Awesome video! Will definitely come in handy in the upcoming days once I get some free time to install these on the wife’s ride. Thanks!
Appreciate the love and hope the video is actually helpful😁
My boy ! Mucho love !!! 🫶🏿
Same to you brother! 😁
attaboy travis get that monetization brotha
Appreciate you brother ❤️
When i bought the same Mcgard wheel lug/lock kit I bought a 22mm socket with the plastic outer sleeve from amazon for around 10 bucks
Yes those are good to use to help from scratching the wheels I have a couple
Of those now 😁
I have 3, a half inch drive that stays in glove box with the key, another 1/2 that's in the tool box to remove them at home, and a 3/8 drive one to put them back on using a 3/8 drive Milwaukee low power impact so I don't over torque them.
H&Rs for me. Perfect balance. Just got 'em installed on a recent ST purchase.
H&rs are what I recommend to everyone, they have been the most consistent out of the box springs so far
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks Exactly HSFs ... same experience here & on our 4th ride since discovering them, and MB C450, 16 SHO, 17 Explorer Sport, the leadfoot wife in the Explorers, of course. Between ride height & spring rates, ideal balance in my book.
According to Steeda, the both F-R (especially the rear) were only brought down about an inch, as more would negatively affect towing? ... Or words to that effect. Eibachs around a 1/2" lower.
🤔 Then Lethal Performance goes 1.8-1.9 Front / 2.0-2.1 Rear? Don't tempt me. 😁
@mitchmiller145 something like that I got them as they were the lowest option at the time. I’ve been tempted to switch to Ebaichs
You like them better than Steeda? Great vid as usual man!
Liked and subscribed! Looks bad ass
Thank you very much for the love and support ❤️
What's your thoughts after having for a little bit now? Looking at potentially getting these over the HKS with the black friday sale.
I still love them. No complaints at all honestly
SUBSCRIBED!!!!!!!!!!! THANK U
Anytime! Thank you for the awesome support 😁
Looks great. I have steedas I haven’t put on yet - what are your thoughts on those?
I sold my Steeda to go to these I like them but I wanted more of a drop which was my biggest reason for going over to these
Did the ride Stiffened up, like overbumps and pot holes, does it hit harder?
Absolutely the ride is stiffer than stock, does it hit hard no, but I don't go and try to hit pot holes 🤣
Nice video!! Where did you jack up the explorer in the rear to get it on jack stands?
I am glad you liked it 😁 I jacked it up from the rear subframe 😁
How’s the ride quality with these lowering springs? Did you notice it being a little rougher on the bumps or highway?
It’s a little more harsh than stock but that’s to be expected when lowering it
Following up on this: What socket set did you purchase in-order to remove the top strut nut?
I got the pass through socket set from harbor freight, go look at my last upload. It’s a better faster way to do the lowering springs 😁
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks I looked at the HF set, and it does not have a 13/16" or 21mm socket in the set, but you mention that specific size in the video?
@IDMacd529 yes in the second video I mentioned it and that’s where I found the set at was HF
Any rubbing?
I’m about to install them on my car , wanted to see how they fit after driving around for a while
I've had no issues with mine at all, you can take a look at my Instagram
Houston_speed_freaks
I should haves some pictures and videos of the explorer on there
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks thank you bro !
Anytime man 😁
Would you recommend going with 22inch rims if looking to upgrade brakes? Or could you get by with the 21’s ? I guess another question are you looking to go with after market rims and if so what size and why?
Fitting brakes is rotor size and offset are the two major things you’ll look at. This is an older video of mine I’m already off the factory 21s and went down to a 20x10 with a +25 offset. I should still be able to fit a big brake kit. And I went to a 20 for weight savings and also it opens up tire options 😁
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks I thought you had a plus 30
@MrJgayles nah I messed up in the video I got them they are a +25 offset but the concavity of them helps them not poke 😁
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks 👍 I’m trying to find a fitnmment I like and that looks good. I reached out to an compnay over seas for some knock off kensei KNP 20” rims since kensei does not make anything bigger then 19 and I’m trying to send them dimensions on the rim lol I told them 20x10 +30 lol but should be ok since the rim type I’m going with doesn’t concave?
