Thanks for the heads up on Milliput giving you a sample of the new putty. I received some as well yesterday and did some crack repairs today on a chunk of wood I was turning. Hope to finish the outside tomorrow then onto the inside and then find more cracks to fill as well. Should look good with this putty in the cracks.
I think my favourite moment of most of your videos is that first time you put isopropyl alcohol on the surface and the beauty of the wood suddenly leaps into view. The cherry in this piece gives a beautiful example.
Wow! The Cherry wood is so beautiful. And the shape of the bowl really shows off the unique growth rings. Thank you for giving the close up at the end. It revealed the shiny colors in the Metallic Milliput. Happy for you that you have found another addition to your artist pallet.
I’ve been spoilt recently, having the pleasure of your company so often. The bowl is beautiful and you have inspired me to dig out my milliput. My Son took three of my inlay bowls back to France with him for his friends, one of whom carried the Olympic torch. Have a great week Mike and hopefully we’ll meet in November 🌞
I especially love when you make bowls of interesting shapes like this one. And I’m so glad that you were able to get those two black bits out of the metallic epoxy putty with the sanding.
I so love the angles on the side of the bowl. Very unusual and so very beautiful! Cherry is such a lovely wood. Gorgeous grain. Congratulations on yet another successful turn.
Love the shape, and the wood grain. What a nice inlay! Also, I had no idea a chunk of wood could be unbalanced simply because of how it was growing and then cut -- very valuable learning experience. Thank you.😊
It says a lot for life that you've posted on a Saturday, and I was sitting in my house on a Saturday night watching you 😂 I would never have thought of using milliput for inlay, but it is for filling in gaps 😊
Hello Mike. One of the first videos of yours that I watched included an inlay. And I thought it was beautiful. This one is absolutely gorgeous, with the markings on the cherry wood. Definitely one you should be very proud of. Have a great week.
I really enjoy your adventurous videos. The piece of wood is really pretty. It has a lovely sheen. It's interesting to see the difference in weight. I wouldn't notice that on my own. I was really nervous when you cut in for the putty. I'm glad it went so smoothly. I think it's a beautiful bowl. Nice work, Mike!! 😊
When this popped up I was right in the middle of making a video about using Milliput to rescue naff wood. I love what you did and can't wait to try something with that new stuff. Their products RULE and your channel has me inspired. Thank you :-)
I think I need to have a word with Milliput... I've been adding brass and aluminium powder to my black Milliput for about 18 months, cheeky gits are copying me! A really nice piece Mike. I love the smooth bowl with the angled sides... bravo sir!
Okay, Mike! I couldn't take it anymore. You just made me buy Milliput's full-sized, al varieties kit. Go ahead. Tell 'em. Thanks alot, mister. Seriously. Thanks for the information. 👍
That turned out really nice, love the inlay !!! And huzzah to Milliput, been using their stuff for decades now lol... Thanks for taking the time to share Mike !!!
A beautiful piece Mike. The profile is striking and the cherry is gorgeous. The inlay adds an interesting contrast. Like seeing the new things you are trying, makes for an interesting journey in wood turning!
I love the bowl. Very well done. As you said, a very interesting grain line in the wood. I wish I knew how that occurred. I have not seen such a line in any of my wood pieces. Fascinating. The stills at the end do show the metallic epoxy well. Nice contrast of the black and the metallic. Dave.
Hi Mike what a stunning effect of the Metallic and Black Miiiput. The shape and design go together to produce a marvellous bowl. Catch you on the next one. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Mike, at first the blank looked a little unimpressive but it really turned out quite nicely and your inlay worked out perfectly. The color of the new Milliput looks almost pearlescent on screen kind of reminded me of mother of pearl.
Thanks Mike 👍. That’s another idea I’ll borrow from you when I get some free time. I’ve got a few of your videos to catch up with over the next few days, can’t wait. Cheers
Surprise weekend upload! That cherry is gorgeous. I wish the camera picked up the metallic a bit better, but I trust you that it looks great in person 😀
Beautiful bowl. I’m glad you showed a close up of the metallic inlay, from a distance it just looked white. We had a similar product at work and if you mix it without gloves, it takes a week or more to wear off. It wasn’t the best smelling stuff while mixing either. 😄
Another wonderful piece. Enjoyed your new inlay today and look forward to a few more ‘plays’ with it. I loved what you were doing at the end with the rolls.
Great piece Mike! I really like the way the metallic milliput looks in the inlay. I'd also love to see you do an inlay inside of an inlay with the metallic and the black, like you mentioned.
I first used milliput years ago when I was building model kits. Alas that's no more due to my health condition. You couldn't get the choice of colours back then that you can now. It's fantastic stuff with a million & one uses. The metalic one that you used here Mike looks really interesting. I wonder what it would look like mixed with one of the other colours in the range. Mmmm ! 👍🏴

