My favorite design is the 1984 set. 2023, having the headshot, makes me think of the 1984 set. I thought the 2024 had a really good design that updated the 1986 design... until I opened a pack. Once I saw the foil pinstriped in the neon lights, behind the player name, and circled around the player's position info, I liked it even more. The foil makes the neon look like it's actually glowing. There was much more to the design than the preview could show. The Stars of MLB insert design was greatly improved from last year, too. The 2024 design makes you feel like you're opening a higher tier product than flagship. Looking forward to this years Chrome release!
I agree with everything you said, and also, the home run challenge cards look a lot better. I, too, look forward to seeing this product in a chrome format!

the biggest reason people dont like it is the black border at the top because they fear not being able to speculate through grading... I personally think it is a pretty decent design.. Kind of reminds me of the 1987 fleer with the fade....
I think that’s a great comparison! Another one that’s interesting is 1986 topps. And I completely agree with you about the grading issues, which will actually make the set more valuable, because when Cards do gem up, they will be more rare.

I would love it if it was white around the whole border, but for me I just can't stand how easily black/coloured borders of cards show dings and imperfections. Still probably going to buy a hobby box or two eventually just because I just like ripping packs but not in love with this design like I was with 2023. Definitely better than 2020 and 2021 though.

I like the 2024, but Topps has got to slow the presses down. We are heading towards junk wax era 2, not good for us to crack a case, just no value. But I’ll be out looking for boxes on Feb 15th!
The card feels like an insert to me. I like some of it though. The two-tone borders are nice and remind me of 1987 Fleer. The fonts and placements of the Team and Player names are great and clear. Breakers will like the base. The Neon glow is a bit much though. It will stand out as a unique design, which may help it grow on people over time. I personally give it an 8/10. For reference, I gave 2023 design a 7/10 and the 2022 design a 9/10.
I like it more than the past few years. Im interested in what the parallels will look like. I do think topps chrome will look pretty sweet with this design.

I love it so far will have a better feel once we hold them but i can read them! They feel not crazy busy and def fun. 21' i hate too. Can't see the names!! And design in general not good. They're lucky there wasn't any huge RCs in that year. And for us heritage guys i think 24' will be REALLY fun! 🎉

I keep going back-and-forth on it myself. Seems like overall, it is quite popular, even though people were hating on it before it came out.

Topps has NOT HAD A DECENT DESIGN SINCE the 1970's!! 1972 was the best year! (most 60's designs were awesome also)
