My wife let me get the dc designs F-15 for my birthday and you taught me how to use the auto pilot! Awesome! Hud thanks for making these videos and keep up the great work sir!
Nice video. Getting back into FS after nearly 10 years away. The reason the aircraft veered off the runways is because with the AP still On it go stupid and tries to follow the guide signal that's transmitted from the left of the runway near the touchdown lines. I know FS-X actually would render the ILS shed.
Another autopilot video for something bigger like the Cessna Citation CJ4/Longitude would be helpful for us newbies. Thanks for this video, I learned a lot!
Hello there, I carefully watched both parts of this, and enjoyed every moment of it! So, thank you very much for it, and i'll be using AP regularly from now on, surely. I'll just add a suggestion to it, perhaps for a "Part 3" video: almost everything shown here was based on flight planning, prior to departure. Maybe you could show us to input (or add/change) a waypoint/destination in mid-air. I believe the G1000 has something like a nearest airport list, right? That would be fun!
Great video!! As an experiment, next time you try that, click "ALT" on the AP at the point you would normally flare. That might simulate a flare by pitching up to try to maintain the flare altitude. More Science! 😁😎
@@Huddison No, No auto pilot at all in any plane I've flown for real. Only recently was a Garmin 500 series installed in the plane I have access to, but still no AP... LOL As for that AP landing tip... I have no idea if hitting "ALT" at flare will work or not.. Just a thought.. LOL

Maybe I missed it in the vid, but don't you have to program a Nav radio to the ILS frequency? It's currently how I do it, but just wondering if I may learn something new. Great video BTW. I was very interested in seeing what actually happens when the AP actually puts you on the ground as I usually do the same floating procedure you used. I especially enjoy doing this at night with almost zero visibility. Such a great feeling when all is black then the runway lights magically appear. Great stuff.
I typically use my Logitech Radio panel to tune in NAV/COMM frequencies; although got a video in the pipeline to show how you can do this via your controller.

My first night landing and my first flight with real-world weather was too challenging. Need to go back and practice landings with daylight and without weather.
Thank you so much for another great video - I have a quick question; you did not mention putting in the ILS frequency. I noticed the frequency changed from when you left to 111.15 when you were on final approach. Does G1000 update the ILS freq automatically or did you add the frequency yourself. Many Thanks
