Great to see you all back! The further north you go the stronger the sun becomes so don’t forget to apply suncream…often… Its extremely easy to get sunburnt by the north Qld sun especially during summer.

Box Head, The Entrance, Tuggerah Lake, Crack Neck lookout at Bateau Bay, Pearl Beach, and the city of Newcastle and surrounding areas, Lake Macquarie and Nelson Bay. Hit me up for any Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast sites if you head up that way again. Love from Mount Glorious QLD.

Hope you have a great fun and safe trip in my beautiful country! I travelled around Australia MANY years ago with a mate in a Suzuki Sierra! Worst 4WD ever haha! Slept in a crappy 2-man tent. In the middle of Australia, it overheated if we went over 70 kph so we had plenty of time to take in the view! In 99 I travelled all around Europe, just a backpack. You just sort out issues as you go, nothing's a hassle when you're on holidays. They didn't have the Euro yet, so we'd have to exchange money all the time, figure out different cultures and ways of doing things. At least in Australia you don't have those problems. You just adapt and have fun. You look like you've got great kids, well-behaved. Enjoy, and welcome!

I really like the US I really do but I love my country Australia more
I have traveled to the USA many times
Living here and having a family is satisfying
The US has more opportunities and more money but “less is more “
One thing is that we are community based
If you find a community and some mates you will want for nothing
Money individualism and working for the man is not part of Aussie culture
The sun nature Medicare good schools and reasonable politics are what matters

You might find Bribie a bit of a let-down - it's nicest if you have a 4WD and go up the beach a bit. It's pretty quiet but still pretty. On your way up to the Daintree, I hope you spend some time at one of the nicest places in Qld - The Whitsundays. Sometimes you can get a deal and rent a whole house for about the same price as the hotels on Hamilton Island. As the whole island is owned by the same company, even renting a house you get the use of a golf buggy to get around, and are allowed to use the hotel pools - and kids eat for free. You must then take a trip to Whitehaven Beach - but take shade with you! Another way to see them is to do a bareboat charther - I've done this 3 times now - and you can take the boat wherever you want. Good luck!

Where the surf disappears heading north is around the point where more water based dangers start. Crocs, irukandji and sea wasps (box) jellyfish, besides the normal stuff. Please be aware, do your own due diligence and best of all ask the locals. Great to see you guys back.
The Bruce Highway heading north has problem areas where fatigue and impatience can be deadly. Dad, got to have your breaks from driving. There is Mum and rest areas and service stations to stretch your legs and gather. Don't drive fatigued EVER. You and your family are too precious as are all others on the road. Don't rush. For some reason our inverter didnt have a cigarette lighter connector but the third battery for the van is back by the living area so not too bad.

Just remember, from Bundaberg north , there are crocodiles in both the rivers and on the beaches. Be careful, especially the children.

Before they were about to leave for there first free camp spot, looked like they were are Beenleigh Markets, The only free camping spot around that area is Hugh Muntz Park which around 3 to 4 years ago would have been a safe enjoyable spot to stay a night, unfortunately now it has become a haven for the homeless and now resembles more like a refugee camp due to the housing crisis and lack of public funded housing. Unfortunate for the Wickhams to stumble onto this location so early into their trip back here. But behind most glitter strips is always an underbelly.

Do they still let off a canon in the afternoon at Bribie Island to frighten off the squawking wildlife? There was no warning for us just a couple of BOOMs. We had no idea what it was about until it was explained to us. The birds came back anyway!

🤗You have to say BRY-BEE ISLAND.💋That’s how we say it.👍Our family had a holiday house💋there when you could only 🙏get there by barge.💕Once the bridge was built,👍it was a lot easier to get to.🫶The SURF CLUB has fantastic lunches.💕Fish and Chips 🍟 at the Jetty is another great option.👍Once you get over the bridge 👍and turn right all 🙏the beaches are kid friendly.💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋

We struggle with a lot of the names lol but thank you! We will work on it and that’s really cool. So many of Australia’s towns have such cool history behind it. Coming in by barge is really cool!
