    This is concise enough for me to start trying to design my own ship. I've watched a few of the other hour long tutorials, while they are informative, they are too long for me to scroll through when I don't remember exactly what I need.

    Please make a 5 minute tutorial on the builder interface and hotkeys. For example - how did you copy paste the small thruster block so easily? Does the piping have to hit the flight computer system in order or can it just be piped together however you can route the pipe? What is the hotkey to open "U" in the build mode interface to check that all the systems are communicating correctly? Also if you can slow down when naming fields, use a magnifying window or test overlay, and maybe toss in a one sentence explanation as to why you're naming them what you are naming them - it will help make sense of the parts functionality, how they are communicating with the nav computer, and dummy proof it so we name them correctly.
    Thank you so much for this tutorial. VERY HELPFUL.

    I wish I'd found this video before I spent 4 hours trying to get my ship frame green based on what another player I invited to a group SSC session said. He just told me I needed to add bolts and beams until it was green, never mentioned that it required a properly attached thruster of some kind for that to be possible.
    Something you forgot to mention is that the control seat doesn't need to be connected to the network for it to control the ship,. In the case of your ship it did because that allows the control table you attached to it to communicate through the network, but the only requirement for a pilot seat is that any controls you wish to influence while sitting in that seat have to be within 2m of the seat.

  • @GokouZWAR
    @GokouZWAR 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How to use the SSC. Controls tips and tricks would be helpful. What you need to build and make ships work is great but I don’t even know how to put the parts into the builder and how to move them around in the first place so this is more of a “step 2” video in my book. This is def good in the short and sweet category tho. These are good!

    Cooling cells are less efficient than radiators. Rads never need to be replaced unless damaged and they don't require you to constantly swap out cells. Cells are alright for a backup, but radiators are absolutely amazing in comparison. There might be some sort of weight/efficiency perk, but overall those things are going to be a pain and potentially strand you with no working radiators, especially at scale with larger ships, fuel rods are bad enough.

    Im gonna be getting into this game like next week or the week after,my friends are drafting me as their builder as I have experience with space engineers,any recommendations on how to build an all round general utility ship? also how different is this to space engineers if you have played it?

    • @TatakaiEX
      @TatakaiEX  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      SE was my main game for years, and I started playing it less and less once SB was announced lol
      Main difference between the two; ships in SB are MUCH slower, and there's no such thing as too much forward thrust. Coding is much simpler (and easier IMO). As far as building an all-around utility ship; just like SE ships that are great at one thing are typically better than a ship that does multiple things okay-ish. Because the SB experience is much harder (higher resources required just to run the ship) you need to be mindful of your use of space and weight. Also the game lacks content currently, so beyond hauling/mining and pvp, there isn't much else to do/build for.

    I have probably the easiest question, I haven't got a clue on how to build, but this is a sneak peek of sorts for me.
    How do you change your fuel cells? Whenever I try putting another one in (Just by carrying it over with E) it manages to get in, but it soon will bug out and sink through the bottom of my ship, I just started, so I only have the beginner tutorial ship with a couple of crates added onto it, but how do I change the fuel cell and keep it in place?

    • @TatakaiEX
      @TatakaiEX  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Normally; you unbolt the fuel rod, remove it, put the new one in, bolt it, done. You can press C to toggle snapping on/off (you'll want it on for putting the new one in). It could be bug-related issue, I have a friend who had a ship he could not replace the fuel rods on because the fuel chambers just wouldnt take new rods no matter what.

      @putch7169 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TatakaiEX Is there any reason why I was able to just put another fuel cell in just recently without snapping? (I just carried the cell over and stuck it in the power and it seems to be staying in place after flying around for a bit)

    Can you split two ships off of one after constructing them in ship designer (by only having one transponder)? Can you combine two ships after they are constructed?

      Yes, and yes*.
      First case: Both "ships" are still one "ship" as far as SB is concerned. I haven't tested this, but I would expect if one half is out in the belt, and the other is at the station and get's de-spawned, both halves despawn. The question is... where does that other half go when the ship is re-spawned? LOL
      Second case; You can, but you need to be mindful of your limits (bolts, cables/pipes, etc) and if the ship ever exceeds those limits, it will cease to function (it won't fly/move on it's own). If you were to have two transponders, I would expect only one of them to work. T his would be easy to test, just add another transponder to a ship that already has one.

    how many thrusters should you use per generator? How do you know if you have too many / too few generators?

      Use the starbase wiki! You can find stats for these items, how much power thrusters need vs how much power generators output. From there it's just some simple calculations.
