Simple advice from someone in his 50's. You are NOT what you do; not your job; not your hobbies. Don't let your identity get caught up in those. Those are simply things you do. Worry and work at who you are on the inside, your thoughts, insecurities, prides, etc. The places your mind goes when you are quiet are where you learn the most about yourself. Pay attention to that. Build up what you like. Work on changing what you don't. Your young body will become old but who you are inside will always be there.

@@GPMD606 I disagree but you are absolutely free to think that. I do believe that what you do matters. I do believe that what you do reflects aspects of who you are. What you do can even influence who you are, so choose wisely what you do. But you existed before you started doing a thing, you will exist after you stop doing a thing and you can decide to do something else. You are not what you do.

Props to The North Face for sponsoring the climb. I've been using their gear since the early 1980's and it's saved my bacon in a lot of extreme conditions over the years. Good stuff.

I bought a pair of those North Face slippers for men based on Eva's recommendation in this video. I'm glad I did. They are super comfy and warm. I almost forget I'm wearing them. I have chemo induced peripheral neuropathy as the result of a nearly a year of battling cancer. The neuropathy causes a severe sensitivity to cold resulting in tingling and numbness in my fingers and feet. I have tile floors in much of my house...so I was really needing some good slippers to insulate me from the cold tile and thus the neuropathy that comes with it. I had tried some other slippers but they were bulky and I had a hard time keeping them from falling off. These North Face slippers are great. So glad that Eva recommended them.

OMG 😱! You have reminded me of when I climbed Mt. Shasta. I was 19 and was a summer intern timber cruiser working for the Mt. Shasta Ranger District, living in a US Forest Service cabin in the mountains west of the city of Mt. Shasta. On a weekend I drove to the parking lot at the base of Mt. Shasta’s peak. There were a couple of pretty girls lugging skies on the side of the road trying to hitch a ride on the road up but I didn’t stop because their skies would have scratched up the inside of my Camaro 😅! The drive took longer to get there than I expected, the sun was already just starting to set. I had NO IDEA 🤷🏻‍♂️what I was doing! I did have a puffer North Face down jacket I had for years that was very warm and I had a warm hat, I also wore some leather work gloves they were all I had. I looked at the trail signs that pointed to a trail that wondered off somewhere and looked up at the ridge that headed straight up almost to the peak so I went that way! That worked for the first couple hours of climbing, luckily Mt. Shasta is so much higher than all surrounding mountains the sun stayed up longer than usual at those hights, but then it started looking dangerous! I couldn’t see the peak so I wandered off into the East face that was a MASSIVE bolder field, the going through the boulders was difficult but it was a clear route to the top. It was arduous 😥 and boring because it took forever, I just kept going. My hands were very cold as the gloves had long since soaked through. Finally I wondered up to the top, it was 12:30 AM, there were various groups of young hikers at the top who had all sorts of equipment they were all pretty cranky they said it was a lot colder than expected. One guy was with a group that had set up camp in a secluded space in the boulders at the top and he was very visibly shivering freezing to death ☠️ warming his hands next to a tiny hiking stove. I was in a GOOD MOOD 😄 SMILING walking around talking to people. My hands were WARM I felt GOOD, a little lightheaded, I had the early stages of hypothermia and I knew it! I saw everything there was to see at the top and walked directly west over the snow, probably over the glacier at the top, and headed down the steep side covered with snow. I was taking huge many foot leaps through the snow down the face because it was steep so I could move a little faster that way. It seemed like it took forever but I finally got to the bottom and started looking for the parking lot, it was about 5:00 AM. I had not anticipated how difficult it would be to find my car, there were no lights in the area and it was pitch black! It took about 30 minutes to find my car, but I did, and drove back to the cabin. I rested up and I was fine, no frostbite everything fine. 😅

A few years a go I suffered what I thought was an anxiety attack. I was struggling with everything, I was feeling claustrophobic. even in large places like really big super markets if I couldn't see the door to the outside. I saw a councillor called Agnes , who advised me to read a book Called "Feel the Fear and do it anyway" written by Susan Jeffers. This helped with the massive adrenaline surges of fear. Anybody feeling worried and anxious should give it a read, it makes so much sense . My councillor Agnes was marvellous , talking to her and getting all my problems out in the open with her. She explained we all put our problems in a box not dealing with them. Pull yourself together , get on with it, we use all these excuses not to face a problem and deal with it. Then finally they come over the top and you just can't cope with them all. Every body gets scared but its how you face that fear that matters.