@@GavinConwayWoodworkBBQ Indeed! Let me know how it goes 😀

Thanks Ben, it's my favourite part as well 😀
Gotta say, your sanding montages are the only ones I actually enjoy watching.
Same.
Thanks! So glad I came up with the idea, never going back lol 😀
Couldn't agree more! The amount of time in editing that must take has to be ridiculous.
@@MikeHolton I have to agree, I love how it has its own beat! Awesome work.
Yet another video when you never let us down with your great talk through of making the piece, and the beautiful results.
Thanks so much John 😀
I think this bowl is possibly my favourite of all your bowls. The finished piece is stunning
Thanks so much 😀
Beautiful inlay but the profile is what really sets this piece off! Fantastic
Thanks Bill! 😀
From my perspective, the inlay looks like opal. Very nice piece, both the inlay and the turning. Well done!
Thank you very much Dana 😀
I love the shape you came up with, the grain of the cherry is just amazing and the inlay is just gorgeous
Thanks so much Rena 😀
The cherry grain is tremendous and so is the shape. Your creativity with what is basically a filler will hopefully inspire a wider range of colours. ❤
I hope so Jayne and thanks 😀

As always Mike, you ability to create something beautiful out of wood gives me courage to try. Thank you.
Thanks Michael, it is a fun, you should try 😀
I especially love when you make bowls of interesting shapes like this one. And I’m so glad that you were able to get those two black bits out of the metallic epoxy putty with the sanding.
Thanks Dawn and me too 😀
That profile is absolutely spot on! Beautiful shaped piece and the inlay looks great, I would love to see this piece in real life
Thank you very much Damian, it looks so much better in real life 😀
Awesome piece! Just the right amount of metallic, and you're right: the thin black sets it off beautifully. Well done! ☺️
Thanks so much Cynthia 😀
Simply elegant! The size and shape of the bowl is useful as well as beautiful!
Thank you very much! 🙏

Thank you.😊
Glad it was helpful.Shelley 😁
Beautiful!! You can see the metallic properties when you were tipping the bowl side to side. Very pretty! 😊
Thank you Lisa 😊
That grain figure is really impressive! I definitely like the way the black sets off the metallic.
Thanks so much Susan 😀
It says a lot for life that you've posted on a Saturday, and I was sitting in my house on a Saturday night watching you 😂 I would never have thought of using milliput for inlay, but it is for filling in gaps 😊
Thanks Nikki, it works so well for inlays and you can add metal shavings to it for a really stunning inlay 😁

It certainly has😀

Really beautiful and so much easier than resin. I think I need to see this in person sooner or later.
You should! It's fun stuff 😁
Good old Milliput...a lovely bowl. ❤

Mike you simply made my Saturday a much better day that bowl is fantastic

Dave.
Thanks Dave, the only comment that seems to make sense is someone suggested that it could be a graft line. I guess it's possible.
Another lovely piece, you cannot beat a bit of inlay.
No you can't, thanks Simon 😀
Love watching the artist! Thanks from Kentucky.
Thanks so much Larry 😀
Another outstanding piece Mike.......well done sir well done

Mike, at first the blank looked a little unimpressive but it really turned out quite nicely and your inlay worked out perfectly. The color of the new Milliput looks almost pearlescent on screen kind of reminded me of mother of pearl.
Thanks I think so too, I would ay more pearl than metallic! 😀
That cherry is gorgeous, and the inlay turned out great. I tend to make a huge mess with resin, so maybe milliput is the way to go.
Thanks! It is really easy to use and a lot less messy lol 😀
Unique grain pattern. Love the enlay. Well done.
Many thanks! 😀
When you put the isopropyl on...Well oh my word what a beautiful grain. Love the shape of that bowl it's Right up my strasse

The Milliput looks really nice. Seems this is mainly a plumbers putty for fixing porcelain. Works really well for what you are doing. Very nice.
Thanks Tim, it has so many uses 😀
Love the grain of the bowl! Great to see new products being used and given an honest opinion of how good or bad it may be. Cheers
Thanks and you're welcome Robert 😀
Surprise weekend upload! That cherry is gorgeous. I wish the camera picked up the metallic a bit better, but I trust you that it looks great in person 😀
Thanks, there are a couple of closeups at the end that show it off better but still does not do it justice 😀
Beautiful bowl.
I’m glad you showed a close up of the metallic inlay, from a distance it just looked white.
We had a similar product at work and if you mix it without gloves, it takes a week or more to wear off.
It wasn’t the best smelling stuff while mixing either. 😄
Thanks Barry, this will wash off immediately if you mix with bear hands and has virtually no odour 😀
Unique and beautiful! Interesting product, thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks Lisa 😁

That was a very interesting piece of cherry with the very distinct line between the intersections of the two areas of the tree.
Wood can be amazing! 😀
Really nice result! Looks like you are enjoying your new workshop. :)
Thanks and yes I really am 😀
I ordered Milliput in black to fill some large cracks in my Rosewood. I'm looking forward to using it tomorrow 😊
