back in the day we ran an extremely legit dicing clan and often got muted by other rival clans. to the point where we would hire random noobs and pay them 100-500k per hour to just sit there and advertise for us if we got muted. once dice bags and everything was taken away i remember people thinking World of Warcraft was going to be the next big thing. some tried WoW but got laughed at by everyone on the server until they backed up and quit.
Made 13k IRL as a host for dragon dyce, leader of the clan would fine people bills for speaking out of line, spent it all on a coke habit and made up some bullshit about his sick father to keep getting away with it, eventually the people underneath got jack of it, either scammed (leader would them reimburse their loss), or left cause it got too toxic and they were barely making anything with all the fines. Its was surprising how many people were willing to risk getting scammed, its not even funny.... They did pay out usually but somehow never got cleaned. Wish i had done some myself but never was into losing my bcp/tassies/ and fury I looted from falador because someone didn't make it to there gravestone in time[made like 20m off if not more]. Legit ONE of my favorite moments i ever had ingame

Actually every legal casino has almost a 50/50 win rate, it's usually regulated that the consumer wins 45% of the time. They do just fine on those margins.

If it were that simple, it would have been done already. The engine required a full transformation in RS3 before they could mostly handle the bot issue. OSRS is what it is. We get what we got back then (mostly) and an engine rewrite would likely not be worth the time or money required to do it at this stage. I will say one thing... jagex should stop corner cutting on employee hiring/wages if they really want to better control the current problem. Keep this in mind. Even blizzard is having, arguably, a bigger botting problem in WoW classic AND current retail than OSRS is right now. Botting scripts are becoming far better over time, and now both games have scripts that can basically set up new accounts for them, level them up, and are disposable depending on activities. Only thing I will concede here is that these corporations need to stop being so stingy and start doing what they did long ago. Spend money to make/maintain money.

I used to be a runescape gambling host, I might even have proof of big winnings when I used to gamble, I can say I made about 27b from gambling in runescape (About 30k usd at the time)
One small aside. I had to laugh at talking about how a win rate of 50% while gambling is unprecedented when it comes to casinos. I personally won a fair amount of money and lost it all playing roulette in Vegas. My method was just to alternate bets on color alone, it's the safest bet that is statistically a 50/50. Roulette is stacked against the player because of the 0 and 00 spots combined with the payouts being based on the odds if those 2 spaces were not on the board, giving the house the slightest advantage which is all they need. If it was pure 50/50 then they would make nothing and lose nothing, over a long enough time frame of course, and the bots are no different. For them to make money the odds have to be in their favour.

They can change the odds at any moment while it’s still advertised as the same. So it’s hard to follow a pattern that is erratic. Especially since these scripts can also recognize account names and have additional parameters to the script. One time I saw this guy always win but it never said his actual rsn. It would say ulxhost27 or some shit. And there were still several people trading this bot lmfao. The dude would quickly trade then run back into the crowd everytime and it would say like 300m winner.

You don't want the solution to screw over legit players. Technically, they could easily incorporate bot detection to strict, that it would likely destroy all bots in the game, but the cost would be that those players who are actually highly efficient and fast would get hit as well. Example, imagine a player using tick manipulation (which is 100% fine with the devs) getting flagged as a bot for clicking accurately and swiftly. There is a reason games don't have extremely harsh script detection. However, with that said... if they hired more people to the team to actively check strict reports manually rather than automatically, and then determine whether or not they should ban, then something like that could work. Sadly companies like blizzard and jagex would rather fire countless people rather than employ them, so both OSRS and both versions of WoW are plagued with bots.
I always bring this up with my friends that I used to scape with. I was a dice host back in the day and I remember I always argued with my friends that the house always wins. There was a lot of shady shit that went on with gold selling especially if you were part of the big clans paying a fee for a rank. Honestly nothing felt so good to make over 100m a hour just having people constantly come back and lose their bank to you. I had people that used to follow me world to world to advertise that I was a trustworthy host.

That’s why people can gamble with friends in their own home over a game of poker so long as there’s no rakes/entry fee in many parts of the USA. Games of chance are based purely on chance. Skill based games can still have “luck” elements to it but someone with the proper skill will always come out on top in the long run. Pking is not a game of chance. Yes you may get unlucky but players who are skilled will be far more profitable. It’s not all up to chance. In fact if someone was god awful there’s practically no chance a skilled pker would even die. Pking is like poker. Where as the duel arena is like a coin flip.

