When I first played the game I thought he died since I was too slow, so I kept replaying the mission and targeting the A-10s early to save him. Took a couple tries before I realized he was destined to die regardless if the A-10s reached the beach o7
this one was a tense mission, having three beaches to attack, troops to defend, artillery to suppress and aircraft to shoot down. You captured this one well, dude ^w^
Operation Bunker Shot is one of the most memorable Ace Combat 4 missions for me. The gloomy settings left an impression on me I remember playing it late night in the weekends when I was a teenager. This is my childhood fantasy of seeing the invasion from ground perspective and you captured it very well. Outstanding job and I hope you make more Ace Combat fan films in the future. Also I notice Mobius 1 did a rookie mistake by choosing the A-10 for this mission lol. My personal favourite for Bunker Shot is the Rafale with its SOD load out, not to mention the Carrier landing whenever you RTB.
I liked the F/A-18C for similar reasons; you'd definitely want Carrier Planes for this to keep RTB time low IRL. Plus keeps up with the more American Equipment focus that Osea would definitely supply to ISAF (in my headcanon the Osean Federation basically bankrolled ISAF in this war and lavishly equipped them, since several member states had been considering applying for Osean statehood, undoubtedly had many of its citizens residing within them and probably provided training cadres plus possibly some "Volunteer" Units).
I LOVE the details here, as always. Even the small things. When the first enemy A-10 gets hit, there's a blink and you'll miss it shot where the pilot is missing, cuz he ejected. 2nd A-10 pilot didn't look to be so lucky.
At 4:36 it looks like the second pilot did actually eject, but his parachute opened a lot lower to the ground. If he _did_ make it, it's definitely a much closer call for him.
Ahh, Bunker Shot, this mission was one of my favorite in AC4. It was one of them that made you feel you were a part of a larger war effort. You had a large Invasion Fleet, landing zones spread across 4 beaches and numerous friendly aircraft in a large mission zone.
I remember buying the game at the bus-stop one cold, dark morning from my friend for like 2 or 3 dollars. I snuck views of the box all day at school. I remember specifically asking him "Is there a rain mission?" as I hadn't seen the potential for rain effects on PS2 yet. I was blown away and at that time felt the weather so much! Cozy yet tense mission..
This mission is a beautiful homage to Operation Overlord. What makes it even more interesting is the fact that the player sees it not as usual, on behalf of the soldiers on the beach, but on behalf of the air support pilot. Ace Combat is truly an amazing series of games! P.S. And yes, fellow Sabaton fans, I had no right to forget about our favorite: Through the gates of hell! As we make our way to heaven! Through the Nazi lines!!! Primo victoria!!!!!! On the 6th of June! On the shores of western Europe 1944! D-day upon us!!!
Gives Iron Maiden some love too ! In the gloom the gathering storm abates In the ships gimlet eyes await The call to arms to hammer at the gates To blow them wide throw evil to its fate All summers long the drills to build the machine To turn men from flesh and blood to steel From paper soldiers to bodies on the beach From summer sands to armageddon's reach Overlord, your master not your god The enemy coast dawning grey with scud These wretched souls puking, shaking fear To take a bullet for those who sent them here The world's alight, the cliffs erupt in flame No escape, remorseless shrapnel rains Drowning men no chance for a warrior's fate A choking death *enter hell's gates*
I've always thought the soundtrack for this mission is nearly identical to the track "Chopper!" from The Hunt for Red October -- identical instrumentation, identical rhythms and notes, identical vibes, etc. Fits this mission SUPER well, and really got me immersed in it. (Song: th-cam.com/video/yCfaVlnBZoA/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared )
This and Shattered Skies were my favorite missions to replay in AC4. I was blown away the first time by the rain on the canopy and descending through the clouds to see the beaches below. This video certainly brings that vibe back.