Wonder how it will be towing ? I have a small boat but don't want it to bottom out
There are people who still tow with lowering springs just fine 😁
Installed the front springs with the lettering upside-down per your instructions, but something doesn't seem right. Did you get that guidance directly from Lethal Performance's owners?
How does that not seem right, no but as someone who has installed dozens of after market springs, coilovers and bags it's what makes sense. If you put it the other way the spring wouldn't sit straight up and down it would be crooked and rub the shock.
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks not questioning your skill, just asking. I aligned the strut top cap as you did but it seemed to not settle correctly.
I got Matt looking into it, trying to see if some of the springs got the labels put on upside down. Send me a message on Facebook easier to reply and try and see what's going on
Yeah was questioning that also. Either way the spring will either sit uneven at the top or the bottom. But I feel under pressure it will flatten out. Hmm I’m curious to what you found out.
Check my other spring install video, I’ve installed 15 sets of springs to date now on explorers specifically. Every manufacturers spring I’ve installed the letters in the front have been upside down. I’ve had people put them on with the words right side up and have to take them off because it rubs the shock.
How's the ride feel? I was gonna go lethal or Eibach springs.
I suggest H&R they seem to be the most consistent among the springs I have zero issues with my lethal springs but I’ve heard others have had issues.
Did you need any adjustable arms to correct camber ?
No sir and if an alignment shops says you do go to a different shop
nice look i bought it too
You'll love them ❤️
i powered coating in red color but im in ny just waiting a few weeks for installation because of snow
i just installed uff nice handling like the oem spring
@@darmysdelrosario6066 hell yeah man glad you love them 😁
Is it just me or if you just seperate the upper control arm to the lower at the spindle on the rear would allow you to move the lower control arm down more?
So after doing 5/6 sets of lowering springs I’ve found the easiest way is to disconnect the sway bar end links. loosen the front subframe bolts but don’t take them completely out. Support the subframe with a jack, then remove the rear subframe bolts. Slowly lower it down the springs will pop out, then put the new springs in and jack it up. Put the bolts back in tighten the subframe up and connect the sway bar end links and you’re done. I can do springs front and rear now in easily 2/3 hours tops with no lift.
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks interesting because I did one set mine and I just did them the way I previously stated and it took about an hour to do both rears ?? No need to lower the subframe not sure why anyone would even go that route? Maybe it's because I'm a certified mechanic?
100% the easiest way is to pull the long through bolt through the hub ,remove upper shock bolts and lower sway bar end link and then pry lower control arm down and pull spring easy peasy ,and you did indeed install the front springs upside down the stock ones are offset a bit and my eibachs instructions say to install with logo up which places them in the same offset position .
Did you have it with spacers or without?
No sir no spacers I don’t like spacers
Was anything at all other than just springs done to correct the geometry.
Like swaybar end links, proper shocks etc etc.
I never ever just install springs alone as it screws the geometry of the suspension up and dramatically increases wear not to mention it doesn't provide 100% satisfaction.
Idk,maybe its just my ocd having to do everything right or not at all.
Definitely a new subscriber and enjoy your videos.
Best wishes.
I appreciate that man and no sir only thing done at this time was springs and we were able to get everying back within spec and no extra added wear on tires. Naturally lowering a car could wear other bushings and shocks but that’s to be a given.
Nice video!! I was reading on the Explorer ST forum that people are complaining the Lethal Performance springs squeak going over bumps and such. Just curious have you had any issues with yours since install?? Plan on getting these and installing them soon. Thnx
I haven't had any issues with squeaks or rattles I believe that ended up being a bad batch of springs.
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks Thnx bro. I figured it was either bad install or bad batch. This video will be very useful when installing my springs.
@@jasonboysen5231 I think it also does come down to install as well. Anytime I'm glad i could make a helpful video 😁
How does a bad batch lead to squeezing!? That’s not even a thing. That has to come down to installation.
