that's most important as pedals creep forward and away from your foot if not secured properly.
My music room has thin indoor-outdoor carpet (the stuff that's sold by the yard at Home Depot, etc.) over the house carpet and I use adhesive-backed velcro (the hook side) on my pedals, which sticks great to the indoor-outdoor carpet and the pedals don't move. As far as hard floor surfaces, the Yamaha pedals only have two small rubber pads on the bottom whereas the Proline has a rubber pad across the entire bottom of the pedal that seems like it would stick well on hard floors. The main reason I picked up a few Proline pedals is because they have a polarity switch, which the Yamaha pedals don't have. There are some synths/controllers, such as the Arturia Keystep Pro, that unfortunately don't have the option to internally switch the pedal polarity setting, either through the hardware or through related computer software. Sorry for the rambling pedal tangent.
Thanks for all of your great videos, Scott!

We feel you. One reason we designed this is because the other ones on the market didn't make sense at 35-40 so we made ours available for much cheaper. We try to keep the pricing on the low side when we can for all of our products :)

Mr. Scott Canard, you are a man w/ many, "hats"...... lol, I just heard you speak of this channel & I'm in need of a simple
solution, who better to ask? I need to create sounds & move them inside a downstairs wall space into the next story
up. I can't setup speaker in the upstairs at all so my thoughts are to cut the drywall to insert small powerful speakers
in order to get loud enough sound upstairs BUT w/o making all that racquet in the downstairs room? This is for this
Halloween gig & if I could wire it up & run it that way, I would know what to do but I'm limited here. I can use anything
in the downward areas but I must create & pipe the sounds UP & the wall space is my method. I also would like some
inexpensive keyboard device that I can connect to those speakers. This isn't a concert type application. My laptop &
a soundbar is what I have now..... I need to know what cheap keyboard & if I need any other "tuner/amp" to help me
along in this? I know it sounds crazy but I know nothing/nada....zero/zip nor zilch about this stuff & I must do it
hard wired. As far as musicians go, I played Sax in my college jazz lab many moons ago. Perhaps I can begin
playing a keyboard after this? I can't get over how much stuff you're doing Scott >> Why am I thinking you're a
Dr or something? I'm not asking what you do but it seems like I heard it? But now I'm all Subb'd Up here along
w/ the Canard Blvd channel. many thanks, peace & GB ALL

Scott - I purchased using your affiliate link. Disappointed that the sustain pedal mat does not fit Yamaha FC3 and FC4 pedals. I contacted Liquid Stands. I’m not sending back a $17 item. I’ll trim the back edges with a razor. If Yamaha pedal users are expecting this to fit, it will not without modification. Also recommended that Liquid Stands make a mat for the ubiquitous FC7 pedal.

Funny how the problem of running after one’s expression pedal on stage has been so universal for decades ! You would think a standard solution would have emerged in that timeframe !
This proposal by Liquid Stand is great without a doubt, I just feel a bit frustrated by how ugly it is … !

Or just get Roland DP-10 pedals that have the rubber flap built in.

    • @ScottsSynthStuff
      @ScottsSynthStuff  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

The problem with the DP-10 is that you have to pay the Roland Tax - it's almost triple the price of other pedals.
