The shots from the soccer field are probably some of my favorite from any DCS Cinematic. Something about military hardware surrounded by civilian infrastructure feels so surreal.

Which, for the record, was about the time the Soviets were just getting their rear aspect only R-60 missile into service. The AIM-9L was first used in combat in 1981 on Tomcats during the Gulf of Sidra incident? And was later used to great effect during the Falklands war in 1982? and seeing how the Cold War was not over yet, Raytheon would have pumped them out in sufficient numbers by 1991 to equip most if not all US military fighters with all aspect IR missiles.

Retired in 1997 as a Lieutenant Colonel, past that it looks like he's done some public speaking as recently as 2019 but I'm not sure what else.
