Join John as he discusses music, musical history, gear and all things guitars and guitar playing with some of the most influential artists in the world including; Brad Paisley, Peter Frampton, Joe Bonamassa, Ricky Skaggs, Tommy Emanuel, Sam Bush, and others. This is not a how-to but rather a deep dive into the influences of the artist and what created their unique sounds from guitar types to favorite amps.
John Jorgenson born July 6, 1956, in Madison, Wisconsin, is perhaps best known for his guitar work with bands such as the Desert Rose Band and The Hellecasters. Jorgenson is also proficient in the mandolin, mandocello, Dobro, pedal steel, piano, upright bass, clarinet, bassoon, and saxophone. John Jorgenson, known for his blistering guitar and mandolin licks and mastery of a broad musical palette, has earned a reputation as a world-class musician, as evidenced by his collaborations with Earl Scruggs, Bonnie Raitt, Elton John, Luciano Pavarotti, Bob Dylan, and many others.

My 2 favorite guitarist's! Wow if you can find "Gifts from the Flood" It is my number one instrumental " electric genre" guitar CD of all time! My other equal (other category or genre acoustic.....) favorite is " an Acoustic Evening at the Vienna Opera house!
John you are too humble. You are a very important guitarist today. So diverse educated musical and a tone master. Truly a hero to many of us. You set the bar for the Joe's out there and he recognizes that.
That's one of the best sounding Les Pauls I've ever heard.. he's getting lot's of different tones outta that thing !
Some of those licks on the recording were vintage Les Paul. These guys are just carrying so much incredible music around with them. Awesome. Thanks guys

I was actually surprised years back at the humility and bare bone basic personality of Steve Vai listening to him talk in a dvd once. It seemed like you were just talking to somebody's uncle and you'd have no idea that he was an incredible guitar player.
@garylocke1 - Yep. Having met John numerous times, I can attest that he is a true gentleman, eminently approachable... just a superb human being. I will not make the mistake of saying he is "underrated". His name might not be a household work among the masses, but everyone who is serious about guitar knows who he is, and holds his musicianship in the highest esteem. He's a musical hero, and he deserves to be.

JJ, Man, another great guitar player who played sax. Among cats like Robben Ford and Rory Gallagher (and Matt B, local player, sax first).
I took sax in grade school band for three years, late '60s. Any squeaks were probably me.
I just wanted to play guitar.....never got very good at that, either :)

I have to ask,. Is there a slight 1” or so dent in the front of the ‘65 JTM45 at the beginning of the clip? It would be on the right side of the face around and above the input jacks? If so, I have a story of how it got there.
If that is my old amp it got pelted with PVC from a pyrotechnic piece that blew up. A couple of folks had to get checked out at the hospital and most of the band got smacked but not injured. I bought the one I’m referencing back in ‘80-81 when I was in LA. I have never seen another one like it that had block letters and white knobs.

Which was just released on April 10 via Provogue/J&R Adventures. Honors guitar great Danny Gatton, one of Bonamassa’s most influential mentors, and features instrumental versions of some of his favorites from Gatton, Frank Sinatra, Tony Joe White, King Curtis and more.

How can it be possible that Joe doesn’t have a Grammy? What a joke.
Joe is trying to play Hank Garland's song "Move" at the early part of this.
Joe is a great player but not Hank Garland who backed the likes of Elvis Presley and Patsy Cline to name a few.

What you're saying is completely irrelevant because that's what music is. Fantastic British blues came from them copying the Chicago blues, the Chicago blues came from them copying the delta blues. They all copied and added stuff and so does Joe. He's massively influenced by Eric Johnson which adds something new to the blues he's playing

DJ Merck I don’t brown nose anyone, I just call out assholes who hid behind a 👨🏼💻✔️ I have no benefit in telling my experience while meeting Joe. It’s common that many players hate on Joe, because he plays his ass off. Says a lot about the jokes that claim to be players with no videos and seem to know everything.
There’s always a smug little smirk peeking out from underneath Joe Bonamassa’s ‘I’m humble’ disguise. He always talks about himself as if it was a fan talking about him. It’s obnoxious and creepy. He’s always a little too pleased with himself.
And he’s definitely gone too far when he has the band open for him and struts out like he was Sinatra or Elvis in Las Vegas. A bit of (genuine) humility goes a long way, Joe. It’s pretty vomity when someone obviously thinks too much of themself
John Buell Hey pal, Jonny Lang had the band start and he came out after they were rocking.... It was his first tour when he was 16. Sinatra? Arrogant? Nah, it’s a rock and roll show, brother. Relax and please don’t go to live shows, ever. You’d be the asshole who ruins it for everyone
