    This was the straw that broke the camels back for my 2020 Jeep gladiator. I had so many problems, electrical problems and finally I discovered all my door hinges, doors, hood had this. The Jeep dealership had no idea what they were doing when I went to request to get it repaired. This problem as per many I have spoken to, including two current owners WILL COME BACK. It will keep coming back for the life of the vehicle. They still make them with this flaw and by the time my warranty would run out from the class action lawsuit it would be happening again. Instead of having the clueless service department repaint basically my entire gladiator I just cut my losses, threw on some hinge covers and traded it in. While I wanted to love my gladiator it turned out to be the worst vehicle I have ever owned.

    My 2022 Gladiator Rubicon that’s garaged kept just started developing these bubbles along the hood, hinges, doors and tailgate. The local dealer in Ft. Myers Florida wouldn’t even see me since I bought it at another dealership thats over 3 hours away. I eventually found a dealer that’s an hour away that would help me out. Once there they took pictures of all the affected areas for documentation. Told me they will send the paperwork in for approval and will get the necessary parts for repair. Said it should take about a month for the approval process. They will then schedule the service and it will take about 1 week for the service to be completed. I just hope it’s covered under the 5 year corrosion warranty. This is my third jeep. It’s sad you spend a ton of money on a vehicle and now have to worry about this happening again.

      Yeah some dealerships won't do it because they don't have body shops. Hopefully you can find out close by that can help you get it fixed

    I just had this issue with three of my doors. I was told by the outside body shop that Chrysler screwed up and bought both aluminum and steel door bolts and threw them all together . Because the panels are aluminum and bolts are metal - the different metallurgy combination will cause corrosion . My fourth door happened to have all aluminum bolts and was fine - unlike the other three. I was told that Chrysler did take care of the problem by installing small shims under the bolts to fix the issue in 2024

    BEWARE ! Just got my 2020 Jeep Rubicon back from Suncoast in Seminole FL, After 6 months of this process. Replaced all doors and the hood. Came back with a dozen air Bubbles in the new hood, door locks on passenger don't work, New warning light on dash, and Rubicon decals will not be put on for 3 more weeks. Such a mess with Suncoast DO NOT GO THERE for Corrosion warranty claim and they never offered me a rental took 2 weeks for them to complete

    The problem is in the bolting together of dissimilar metals. Namely, steel hinges and aluminum doorskin. It's produces what's called "galvanic corrosion." All that is needed to do is either paint both surfaces being bolted together, or put a gasket between them.

    • @CS-zz2bf
      @CS-zz2bf ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really. There is bare aluminum behind the hinge since they shoot the complete assembled body with the doors on. Moisture is getting behind the hinge and causing corrosion. The lower doors and edges of hoods are from the seam where it skin folds under. Ford had this same problem and they are still dealing with it.

      The hinges are not steel. The hinges and door panels on a JL and JT are all aluminum. Had a JL, now I have a JT. A simple check with a magnet confirms it. It's happening on hoods too. Nowhere near any hinges. Mopar is now basically replacing the entire door, hood and tailgate (as required) here in Ontario.

    My 2020 JLU is in the shop for the second time. Last year it was hood & hinges. This year 4 doors and 8 hinges + while it was in the paint shop they discovered corrosion on the windshield frame and swing gate! I am one of the lucky owners in that the dealer is 100% taking care of me. All new pieces parts being replaced and painted. Downside is matching the paint may turn my Pumpkin' into a clown car! There is still plenty of confusion on warranty in general and paint in particular. My dealer and some sources say 5 years from when the vehicle is put in service for the paint. Also I have a Canuck build but the dealer is treating it like a US car for warranty purposes.

    This is getting rediculous. I've owned multiple Jeep Wranglers and it's getting really bad every year. I ordered mine last year and took possesion this January and came in with many paint issues. Check all door jambs even under the door, you'll see faded or matte like finished. It should be gloss all the way through and of course the infamous hinges. Check the hood for imperfections in and out, tailgate for uneven paint, over spray , etc.... so I called FCA/Stellantis and made a complaint. I let the dealer know also and took few pics of the damages. On top of that, the half doors option that came in with the Jeep also have the same issues lol. Wow!!!! So, i demanded the dealer and Stellantis to fix the problem and they did with so many arms and legs to pull. The dealership was so bad that I had to do all the communications to Stellantis. Now my Jeep looks even better than factory. Thanks to the bodyshop. What do I get from the dealership and Stellantis? NOTHING...not even an apology. What a joke. Now' i'm starting to doubt my loyalty to Jeep for more than a decade. Maybe switch to Bronco, who Knows. Jeep owners need to take this issues to another level, if Jeep doesn't know the issues...they will never know the problems existed.

    Really pissed with mine. Took it to the dealer with 37,000km and was told they wouldn't repair both doors and all hinges because it was 35 days over the 5 years in Canada. Was told I could appeal to FCA and did so. They said they would do the repairs and they would call the dealership. When I called the dealership to book the repair I was told FCA doesn't have final say and was told the area manager does. I was then told as a "good will" to me they are DECLINING to do the repair because I bought it out of province. Dont know what to do now.

    So I had ( key word ) a 19 Mojito JLU & WOW !!! They painted all ( yes all ) my hinges including the tailgates , three doors TWICE !!! After noticing it again on two hinges the hood , one door & the tailgate around hinges area I Said F it !!! I traded it in on a new 23 JTR & let them deal with fixing it a third time but by this point all but the cab portion of the jeep will have been painted so I truly hope its new owner doesn't have to experience this & I hope and pray the Gladiator doesn't have this issue !!!! Yes it is easy to get fixed under the warranty and I didn't have to commute to Canada but it's just a pain to purchase a new expensive ride to have these kind of issues !!! FYI I'm just outside Pittsburgh

    Great video... but I am going to spoil the party - unfortunately. I have a 2019 Wrangler and also had the corrosion issue; I brought it in to the dealer a good year ago, maybe a bit longer, and it was a fairly easy process to get it repaired. However, about a year later, the issue came back and again, a couple of doors have developed bubbles, indicating corrosion under the paint. I have not yet gone back to the dealer but I hope, as you suggested, they'll just re-repair it again. Having said that, if they simply sand it down and repaint it, it will happen again and again... the issue is, as someone pointed out, the two metals touching so as long as the repair does not include some type of separation between the metals, it'll just be a temporary bandaid solution. Btw, I'm also in Ontario, Canada. Looks like the dealership you went to is up Hwy 400 close to Barrie.

Believe it or not, It's still not complete. Paint shop did not fix one door hinge, dealership giving me grief about talking it back to finish the job. Service advisor, keeps making excuses, and won't call me with updates. Unless I call them, I wouldn't get any info at all. Been waiting since early February. Detailing his 2019 Wrangler so I can sell it, with only 6,900 miles on it, It was always garage kept and his Jeep actually had the corrosion on the hinges when he bought it brand new!! I believe it sat on the dealers lot for about a year because of the not so popular Billet Silver Metallic color. This Jeep still smells brand new inside, and it’s a shame a $40,000 Jeep has this issue. I just I hope I can just sell it and let the new owner deal with it. Modern day Jeep vehicles have terrible quality - one of the worst in the industry today. I have no idea why anyone would own one these heaps as they perform terribly (acceleration, cornering, and braking stats are from the 50's), they are terrible on the road (super noisy and horrendous ride), and they look like someone spent less than 5 minutes assembling these piles of junk. And yet people just keep buying them. One fun fact - people that by a new Jeep only do so once, almost no repeat buyers. Only in America.