Also just because some pker is into the real world trading scene doesn’t mean it’s a game of chance. It may mean they are a degenerate and they treat pking like a vice but that does not make it a game of chance.
I'm a bit confused in this video (not entirely, as I know of many players releasing SCAM scripts), however, the earlier ages of these dicing bots were legit. One of my sources is my own research into the scene when I saw a youtube video of another creator talking about it. It later came to be that the original script writer that made a legitimate script stopped developing because of the competitive scripts were all rigged, and there's no point in making a legitimate one if there's so many unlegit scripts in the wild. Not to say the current ones are legit, but not entirely factual to assume they are all ran via SCAM scripts. The original writer went on to discontinue his project because you couldn't tell who was legit, and who wasn't. One of the biggest tells in the early days, if you wanted to know which was a scam bot and which was legit was the message, which later was adapted into scam scripts as well... The message would read [] Hosting (game) [] (ex: [5:43:45 GMT] Hosting 55x2 Min: 500K Max: 100M [5:43:45 GMT]. AFAIK later one the scam scripts picked up that people were seeing this, and they in fact started adding the syntax to their scripts, which is when the original developer stopped. Whether or not there are legit scripts in the wild, and they're not all shady, you shouldn't engage with them, as you're only going to keep giving them business. These are VERY profitable to run and operate with very minimal effort or losses as a legit user. There is ZERO reason to scam, as the video suggest HOUSE will ALWAYS win. Gamble responsibly, but most importantly understand by gambling with any dice bot/user you are at risk of losing your account due to Games of Chance affecting both the script owner / dicer and the player actually engaging with it.

What if... we put a guard at the ge that can detect certain keywords... and I dunno... maybe wreck the bots after those keywords are said too many times... and even minor variables could be accounted for..

You don't want the solution to screw over legit players.
Technically, they could easily incorporate bot detection to strict, that it would likely destroy all bots in the game, but the cost would be that those players who are actually highly efficient and fast would get hit as well. Example, imagine a player using tick manipulation (which is 100% fine with the devs) getting flagged as a bot for clicking accurately and swiftly. There is a reason games don't have extremely harsh script detection.
However, with that said... if they hired more people to the team to actively check strict reports manually rather than automatically, and then determine whether or not they should ban, then something like that could work. Sadly companies like blizzard and jagex would rather fire countless people rather than employ them, so both OSRS and both versions of WoW are plagued with bots.
I always bring this up with my friends that I used to scape with. I was a dice host back in the day and I remember I always argued with my friends that the house always wins. There was a lot of shady shit that went on with gold selling especially if you were part of the big clans paying a fee for a rank. Honestly nothing felt so good to make over 100m a hour just having people constantly come back and lose their bank to you. I had people that used to follow me world to world to advertise that I was a trustworthy host.

Wilderness is certainly more skill oriented. That’s like comparing poker to slot machines.
Yes there is still an element of chance in pking as it’s a rng based game but in the long run the skilled player comes out on top.

In the real world games of chance have different legal implications than games that take skill. That’s why people can gamble with friends in their own home over a game of poker so long as there’s no rakes/entry fee in many parts of the USA.
Games of chance are based purely on chance. Skill based games can still have “luck” elements to it but someone with the proper skill will always come out on top in the long run.
Pking is not a game of chance. Yes you may get unlucky but players who are skilled will be far more profitable. It’s not all up to chance. In fact if someone was god awful there’s practically no chance a skilled pker would even die.
Pking is like poker. Where as the duel arena is like a coin flip.

No because a skilled and experienced player is going to recognize when they are at a disadvantage and try to compensate for it. Same goes for pking. Same goes for poker. It’s a skilled based game where there’s some element of chance.
Also just because some pker is into the real world trading scene doesn’t mean it’s a game of chance. It may mean they are a degenerate and they treat pking like a vice but that does not make it a game of chance.

I'm a bit confused in this video (not entirely, as I know of many players releasing SCAM scripts), however, the earlier ages of these dicing bots were legit. One of my sources is my own research into the scene when I saw a youtube video of another creator talking about it. It later came to be that the original script writer that made a legitimate script stopped developing because of the competitive scripts were all rigged, and there's no point in making a legitimate one if there's so many unlegit scripts in the wild. Not to say the current ones are legit, but not entirely factual to assume they are all ran via SCAM scripts.
The original writer went on to discontinue his project because you couldn't tell who was legit, and who wasn't. One of the biggest tells in the early days, if you wanted to know which was a scam bot and which was legit was the message, which later was adapted into scam scripts as well... The message would read [] Hosting (game) [] (ex: [5:43:45 GMT] Hosting 55x2 Min: 500K Max: 100M [5:43:45 GMT]. AFAIK later one the scam scripts picked up that people were seeing this, and they in fact started adding the syntax to their scripts, which is when the original developer stopped. Whether or not there are legit scripts in the wild, and they're not all shady, you shouldn't engage with them, as you're only going to keep giving them business. These are VERY profitable to run and operate with very minimal effort or losses as a legit user. There is ZERO reason to scam, as the video suggest HOUSE will ALWAYS win.
Gamble responsibly, but most importantly understand by gambling with any dice bot/user you are at risk of losing your account due to Games of Chance affecting both the script owner / dicer and the player actually engaging with it.
