TackleShare is a program run by the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) since 1998. With the help from Ontario Power Generation as our title sponsor, we are proud to deliver this important program that encourages fishing as a fun, family activity that can be done anywhere in Ontario.
Wherever you fish, remember to follow signs and “Stay Clear, Stay Safe” as water near dams and hydro stations can turn dangerous in a heartbeat.

Keep a packed fishing bucket of necessities and a rod (or two) in vehicle. It’s roadside emergency entertainment when your car breaks down (by water) - you can fish until the tow truck arrives! Time not wasted and potentially could bring home dinner.
This happened to me mother day! Our vehicle broke down and thankfully we had our fishing gear and I caught a couple perch and suckers waiting for the tow truck! Helped relieve a lot of stress that day!
Keeping the packet bucket and rod in vehicle is also great for those times when you want to test waters you’ve driven by to see if it’s a good spot to come back later to fish! ;) (saving gas and time)

WIth smaller kids its nice that they have their own tackle box. Gives them pride to have their own with their own tackle and needs. We use little pencil cases and or storage boxes from the dollar store. They then use stickers /markers to make it their own. They are then responsible for it!

Well, you already had my favorite hack in this gift package. I have been using polarized sunglasses for years while fishing. It really helps to see deeper and more clearly into the water. If you can't directly see fish, it still helps to see bottom, vegetation, woody cover and you can see the shadow of sharp depth transitions underwater.

My hack is for ice fishing. I use an underwater camera, but without adding the tripod mount for turning and positioning, cut a notch in the lid of a 5 gallon pail right to the center. Feed your cable through, and place over the hole. Now just turn the lid to turn your camera!

I like fishing senko worms Texas rigged. After some time and catches, the top of the worm gets shredded and can’t hold on the hook. I just bite off the top half inch and re-rig, so I’m using less lures and saving money that way. Upsize the worms you buy so when they’re cut shorter like this they still have similar action

My fishing hack is always carry good hook cutters. Never know when you’re going to need them. You could need them to cut hooks to get the fish back in the water sooner. You could need them to cut hooks because you ended up with hooks stuck into you. I once had hooks in my hand and had to cut the barbs them the hook so I could pull them back through.

My fishing is fishing right below rapids and behind cover on fast flowing water. It’s so fun and productive and not many people fish in these areas. I’ve caught some of my biggest bass and pike and walleye in small pools of water with rapids behind them. Usually rapalas work the best

If you happen to encounter wind knot on your spinning reel, the wise thing to do is loosen your drag till it is almost without resistance. Close the bail arm and slowly pull out the line and hopefully it will untangle the wind knot. After that is settle, tighten your drag and wind it up and keep on fishing.