Very nicely captured and presented, as always! This really brings up many memories for me. I climbed Orizaba around 1985, and was asked to lead the climb, as our guide wasn't feeling well that day. It was about 5F and very windy. I ended up with frost-bitten feet and high-altitude pulmonary edema on the summit, and wondered if I'd lose my toes or be able to descend, but got my strength back quickly on the way down. Piedra Grande hut was infested with rats at that time, scurrying over our sleeping bags at night. I still have those old leather boots, strap-on crampons, and wooden ice axe hanging on my wall as art now :) Here's to many more adventures for both of us. Stay safe and make these lifelong memories!

In 1991 I did a similar climb up the volcano just south of Mexico City. It was 18000 ft. a little less than yours. Popocetipectal or something similar. I am strictly an armature going with a friend who climbs alot. One of the hardest things I've done. And proud of it. One step at a time. You go girl.

Popocatépetl, it's an active Vulcano (recently had a big blast) but that one is closed since around 2000's because people got injured climbing it (yes, because of a vulcanic explosion).

    Eva… Well Done & Congratulations 👌🇲🇽🏔️🏆
    Fears faced… & overcome 🙏
We, your fans are so very very proud of what you achieved here!
Your thoughts & feelings of the Wonderland Trail, must have weighted heavy on your mind, but that was no failure either, that was due to an unbeknown to You ‘illness’ at the time, the decision to do what you did, took more courage. Your body was screaming at you, a type of ‘self-preservation’ - that day, you took the right decision.
What this trip did, was restore, in your mind, what YOU are truly capable of…
Go & celebrate your success with your best mate… Vilk & grab yourself a fabulous lucky woof hug!
Take good care both of you & continue to both stay safe. 🙏🐶👩🏻

Eva. it had to be difficult in those higher elevations. I wouldn't have made it past the camp at over four thousand fee. Wow that Juan is a rock star, right? And so are YOU.
    You did great!
I'm not trying to be critical and judgmental, but I want to tell you about my landlords and three of their friends who are sixty to 80 years old. They spent their younger lifetimes running on a daily basis together. They ran to work, ran home a lot of the time, and many days, they'd all go out running together on summer evenings. Every one of them have severe back problems today.. So bad that my landlords can't stand for more than five or ten minutes at the time while making a meal. They have issues with stairs and even going to the bathroom. Both walk stooped over.
I used to run in my 20's and my ortho doctor asked me if i was a runner. He said "stop now before it's too late". He told me that 2-3 times a week was good for our heart, but beyond that, it's bad for our retirement years. He told me to opt for brisk walking the majority of the time, so I did. My back is pretty good for sixty-seven years old.
I hope you don't think I'm intrusive. I just don't want you to have to suffer like my friends do. Blessings sent. (thank you for a very cool channel!)
If I overstepped boundaries, please let me know. I don't like seeing people suffer. xo

You are an inspiration, Eva! I attempted to hike the Salkantay Trek this past summer and the elevation kicked my butt 😅 It was the most difficult and most painful challenge that I had ever took on. But because of you (you brave human, you), I'm going to continue doing these majestic and terrifying hikes.

It's probably higher than Everest thanks to the bulge around the equator.
In fact you should do Mt Chimborazo in Equador. Its summit is literally the highest point on earth.

Congratulations Eva! I'm a new fan. This is only the 2nd video of yours I've seen now. I clicked on this one because I summited this same mountain when I was in my late 20's (about to turn 50 now). I don't have many pictures at all from the trip and this was like getting to relive it:) Your camera and editing skills make for some amazing viewing. Thanks for this! PS. subscribed now and will watch many more of your vids! keep it up:)

Kudos to you, Eva. You are very well onto your way to adventure stardom! And congratulations on "snagging" The North Face as a sponsor. By all indications you could not have found a better sponsor. Truly an excellent outfitter! Congratulations! Your filming, narration, and editing are fabulous as well. Totally superb. Keep up the good work. But take time to relax as well.

Eva, I am so very impressed with your assent of the mountain. It is huge! I have flown around it in a helicopter and the enormous beauty is absolutely breathtaking. Speaking of breathtaking, the altitude is something to respect. As a pilot I am quite used to it but not everyone can do well in it. To be doing physically demanding work such as the climb is much harder than just being there.
    Bravo! Your Pal Al

I have warned "The North Face" ski jacket for over 20 years gray across the top of the shoulders down the sleeve, the rest red with, The North Face emblem on the front in gray on red beside the zipper of the left lapel pocket. It looks light but it's actually very warm even though the side pockets zippers have failed I still love this jacket and to this day wear it constantly, to some of my relatives Chagrin! You picked an excellent sponsor, or and excellent sponsor picked you!!!!! That was a pretty awesome achievement without any extra oxygen! I would be carrying at least two of those little hit cans with the built-in face mask.
