It's about the people not the place, that's what matters most. Most countries are beautiful they have plenty of things to offer and plenty have good food, interesting culture but that's not the important part. The mirage of marketing is just that, a mirage.
Anyway, the West has focused too much on the economic aspect of society and they have neglected all other aspects. As far as I know, Kazakhstan is very hospitable, you are not gonna find that in France or Italy. Switzerland has no virgin forest, no bears, most of Europe has destroyed its nature by modernizing everything - less so in RO, Serbia, Bulgaria. Look for wildflowers in the countryside in Western Europe, in many places you won't see them.
Oh and your friend is Turkish i think, Turkey is worth visiting, plenty of things to see, the history of an empire, good food.
