- Owia residents who left their homes for the emergency shelter during the passage of Hurricane Beryl across St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Monday, July 1, 2024, found themselves exposed as the storm ripped the roof off the school.
Oh my God. Help these people Lord Jesus.

If the structure does not have a concrete roof, it should not be an emergency shelter
Why is it that in all these carribean islands prone to hurricanes every year they are still building roofs with tiles or aluminum instead of solid concrete.??? Every year these hurricane do great amount of damages. Even in Florida they still make wooden roofs with shingles I went through andrew there in august 92 and all the houses around mine where blown away. Mine resisted because of concrete heavy tiles. There should be mandatory laws of construction in prone hurricane places. I feel so sorry for all these people loosing their homes.
Galvanize is used. But the glass doors can. Be cracked also. No escape

Folks stop building concrete structures with tin roofs. For the love of god, strong structure with toilet paper for a roof.