I actually remembered this mission once I saw the premise. I remember using the Tornado with its bomblet dispenser and just doing runs up and down the beach and basically clearing entire swaths of the beach at one time.
I like how you made it into a true combined offensive with the ground units doing their part and not just -the player- Mobius 1 cleaning up everything on their own.
A true labor of love bringing ISAF's D day to life like this. Super ambitious, you guys keep pushing the envelope. I'm always looking forward to your Ace Combat films. And maybe one day....
The atmosphere on this mission was fantastic, you fly in low over the ISAF Fleet during a storm as the ground forces are calling for aid on the radio, and then the fantastic track comes on that makes you feel like a hero as you’re flying low to silence the pillboxes, you just feel that ISAF is going to win with the triumphant horns in the track. And a very special touch for me was when I was taking on the F-15 Ace (I think it was TUTTLE) on this level we broke through the cloud cover dogfighting and the sun is out high above the clouds of the battlefield, it’s beautiful. Its a good metaphor that really feels like the turning point after ISAF was taking nothing but defeat after defeat the sunlight is finally shining above the clouds
I loved the tone and atmosphere of AC4 and it's still-frame anime-styled cutscenes. I've thought for a long time they're the blueprint for a great anime or tv drama made in the same style, with the story of the Usean conflict rumbling in the background and occasionally shown through incredible set pieces like this. Thanks for bringing that side of my imagination to life, Operation Bunker Shot has always been one of my favourites.
This is definitely one of your most freshest and most immersive Ace Combat videos yet. Your new style of editing for the environment and the cinematic effects on this makes it look more alive and immersive on POV and detail and just gives a much more nicer sense of realism as well. Awesome video as always Nassault! Keep up with the awesome work you put in your videos! 👌🔥
I love your attention to detail, especially how you had the vehicles/personnel have early 2000s vibes, as the setting in the Continental War did. Great video! 😇❤️
You sly dog! You had Mobius 1 in the A-10 like everyone woulda have! And the ground teams taking out the AA for their angel in the sky just shows you keep listening to what the viewers love. Beautiful as always, can’t wait to see if you ever take on something from Ace Combat 6.
Also, idk if you will ever make one, but Megalith would se such a good one. Shots in tunnels with Altman using hand grenades and USEAN seals in shock at the Erusians using a flamethrower inside a bunker.
It's really nice to see your allied units you're protecting actually do their part in destroying some of the enemy ones. It really makes you feel more like part of an army instead of a single soldier against the world (not that it's a bad thing, I just like having my 6 o'clock guarded). I don't really see that happening in Ace Combat games, or I'm just blind.
Always gotta come back every few months and rewatch each and every one of your Ace Combat vids. They're just sooo perfect. Amazing for any fan of the series.
Reminds me of the opening of MGS4. I like how Mobius One is getting his own briefing, and the weathermap. The A10 fan service is great of course. I would love to imagine an A10 built for Dogfighting. Well done as always. Considering the size of the units and the fact that Unit B got thinned out so much. I wonder if Lieutenant Baelz survived the battle.
Canonicaly this mission is carried by F18s, but really i found only with F15s or Su37s I could fly fast enough to "liberate" all 3 beaches. It wasn't even about getting S rank, that was easy, but hearing that "This is X beach, enemy forces have been neutralized" was such a thrill.
Yep. F-15E with SFW was my favourite on this mission. Do a quick dash back halfway through the second mission to re arm then a second one, if on time, to get AAM for the last phase. Good times.
Another great video. Showing how while it was a smallish defense force, they still inflicted casualties. Also very nice in seeing the ground forces taking care of SAMs as well and not just Mobius 1 doing all the work.
Gosh i love your content. I'd love to see you do a mission like Ghosts of Razgriz from AC5. Not sure how you'd animate disarming a nuclear bomb but I'm sure you could do it. But hell any more AC5 or AC 0 videos would be great. Keep up the phenomenal work!
