When TATA bought JLR in 2008 for a billion dollars their turnover was 3billion with a loss of 700,000 . They seen massive improvements and sales were up to £26 BILLION with a profit of 2-3 billion, that's after investments of around 3billion per year. With Indian investment and British engineering they did fantastic and make great well built cars . They do have reliability problems with certain issues but they are built well and drive well . Yen Tao I am stating facts that China have done this for years and years, it protects their companies and industries but we have no such things. Tariffs aren’t the same as these protectionist policies, far different. They may be loosening it slightly now but every other German automaker for example would have had to enter a joint venture with a Chinese company. Trump is actually doing something about it, you clearly don’t understand how trade works as you think tariffs make you weak. No. It stops companies from utilising cheaper labour and exporting goods to the US instead of making it there. I’m not a yank so trump being in office doesn’t really matter too much for me but the UK could definitely do with these much needed protections, not necessarily against China but our industries are being taken away. Europe and other countries are taking away jobs and these industries, Eastern Europe is essentially a new form of China in terms of manufacturing, to some degrees one could assume that labour rates are cheaper here now that China has such a fast growing middle class.

I think you are being unfair to Jaguar, during the Ford period they got high scores on the JD Power reliability rankings and they were generally no worse then Mercedes or BMW. I haven't seen a JD Power ranking since Tata took over. The most modern cars simply aren't reliable, they depend on too many sensors and electronics to make them work reliably, the first two generations of Range Rovers were reliable and long lasting vehicles. I am also quite sure there is a shortage of mechanics experienced in working on Jaguars, Land Rovers and many other imports in the USA. Here in Europe I take my Dodge pickup to a mechanic who specialises in American vehicles (and his father did before him), when I have taken my truck to mechanics who didn't understand American vehicles they usually make mistakes or do something silly, I would be very careful which mechanic I took a Jaguar to in north America.

      Nice idea,Alejandro...
But let us ALL remember something here...
The Range Rover was a trailblazer...The FIRST in the world.
..................everything thereafter is merely a modification: A development of an original British Idea. They were cheap too: GBP about 2k, USD4k at that time.
Albeit with a V8 from Buick....In later years, a market sprung up to replace that with a slug-like performing diesel...... because petrol just went through the roof.
      At least in the UK.....
And let's get something straight: they were built better than later "Jeeps" with their self-tapping screws holding everything together!
But they needed a whole lot more development than they actually got before launch..... and, as the rest of the world jumped on the SUV bandwagon...they were always one step behind. Why? Investment. Simply. The lack of it.
Just never really happened for Range Rover.
Hindsight.... of course. But isn't most of life?

Sorry to say the Jaguar SUV you refer to is the Jaguar E-Pace and is made in Austria. Tata Motor is the G.E. of India and they will not go broke. However they will be able to sell electric cars in India. Tata just has to move production out of the U.K. This is the reason things are not going well. Tata is too committed to keep the brands "British", in today's world every other manufacturer is making cars in India. There is no reason these should be treated differently. Indians are buying them, I see them all over the place in India. And no they do not breakdown, they are complex but are dependable.

Idk why people hate range rovers
My dad owns a 2014 Sport Supercharged and it's been intact ever since he bought it
Rn it's at 65k miles and it's never gone to a garage for errors
I'd say it all depends on the driver.

Lol I saw this video coming. Got a used Jaguar XF 2009 and its not as bad as the newer ones, Horrible gas mileage, beautiful interior/exterior, Powerful engine and lots of Electrical Faults but nothing major. Still worth it for me though regardless I've always wanted to own one and just happens to be my first car. I honestly advise anyone looking to buy a Jag to buy one from 2009-2012 anything above those years will break down before your next oil change lol. You're better off leasing fellas. Thanks Scotty for the video. I'll keep on baby-ing my Jag for as long as I can.

Idk if u are american or not but lets face it
Even scotty already said whats the problem of americans. They are lazy, they dont do maintance, they dont change oil. They just put gas and drive. They dont even wash their cars regularly from what i have seen... thats why they all rotten lol
Most of the brands they say suck, i see those cars here in europe with 20 more years running like clocks
Some over 500k KM, some near 1 million... they all still here.
VW, Fiat, Audi, ford, jaguar, citroen, renault, jeep, alfa romeu, mini, Seat, peugeot
u see cars of all age and all milleages here in europe...
And i live in portugal, belive me, we are poor. We cant keep cars that are unreliable.

@@Deathfg Haha i'm Nigerian and that's so true. A lot of the people I see at Oil Change Shops, Mechanic Shops, pr Car Wash are mostly Immigrants with an European car. From my experience with the Jaguar I just recently bought and have been driving for over 2 months now at over 150,000, I can honestly say that it doesn't feel like a 10yr old car at all. Lucky for me the previous owners were Older men and older used it for long trips outta the city. Mechanically its great as i keep on doing interval servicing. Electrically, there are issue but nothing major like just sensors tripping off for no reason example TPMS and ABS, they still work but dealer wants to charge the world to replace the sensors. Doesn't mean the car should be thrown away tho lol

In 2006 the Triumph motorcycle factory caught fire. They were importing most of the motorcycle components from Thailand. After the fire Triumph decided that instead of re-building the factory in Britain they would re-build the factory in Thailand and import the whole motorcycle manufactured from there, and so they did. The last English built Triumph Bonneville was the 2006 model.
I see that Harley-Davidson is also getting some of there large capacity motorcycles made in Thailand as well. The Thailand made motorcycles seem to go well enough and are a quality product, but if you want an English made Triumph or a Harley that is made in America then Asia is where they are coming from. So far in 2019 Harley have closed down 2 of there manufacturing plants in the USA.
