Survive here for $500 -Yes
Live comfortable for $500 - No
It's not a question if someone can do it, it's a question on if someone would want to do it.
I agree. I will be going over what it would cost to live comfortably in the next video. Stay tuned and thanks for watching.
@@KuyaJason if there was constant info on that I would have made a video on it. I have the largest data on what foreigners are spending here compared to anyone else. Currently have over 800 foreigners cost of living on a spreadsheet. However, there’s thousands of different islands, then city vs province, so there’s no one set number and the “average cost” is a very large scale.
Yes it is possible. IF you get startup costs out of the way, and a cheap place to rent (outside big population centers), and you're just a single guy living by yourself, $500 for basic operating expenses is doable. For a family of 3, living in a 3brm/2 bath townhouse, we average about $900 USD, which includes AC, hot water and other misc necessities. If your partner is frugal and works with your budget, you can do a lot. On the other hand, if you have to pony up a lot for extended family and a bunch of kids (single mothers), you'll most likely go belly up.
That’s great feedback 😃. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and feedback. Thanks for watching.
@@KuyaJason ☺☺
Thanks for your time.
I'm sure people are stepping around this topic since it is considered a social no-no to mention a person's weight. I'm going to say the obvious; you're obese.
Avoiding carbs and manufactured sugary types of foods. You live in a hot climate, so your heart is working harder to do its job.
It's a wonderful thing to be accepted for who you are but perhaps in a decade or so your body will show how stressed it is and you'll have more challenges.
lol. Nah. Me obese. Yeah I am going to work on it when it cools off a bit. Thanks for caring though. Take care.
Good video. Just a note about coffee : you can do with the italian machine, it will be better and cheaper. Just need a grinder (10$) and a italian machine (10$).
Thank you for your comment. I personally buy ground coffee from shoppee. I don’t really like the instant. It’s not strong enough for me. What kind of coffee do you buy and where?
As an american, I think I could live on close to 500 a month. But I’m a minimalist. I just want a clean dignified (but not big or fancy) place to live, food, water, electricity, internet. I need to start eating healthy and cut down on meat anyway. The only luxuries i need are air conditioning and maybe going out to eat once in a blue moon.
Yes air conditioning is a must in the phillipines. It’s sooooo hot. You could definitely do it if you live in the province like us and buy from the market. Thanks for sharing.
He should be buying in the street markets and get the necessities and philippines brands. It is much cheaper.
I totally agree. I did mention in the video that you will get better prices at a market. And yes i agree as i mentioned in the video American products still carry the American inflated prices like the peanut butter I showed was double the price. Thanks for your feedback. Much appreciated 🤔😉
That's equivalent to less than 30k PHP. Yes, you can live comfortable with that amount. Just live simply.
Thank you for your reply. Thanks for watching 😉
Disagree 100%
@@kleerogers you notice that she’s Filipina. It’s definitely doable. I never said we live on $500 a month 😃. I just said it’s possible
@@KuyaJason Agreed, and I do understand, you and I can not do it, but a Filipina can if they have no choice, my wife left PI 30 years ago, she can not live like that anymore, nor should she have to
I agree with you there. I came here to get more for my money. I spend about $2200 a month. But if you watched the videos you would notice that I did say it’s possible but that’s not how we live. lol. I enjoy spending money and traveling and having nice things. I love it here because $2200 goes a long way. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts. Please keep watching. Stay tuned for part 3.
You can expense less if you try to buy in the market not on the market such as big grocery store since each product has 12%value added tax.
Excellent point. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Thanks for watching 😌
Thats nice
Eat rice and move in with the family 😮Extremely simple just how long can you do it! Adjust Filipinos do it 😊😮
Thanks for sharing your thoughts 😋. Yes Filipinos do it everyday.
Hey brother, is this sm in Camiling?thanks, have a great day.
It’s about 50 minutes outside of CAMILING. It’s technically in Pangasinan
The prices are a good excuse to start eating more healthy actual food. Stick to eggs, milk, oatmeal, rice, lentils, chicken, vegetables, fish (cod/tuna...) and stay away from all the overprices junk processed products you shown.
Thanks for your comment. I tried to show a variety of options.
Yes! You can eat very healthy for less. Go to the market for whatever veggies are on sale. Avoid processed snacks, etc. Moringa is exceedingly healthy and free or nearly free in a lot of places, or can spend western prices for food at a grocery store, buy chips and other non-essentials. Your improved health alone would be worth the effort. Also, eggs are a good bargain anywhere.
Great advice. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. ☺️
1000$ maybe
Thanks for your reply 😊
Helps to grow your own veggies, fruits, and herbs.
Perfect advice!! Thanks ☺️
helps to actually have planned for retirement, SS is not enough anywhere in the world, it was never meant as a complete retirement income, more like a bonus to what everyone should plan for early in their working lives, then you are all set for a good retirement
@@kleerogersI agree. Good advice my friend. I would also recommend bringing over $9,999 cash.
@@KuyaJason Yes having cash on hand is good, but Wise money transfer works great, you just need a bank account in the country you are going to, in Thailand we have many friends that allow us to use tehr account to transfer funds, so easy, no more atm FOR US IN MANY YEARS
I will check out wise money. We have a couple bank accounts here in the Philippines. I have been using Remitly for over two years.
By the way do you know the ingredients in hot dogs? If you did I doubt you would ever buy them again
lol. 😂
Seriously??? $2,000 USD min a month for one person, for a couple $2500 USD, The philippines is more expensive than Thailand, we are right at $2200 USD in Thailand for 2 people per month, $500 USD, not even in Cambodia or Laos, impossible
Anything is possible 😁
That's way too much, move to Montana or a place closer to home, say some place in South American, where there is a much better infrastructure. I've heard a lot of good things about the visa process in Cambodia. Really, for $2500, you have a LOT of choices, especially developing countries.
@@user-zu5tv7zt6v why would anyone in their right mind want to live in the USA? I am Canadian, and I choose to live in Thailand, after travelling all around SE Asia, Thailand winis
@@kleerogers Good point, have you seen our presidential candidates? Lots might not want to move away from family members, whom they are still close to. The US is a beautiful country, but unfortunately filled with too many 'mixed nuts' now. Also, believe it or not many, many residents are borderline poor, or worse, so don't have to means to relocate. From what I hear, Canada is also on the decline.
If you're a Filipino is more than enough. For foreigners no because they can't eat everything what pilipinos eat in the Philippines.