Great work on the film. Op. Bunker Shot is one of my favorite AC4 missions. It did an excellent job of presenting a close air support mission, taking targets of opportunity as you rushed from group to group. It really gave the A-10 a chance to shine, so glad you chose that as Mobius One's plane for this :)
This mission gave me the white knuckles, speed was key and I was always pressing that throttle to the max. One of the few times I also ever committed to gun runs cause I ran out of special and reserved missiles for phase 2.
I absolutely love your Ace Combat video mash up with DCS. And hearing those mission briefs and soundtracks give me goose bumps and feelings of nostalgia every time. PLEASE KEEP MAKING MORE!!!
3:20 The way you time the heroic musical turn with the shot of Mobius tearing down out of the clouds is 👨🍳 kiss. Unlock super thanks. I insist on donating.
Thank you Nassault!!! I’ve been waiting for this for years and I’m so excited when I saw notification on TH-cam. I love your films so much! This is absolutely a masterpiece. Just want to say thank you again and again.
Just knowing that there are some of the best missions remaining and that you’ll probably improve your editing/craft even further by the time you release them makes me so unbelievably excited. Keep it up dude. These are GREAT.
This is so ambitious! It's awesome to see you trying out all kinds of new techniques and composite shots! I loved this one, and I look forward to your next film as usual!
Awesome job Nassault! This was one of my favourite missions when I was young. You've done a beautiful job meaning together different assets from different sources and suspending disbelief. Your hard work continues to amaze me and I hope to see another Ace Combat video on the near future. 10/10
The APC and soldier with rocket launcher taking out the SAM Truck was a nice touch. Mobius One may be a legend, but it's a team effort and the boys on the ground will take it personal if anyone on takes a shot at their friendly A-10 providing them all that nice air cover. The fact Mobius One is constantly popping flares drives home how dangerous of a situation it was for a low, slow bird like the A-10 and that, awesome as it is, the thing might well be out of place on a modern battlefield (Bastion many years earlier practically spelled that out in blood). The face that Bales doesn't make it was a nice touch even back then; he was upset things were not as promised and when HQ wanted to be a smartass at the end, they found out Bales paid for the poor execution. You can't lay it 100% at HQs feet, as the enemy has something to do with it and will have their say even in the face of overwhelming force, but that guy at HQ must've felt like hell.
I know there's been a recent rise of A-10 detractors (especially thanks to a certain Pig that recently got BTFO and wholly deserved it for what he did), but it's worth keeping in mind that Strangereal adapts from our real world, but in our real world, there's a reason why the United States Air Force is the only user of the A-10 on the planet. And it's not a coincidence that the USAF is also the same organization that wrote the book on how to do SEAD and the USAF is the most capable SEAD air force on the planet. And few want to admit that virtually any non-low-observable aircraft is in extreme danger when thrown against a proper IADS. We lost the same amount of AV-8s - an aircraft with more advanced sensors and avionics than the A-10A at the time... and is also much faster - as we did A-10s in Desert Storm. A fact that is lost or unknown to many people. Yes, if you send A-10As into a dedicated air defense network, they'll be shot down. And we see from history that so, too, will F-15Es, F-16s, AV-8s, etc. Context is important.
I watched this video with Enter Sandman by Metallica, It was a ethereal experience. It fit so well. Great Job Nassault, I love your videos and I can't wait for your content to come.
i loved this mission a lot, seeing the flares slowly drifting down from the sky while its pouring rain so much you can't see what's in front and your friends are trying to rush to the beach as fast as possible while getting shot by howitzers from the far back terrain of the beaches. thank you for bring it all to life Nassault.
I giggled at the “Dedicated to Lieutenant Bales”.

