  • In this video I will be going into Tesla Service Mode and running the HV battery health test. I did this in October 2022 and got a result of 93%. After a year and 25K miles (41K km) I got the same result of 93%. When I got my car it estimated 576 km and now says 551 km, a loss of 25km or 15 miles. Not bad after 2 full years. Scan my Tesla states my nominal full is 75.4 kWh after 141 cycles.

    Thanks for the Video. My wifes 12/21 Model 3LR has 58k km now and we drove quite often to near 0% and charged up to 100%. We also drove to Arcic Circle in Winter at -19°C and did sometimes top speed driving on the Autobahn so maybe this Test would be interesting for us. Have a good start of 2024. Greetings from Germany. ✌

    Thanks for the walkthrough! Going to try this myself and see what we get.

      Good luck! If it appears nothing is happening, just leave for a couple hours. Mine was silent for a couple hours and went to sleep, then it started charging. good luck and let us know how it goes.

    Thanks Dennis, this always great to see how your batteries are doing. Our 22 Model 3 wipers are sweeping to far to the left and almost hitting the A pillar. Does service mode had a setting for this?

    • @BCTeslaGuy
      @BCTeslaGuy  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      not that I'm aware of. There is a wiper changing mode but that doesn't change the distance it travels. I'd submit a support ticket. thanks for watching.

    I'm at 56000km on my 2022 3LR and my reported range is currently 555km with a nominal full pack of 75.9. I monitor Scan My Tesla pretty much daily and these numbers vary up and down. In November the nominal full pack had dropped to 74.1. In October it was as high as 77.0.
    I charge it to 50-70% generally for daily use, but drive 285km one way 4 times a month. For these trips I charge it to 80% in the summer. In the winter I bump that up to 95% before I leave and usually depart between 90-95%. I need to do this as winter where I live often means snow on the roads and or -20C or colder. Currently there's one 50kW charger 70km from my destination that I use if required.

    Hi. How do you charge your battery? I charge mine always to 90%. Only for a long trip to 100%. And I start with 45-50%. Is that alright?

    • @BCTeslaGuy
      @BCTeslaGuy  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      for the first year I set it to 90% and always had it plugged in when at home. The second year I switched to trying to keep it near 50% when not using it for a while. Now that I drive 60 miles a day for work, I charge to 70% and end my day with about 40-45% and then plug in at home to be ready for the next day at 70%. I rarely charge to 100%, maybe 1 or twice a year. I don't see any benefit on charging to 100% on trips. For trips I charge to 90% for the first day of travel and then set it to 80% and try to keep it between 20-80%. I have driven my car down to below 0% for a test but mostly don't go below 20%. I normally stop every 1.5-2hrs so I do 10-15 minute charging sessions. I'd recommend you follow Tesla's latest recommendation and set your daily limit to 80%. I don't believe 90% will damage your battery but it may cause more degradation over many years. Really depends on if you plan on keeping your car for a long time. I charged my first Telsa M3 SR+ to 90% all the time like I did for the first year of this car. thanks for watching.

      Hi. Best practice is to keep your battery as close to 50% most of the time. Best practice would be 30-70% , second best is 20-80%. But if you have charging at home charge it every day. The best is to charge for as little precentage in one session.

    LiO batteries loose about 5% in the first 10k miles then plateau to a slow decline for the next 200-500k miles to maybe 70-80% according to published tesla statistics of 1000's cars
    Yours sounds normal, maybe a fraction low .

    Why do you insist the 93% number doesn’t mean anything? It’s the number Tesla uses for warranty claims isn’t it? We then assume it’s capacity compared to new right?

    • @BCTeslaGuy
      @BCTeslaGuy  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes, it means something to Tesla for warranty issues. But what does 93% say to me about my battery. It's the same as it was last year when I ran the test but scan my tesla shows I've lost 0.7 kWh of nominal full. Either way, I'm glad its the same as last year and for sure will run it again next year.
