It is sad that money, or lack of funding, has meant such partial closures of one side of double locks. Still, great progress is being made opening up new stretches of route and linking canals. Love your channel so much me and my friends rented our first narrowboat last week and did Bunbury to Llangollen and back. Fun but very tiring trip for newbies. We were surprised by the amount of overgrowness everywhere. Oh, and got absolutely soaked the first day, but then it brightened up. It is not nice being wet on a narrowboat :P
Ha! Just realised we are parked behind you (Saul Gooodman) - Have a great time as you head up the Macc’ - Poynton has great moorings, just before Braidbar Boats. Good car parking nearby and fantastic access to Lyme House Estate and wonderful hills to climb. Have a fantastic ‘Summer’ 👍 N&A N&A

I heard you say there wasn’t many moorings on that stretch I can recommend Rode Heath there are some nice walks south of the village towards Scholar Green The pub is decent considering it’s part of the Marstons chain
What a dreadful state the towpath was in. I think that towpaths and their upkeep are so important. They provide a safe passage for dog walkers, runners, cyclists, people in wheelchairs or with buggies, not to mention boaters! They enable individuals and families to get out into nature, breath some clean air and to encourage a healthier lifestyle. Come on CRT get them sorted.
I think CRT have had a lot of issues with contractors, we hope to see some improvements soon, lack of funding also plays a big part. Thanks for watching ☺️
I noticed on your boat tour video that you have a Barras shire engine. Is that an ok engine? We too are having our boat built by Aintree and there is a huge hold up with regards to Beta marine engines. We have been offered a Barras but are not really too keen as we weren’t aware of anyone else with one.
That’s why we also ended up with Barrus Shire due to Beta hold ups 🤔. We’ve had no problem with ours and I’m sure at the time we got our boat Barrus was the more expensive engine by some way, that might not always be an indication of quality obviously. There are quite a few boats with Barrus Shire it’s definitely one of the most common along with Beta. Hope that helps. 👍🏻
I have questions about automobiles. If I'm not mistaken, you ferry your car to a spot near where you moor. Is that common among continuous cruisers? Is there a specific purpose? What I've imagined is that it simplifies things when you moor far from services that you need. Is it easy to find safe places to leave a vehicle for one or two days? Thanks!
Hey! Yes we travel with a car. Not difficult as I run it back and forward or Rob can cycle. We use it for visiting family and friends,and shopping. And anything else you would use a car for!!! It’s never an issue ☺️
