I did the same modifications to mine but left the valve in and drilled it out at the same time I did the gun body. That way, you know it's all lined up.
Thanks for the modification tip. By the way, you can make a depth gauge for the drill bit by putting a short piece of 1/4 inch fuel line over the bit to stop it from going too deep. Set you parts inside a cardboard box (on it's side) to reuse the soda . . .
Recycling soda doesn't really work for me. The new soda has a grit to it. When it is blasted it breaks down and turns to a powder. Reusing it just creates a lot of dust. But I do like your depth gauge idea. I have metal stop collars that use a set screw through the side wall to hold the collar in place. That means cranking the set screw down into the flutes of the drill bit. Yuk! Cheers.
When done, use rattle can clear lacquer spay to make/keep shiny (I restore scooters myself).
Don’t point it down!! That’s why you went through so much powder. Lift the object up to be level with you.
I just picked one up but haven't used it yet. What did you use it on before the mods? I'm planning on using it to strip a bicycle I'm restoring. I picked up the ground glass to try stripping the paint off. any info will be helpful. Thanks
What PSI are you running and how many CFM? I'm looking at a 22gal that says it can do 5.1CFM @ 90PSI. Gonna be cleaning bike cases too. Thanks!

The soda is "Armex" brand. I got this 50# bag from harbor freight

Not sure of the oxide brand or size. It was part of a second hand purchase I made a long time ago. You can try "black diamond" and see if that is effective.
