Dear Dr. Hayley, I was hoping you could help me with this situation. I have been notified that I have been placed second on the panel for a PhD position and should the person who has been placed first, be unable to accept the position, I'll be offered the scholarship. How should I respond to this? I'm extremely grateful but would like to know when to "move on". Would it be appropriate to ask for some clarity on when the other candidate has to accept the position or not? Your video really helped me prepare for the interview and trust that you're advice would be helpful too.
