  • Part one of my Starfield "Becoming a God" series covers the starting point of this combat proficiency journey. The goal of this series is to document the skill and gear progression starting with virtually no FPS combat abilities, and ending with all of the best skills and gear. How will this change the player's approach to combat and will it dramatically alter their playstyle? Let's find out!

    Merry Christmas Captains! Now that Part One is out of the way and I’ve reached level 60, next on the agenda is to become the Mantis, claim the Razorleaf, and redesign it. The redesign is called the Scythe, and it is arguably the best fighter ship that you can build. Stay tuned! After the Scythe I have another fighter on deck, but the Helion is a fighter with respectable cargo and a bit more creature comfort.
    Thanks for watching!

      Should I use my Razorleaf as a base for the Basillisk or this Scythe?

    • @WizeOldWizard
      @WizeOldWizard  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @savemc6181 Scythe, for sure. It makes a lot more sense for lore and RP. Basilisk can be built over whatever you got.

    I had recently restarted because of a bug and have been pushing the Stealth solo build. So everything has a silencer on it and Ive been doing the really hard random structures. Pretty much I have learned that nothing really beats the semi-auto Beowulf. Especially if you can find an Instigating version. Currently at 50 and haven’t looked for any Temples yet, having to much fun just “hunting.”
    Keep up the vids Wiz. Looking forward to watching more content.

      Those Beowulfs are pretty dang good, although I’m looking forward to a Drum Beat with explosive rounds!
      Two fighter ship builds coming up! Thanks for your continued support!

    People seem to underestimate Gravity Wave. It's useful for those situations when enemies are in your face and you're trying to reload. Give them a blast of it, reload, have a cup of tea and a slice of cake…and finish them off.

    • @WizeOldWizard
      @WizeOldWizard  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Honestly I really dislike Gravity Wave but that’s only based on having the base level of it. I find Anti-Gravity Field is much more useful, at least at its first level. Haven’t become a Starborn yet.

      @@WizeOldWizard I'm not Starborn yet either, but Gravity Wave only uses up 25 of your power and can literally knock anything on it’s arse. Treat it like an ‘in yo’ face’ shotgun. I save Anti-Gravity Field for when I’m being swarmed by a horde of enemies, especially alien creatures, to give myself breathing room. Plus it uses up 45 of your power.

    Did you know, that of you pick up a weapon, it's ammo ends up in your inventory, then if you don't want the weapon, you can just drop it.

    Two good ways to increase your piloting skills , the UC Vanguard flight simulator . And going to Krix and taking on several Crimson fleet at the same time . Otherwise it takes forever just flying around and getting in the odd combat situation . It's also cool when you get rank 6 on your flight exam for the Vanguard .

    • @WizeOldWizard
      @WizeOldWizard  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fuck that flight exam, crappy ship with crappy guns and a gang of OP enemies? Yeah if I was able to use any of my ship builds for that they’d all be toast with no friendly assistance.
      The best way to find ship combat is Serpentis anyway. Have you seen any of my combat footage from my ship builds?
      Also this series is all about FPS combat, not space combat.
      Thanks for watching!

    I finally watched it. Nice skyrim kill. This was fun to watch. I'm at level 139 now and I forgot how spungy those guys are earlier on. What you did in this video is pretty much my preferred method of leveling up, equipping myself, and making money. I maybe loot a little more than you. I like to take it all to the vendors after a while and buy a bunch of ammo, healing packs, and digipicks...then sell them weapons and armor to offset the expense/make a little money. And picking fights in space is STILL a really good way to level up. Picking fights with Terrormorphs is too, but quite a bit more expensive in ammo. Luckily Kore Kinetics likes to keep a lot of .50 MI on hand, because 'Revenant'.

    • @WizeOldWizard
      @WizeOldWizard  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It was fun coming up with shots and commentary on a completely different kind of video. And of course really fun capturing FPS action for a change. I’m excited to grow this series and see the difference of ability from start to finish.
      I can’t wait to go pick up the Revenant but I’m going to force myself to. I want a high-level Revenant. Thanks for the tip about ammo source! I’ve been stockpiling .50 MI in preparation.

      @maybedrinkin3241 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@WizeOldWizard I bet that is a nice change of pace for you. It's fun to watch and you've got a knack for narrative. I like the mix up. It's funny, I love the Revenant, but I don't actually use it that often. I'm generally a suppressed semi-auto user like a Beowulf or an A-99 and methodically make use of sneak bonuses. But when things get hairy, the Revenant is incredibly reliable against any type of foe. But it slurps up ammo for sure. First time I walked into Kore Kinetics, I was like, "sKORE Kinetics!".

    great video as always!! but i hated 2 things about it, and i mean hated! so i hated that the video was about 45 minutes, but maaaaann it didnt really feel like it! how do you make 45 min videos and not let us feel that length of time?
    and i hated that rng didnt give you better loot items! rng is kinda crap after the patches i think, even on 'very hard'
    looking forward to more great videos from you
    thank you for the amazing content always, and congrats on your combat progression!

    • @WizeOldWizard
      @WizeOldWizard  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Man I absolutely feel you on that one, and it was originally going to be over an hour long. Cutting 10 levels worth of in-game footage isn’t easy, and I wound up watching and trimming and re-watching until I wasn’t bored with the footage. Still finding the balance between a thorough presentation and unnecessary fluff. But hey if it kept you entertained and made 45 minutes pass without you realizing it, sounds like I did ok. Really appreciate your feedback!
      I am also 100% in agreement with you, RNGesus was definitely not kind to me on this run. Guess I need to provide more offerings to earn good graces… This calls for more Spacer and Va’ruun sacrifices!

    What the hell man, I have 12 bases and never has one of them been attacked in over 600 hours of playing. How do I make that happen ? Can I do something to make them wanna attack me?

    • @WizeOldWizard
      @WizeOldWizard  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Wanted trait helps, otherwise idk… I have a good bit of stored resources but by no means any massive quantities. The Kreet outpost that they attacked does produce some high value resources though.
      I have been attacked at several others too, but I don’t know how to increase the chance.