When I first played the game I thought he died since I was too slow, so I kept replaying the mission and targeting the A-10s early to save him. Took a couple tries before I realized he was destined to die regardless if the A-10s reached the beach o7

Same, man. Same.
I loved using the F-14 for this mission since you start the mission with a couple of them with you but this one was an amazing experience

Good job with this, everything from the modeling to actually going to real life places for the footage. You really went above and beyond for this.

It’s always a good day when Nassault uploads an Ace Combat video.

Also the A-10 on A-10 gun kill was FANTASTIC
Man you have no idea how much I love and look forward to these. Please keep making them 🙏
Great work on the film. Op. Bunker Shot is one of my favorite AC4 missions. It did an excellent job of presenting a close air support mission, taking targets of opportunity as you rushed from group to group. It really gave the A-10 a chance to shine, so glad you chose that as Mobius One's plane for this :)
4:30 I feel like the A-10 is the absolutely last plane you'd want to be within gun-range of your own plane...
Its always a treat when you upload , thanks for letting me relive my memoties of playing through AC4 once more NA!
It’s a good thing I was in the middle of going through the campaign of AC4 recently. This is a treat as usual. Thank you 😊
This mission gave me the white knuckles, speed was key and I was always pressing that throttle to the max. One of the few times I also ever committed to gun runs cause I ran out of special and reserved missiles for phase 2.
Love these, I come back and re-watch them every once and a while. Really hits the nostalgia.
Making me tear up of nostalgia, Nick. Excellent work as always! Hope all’s well!

I love this mission in Ace Combat 4. It's the Omaha Beach D-Day of Ace Combat.
Second time watching the video, STILL have that heartache when I remember Lt. Bales. God, its been 16 years (20 years Strangereal)
really enjoying watching you fix this up. it really goes to show with enough willing and knowledge you can usually fix most things
Just knowing that there are some of the best missions remaining and that you’ll probably improve your editing/craft even further by the time you release them makes me so unbelievably excited. Keep it up dude. These are GREAT.
This is some of your best work yet!
The ending song was a great touch and a nice contrast the the chaos and bombast of the landing

Never disappointed by a video by Nassault ! I love the mix between DCS and real footage.

The APC and soldier with rocket launcher taking out the SAM Truck was a nice touch. This is by far my favorite Ace Combat game in the series. Really wish we'd get a remake of it in Unreal Engine
Love a lot of the ground footage included in the recent films, it's a perspective you rarely see in these games.
Excellent work! Brings back the nostalgia of playing AC4
Thanks for stopping by :)
Supreme work, as usual! Hope to see many more in the future.
RIP Lt. Bales.
I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire video! Awesome work!
Outstanding job as always
God this is the best one yet! It made my day. Thank you.
Always a treat when Nassault drops a new AC video
God I really wish theyd do a modern D Day mission in the next AC game. Bunker shot probably had the best atmosphere in any mission.
Always loved your work man, and i will continue to wait for Gracemeria.
Bunker Shot wrecked me as a kid. My crappy little CRT trying to give me a clear view while I fail to properly respond to attacks. 😂
Never disappointed, always impressed. Loving all of it
Operation Bunker Shot was the mission that made me fall in love with Ace Combat. Thank you for your films Nassault.
This is pure art. Outstanding work.
The editing for the bunker machine gun explosion took a lot of editing. It's always such a joy to see a new video of yours in my feed.
I watched this video with Enter Sandman by Metallica, It was a ethereal experience. It fit so well. Great Job Nassault, I love your videos and I can't wait for your content to come.
Another awesome animation! And you even went to shoot at a real life location, now that's dedication to your work!
i loved this mission a lot, seeing the flares slowly drifting down from the sky while its pouring rain so much you can't see what's in front and your friends are trying to rush to the beach as fast as possible while getting shot by howitzers from the far back terrain of the beaches. thank you for bring it all to life Nassault.
Another amazing video once again! Great job , Nassault!
I have just realize that you use GTA 5 and Arma models and combine them with DCS. That's incredible!
Nassault. I think I can speak for all of us when I say, “You NEVER cease to amaze us!”
Keep up the good content.
I LOVE what you do with the sound and video distortion. The immersion is perfect for turn-of-the-millennium technology.
I love how you show the ground troops perspective❤
Phenomenal, wow you are truly an amazing filmmaker, and the appreciation toward everyone else involved!!
Netflix should hire you to make an Ace Combat 4 series.
Your videos are always such a treat
I always thought this mission and track were underated, glad to see it done some justice.
