thank you! 2hours of frustration with drill bit and a punch.. 5min. after made this tool. one day im gettin a bus, loading it with mechanics & we are going to drive around hunting down the engineers who designed vehicles and whoop their asses!
Yea we had trouble holding them still with a drill bit, such a pain. Glad this helped you and I'm down to get in the bus, we'll stop at GM headquarters first!! 😂😂😂
I made your tool, I had to fumble (kept sliding out and dropping it) around with it like you did in the video and could not make it work because there wasn't a solid connection between the tool and the sprocket. Then I drilled holes in the ramp on the hook side the same size/spacing as the sprocket teeth. The teeth of the sprocket LOCK onto the ramp and doesn't try to slide off, and the hook grabs the top tooth for a secure fit. With the drilled holes you just put it up in there and it locks into place and it worked excellent in removing the sprockets. Excellent tool, just needed refinement
Awesome! Glad to hear you were able to modify it to work! And thatnks for sharing so others can also get different ideas to modify the tool to work for them.
We have two (2) cars with this engine. An 08 Saturn Vue, and 12 Equinox. The Saturn has 351,000 miles and had no major issues. Just recently the head gasket blew.... but was an easy repair. The Equinox has 190,000 with just basic maintenance only.
@@crabcake43011 Same lol we were bending the drill bits that we were using and it was a pain to hold them with your hands so my dad came up with this solution. Thats awesome that it helped you out!!! Thanks for the kind words!!

Can you please share a photo of the tool that you made.

Hal-a Lou -ya!!!! I've been looking for a fix to this problem for days thank you ,thank you!
You're welcome!! 😊😊
That looks way better but using a bent alan or hex key can also work while keeping your hands away.
I ended up bending a cheap torx t20 screwdriver in a right angle. But I like your idea , only need one hand
good easy design and works perfect
Sweet tip. Been pulling my hair out trying to use a 5/32 drill bit to try to break the sprocket bolts free. Just ain’t going to happen.
Thanks again, worked like a charm.

Really Really helpful tip 👏
Hey man great video.
Thank you!
What’s the size of the rod ?
Thank you chingones 😊
I have tried everything and can't loosen these damn things.
Yea they are a pain. Pain to loosen and pain to tighten with the allen/drill bit/punch method. Have you tried making a rod like in the video?
homemade tools are the best
are the bolts right or left hand thread?
Right hand thread
Lol pure fack
