      Thanks Simon 😊 yeah the volcanoes hike was definitely our favourite 😍 but we enjoyed how wild and off the beaten path the second hike was...didn't see another tourist the whole way round (+ the pine cones!) 😊

    Well made video and informative. I honestly could sit there all day watching that volcano belching out that gas all day. We go Mexico next year but the Yucatan peninsula do looking do places like chichen itza etc

    Breathtaking views! I kinda miss your awesome drone shots, they would have been incredible there!

    • @KittiandJon

      They were amazing! Yes we miss them too...we decided early on in Mexico that we weren't going to use our drone there because of some information we had read that foreigners aren't legally allowed to fly in the country. However, I think we took it a bit too seriously as we have watched many videos on TH-cam from Mexico where people have flown their drones with no issues! Now stuck with using whatever average quality free stock footage I can find online! But the drone will be making a comeback once we move on from Mexico to our next country! :)

    We really enjoyed this video! Our last hike was Mount Fitz Roy in Argentina and boy that was a tough hike! This one seemed pretty easy! loved that you guys had this entire place to yourselves!
    Awesome hike!

      Thanks guys! Very jealous of your hike in Argentina...we would have loved the chance to visit Patagonia on this trip but alas it wasn't to be! We will have to come back 😊 it was a beautiful and peaceful place and all downhill...perfect 👍

    great video! couple questions for you:
    1.) How long was the ride to itzo popo?
    2.) How long did the hike take?
    3.) How difficult of a hike was it?
    4.) Is the total trip- to get there, hike, and back to CDMX enough for a full day trip? or less?

      Thank you! 😊 in answer to your questions:
      1. Probably about 1:30-2hours on the bus to Amecameca from Mexico City but you also have to get to the bus station first and then it’s about a 40min taxi ride to the trail head from Amecameca. We got a bus from Mexico City at 7am and started hiking around 10am.
      2. Around 3-4 hours depending on your speed
      3. Quite difficult heading up to the viewpoint we went to due to the altitude and the terrain being slippy. Pretty easy on the way down as it’s a nice trail all the way.
      4. You will need a full day to do this trip for sure if you’re taking public transport.

    Informative video! I went to Desierto de los Leones last year but didn't have a map, so I mostly hiked the paths around the monastery area (I couldn't enter the monastery itself because I'd brought my dog). Was your walk from the bus stop to the monastery along the road, or is there a trail? Was it hard to follow the map with the trails not being marked?

    • @KittiandJon
      @KittiandJon  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Trish! We initially had to walk along a dirt road for maybe 1 km before the road ended and the trail began. We felt fine walking along the road and the trail is easy to find at the end of it. It definitely can be confusing...we had an offline All Trails map on our phones and even with that we were stopping and confirming we were on the right path a lot. The most difficult part was the area leading away from the monastery as there are many criss-crossing paths, some are blocked off as well, but overall if you plan ahead and have an offline map with you you should be able to navigate okay :)

    Hello guys great video! I was wondering when did you do this hike? I saw some other videos that a reservation was needed to hike die to COVID. Also how much was the taxi from the bus point to 4000 meters?

    • @KittiandJon
      @KittiandJon  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey James 👋 thanks for watching! We did the hike at the end of December 2021 and didn't need a reservation. We just had to fill in a form with our details and intended walking route at Paso de Cortes before we entered the park and pay the entry fee and we were all good 👍 the taxi to 4000m cost 400 pesos (roughly $20) and back from Paso de Cortes to the bus station cost about 300 pesos.

    Did you guys did the hiking yourself or with a guide?

    • @KittiandJon
      @KittiandJon  ปีที่แล้ว

      Just by ourselves 😊 it's super easy to do by yourself...the only difficult bit is getting there if you don't have a car. Otherwise the trail is very straightforward 👍