I agree with you lol I was being nice and regurgitating what I heard lol
How can you tell what the front spring are and the rear?
The shape and length, I should have described how to tell but it’s an obvious difference when you got them side by side
Is there a difference in camber? How is wear and tear on your tires
I was able to get everything within oem spec no extra wear on the tires
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks did it take extra parts to do so?
I’m looking to put 22 rims +30 offset with 305/40r22 tires will they run with these springs
Yes sir you'll have no issues with that wheel setup and these springs 😁
I want 305 40 22 as well but was informed it rubs Slightly on fender well. Any info appreciated
Oh wheel is 22x10.5 +30. I like the toyos.
What kind of mud flaps did you get
They are oem from ford
Total install time? I just got mine in and debating doing it myself
First time around 6 hours roughly including breaks and running to the store for tools lol
Do you have downpipes on it yet? I ordered mine from cv fab and should be here soon.
I ordered mine but the order was cancelled I'll be getting some soon and doing an install on them as well
Ok awesome. I can't find anyone in town to put them on.
@@gabelongoria384 where are you located?
Splendora. Not too far from you. Been watching your videos.
@@gabelongoria384 oh yeah you're close! Look up hell horse performance give them a call and let them know I sent you. They are great to deal with an located right in Conroe Texas
How long did it take you to install these?
This set took me roughly 5 hours with all the trips I had to make, since then I’ve done 6 other sets and I can do front and rear springs on roughly 2.5 hours start to finish
Yeah they seems pretty detail oriented. I don't have the proper tools to do it. But it definitely makes a huge difference.
It definitely does make a big difference 😁
What size rims and tires?
Those are the factory 21 inch wheels and I forget the oem tire size off the top of my head
what does that mean feels sportier .. how does sportier feel?
Tighter steering, stiffer suspension, slightly less body roll
How do these compare to the h&r
Drop wise these are a little lower but to be honest I’m going to have to push you towards the H&Rs. They have been way more consistent quality wise than the Lethal’s. And ride closer to oem.
I need lowering springs for my 2021 ford explorer base! I wish someone made some…
They should fit your base model too I believe, but do some research I don't want to be wrong
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks steeda messaged me and claimed there’s work but I’ve bought stuff from them before as they said certain things would work then they didn’t and I got scammed basically. So I’m super hesitant on buying even if someone says they will work. Because returning stuff that could be damaged cosmetically while installing is a bitch
@@staying_spooky completely understand. I couldn't see the suspension changing that drastically between the models, but I could be wrong. Most manufacturers will use the same suspension for almost every model as it's cheaper that way
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks indeed! It shouldn’t be to far off but the reluctance if for sure!
If you try it out let me know how it goes!
Dude I have been trying and trying to break the top nuts off the front struts, with no luck. Any tricks?
Hit it with your purse lol😂 no but in all seriousness use a breaker bar or make some more leverage to help it break loose easier.
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks BROOOOO, 3 foot cheater bar to the rescue. Insane
@dcbrot it helps I used the end of my jack that comes off as a cheater bar lol
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks Precisely what I ended up doing! I used a ratchet strap to secure the thing to my bench, then a spark plug socket with a 1/4" shallow 10mm, and used a wrench on the flats of the spark plug socket. Rich's advice, actually!
@dcbrot hey if it worked it worked lol
Taking it around turns??? I have a car that will do that!
Your mustang isn't taking any turns unless it's straight into a crowd 🤣
Your front springs are on upside down
They aren’t upside down, if you watch the video you’ll see that they were printed upside down was even verified by lethal performance
@@HoustonSpeedFreaksif they were installed properly they wouldn't be centered they would be offset ,like you think they are installed wrong ,just like the stock ones are installed. you definitely have them on upside down buddy
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks I guess you did not pay attention to how your stock ones looked before you pulled them apart
I would have to agree , I just installed my fronts and they for sure should be offset . If you look when you put them on the way you have them the coil doesn’t fit in the isolator on the top So no disrespect but you for sure have them upside down . But question did your rears take time to settle ? My rear seems higher then expected
