Maintaining the exact same pid you login with still exists in a lot of activities. It changes in combat activities like PVP and Staking, but there’s still ways to check your pid and take advantage of game mechanics

I used to do this back in the day, me and a buddy used to keep taking it in turns logging out and following each other to get the better PID. We did this when flower gambling was a thing and the big dycing clans were doing drop parties. We could pick everything up before the other people
Basically, the lower you're pid the sooner on the processing order you are. The game will process you picking up the item before it processes the other person's attempt. You get the item, and by the time it processes them picking it up, the item is not there.

Edit: The trade spam script I wrote actually sent the command to trade hundreds of times; 200 was just an example. It would keep sending trade requests until the target user lagged out. The caveat is that the account sending the trade requests would lag out too, so the idea was to stand nearby your staker and be ready to send the spam requests. It got to the point that people would only duel in areas that were hard to get to, so a level 3 couldn't wait nearby to send the requests. You wouldn't "instantly win," but you could effectively prevent the winner from logging in and picking up their loot off of the floor (there was no interface for items won on RSC; they simply dropped to the floor for you to pick up).

Pid ruined a couple of my skillers in classic as they were assigned a pid of a player who recently damaged an NPC but logged out. You would get the XP when another player killed the NPC in question, unless you logged out to get a different pid. And you would have no way of knowing this.

Damn I never heard of this before, glad you made a video about it. Helps me understand the game more
TODAY there are pid bots in duel arena that time intervals between fights so that they ALWAYS have pid; they typically take a LONG time to accept your challenge/rules so that this happens.
You can usually find them tent staking between lvl 90-110 combat and they typically have very high range and hp (85-99), 60ish defense, low pray (1-44) and str lvl that is exactly a new max hit (79,83,87, etc)
There is a way to trick the bot, and that is to relog between duels to give yourself a new pid number similarly to the ways of old. However, this doesn't guarentee you to have pid, only guarentees the bots to not be able to calculate the pid (if the stake is roughly 50/50 odds without taking pid into consideration, it is worth a try)
Well, PID is still important, but it's more of a random bonus factor than something that can be abused. In PvP people will tele out if they're at a disadvantage and also dont have PID.

tbh the only time pid matters is when ur rushing the best way if u fallow an alt at the ge near the edge when y got pid u step out and dbow spec step back in thw should die 80% of the time.
I miss when osrs was new. I created a 70 defence dharoker pvp account with the highest hp possible. I was around level 100 combat with 92 hp something like that. I had b gloves, vengence, fire cape etc. I would do high risk stakes most of the time. Sneaky g mauls to axe was pretty much the way to go. I made so much cash. Now everyone knows how to properly dharok pk and its much more difficult to make cash.
having good pid also helped you catch people in the wild in RSC as they were running aaway

I was never into staking, my friends were, but i did try it a few times, once i tried to secretly leave potions on so i could use extreme pots to hit more and have better defense. It worked 50% of the time and i did get some profit from it, but my favorite moment was when one dude noticed it and cancelled the challenge and said to me "Scrub ass kid", i dunno why, but that line just made me crack up for some reason and now i use that line with my friends from time to time as an inside joke.

This just proves that the PID system on OSRS is flawed that Jagex has it that PID "Randomises in fights?" Don't they know how this will affect PVP COMBAT?
Honest question though, who has actually Pked in Runescape in Pre Eoc? Personally I think alot of people have amnesia and don't know what they're talking about.
In Pre eoc both players had the same hitsplat delay when you're attacking each other. Consistent hitsplat delays make it more fair for both players and makes PvP combat far more balanced the skill-gap would increase significantly. If the Pre-Eoc PID system was implemented into OSRS then the meta would shift to actually being faster then your opponent whilst manipulating your overheads forcing them to change theirs this would be prioritised in PVP-combat
On OSRS It doesn't make sense for Player 1 to have their damage registered first over Player 2, Clearly player Player 1 has a advantage over Player 2 because of this and is unfair. It's inherently broken and damaging all of the PK scene on "Oldschool Runscape".
Rather than Relying on "PID Swaps/Your PID"
it's not consistent when this happens you cannot do other actions in that tick an example; switching overheads(prayer flicking) --> drinking potions(pot blocking) --> attacking your opponent(Attacking back) all in the same tick it cancels what your doing, because the Runetek 3 game engine is not designed for PVP of high skill level required the game will then try to prioritise eating food to health your hp rather then your other actions such as switching your prayers, switching your items and drinking potions.
However this game is just PVM garbage they way Jagex don't know any thing about PKING AT A HIGH SKILL LEVEL is because NONE OF THEM AT THAT LEVEL! THEY DON'T HYBRID, PURE NH ETC
HOW CAN SOMOENE , TRY TO CHANGE SOMETHING THAT THEY'VE NO KNOWLEDGE ABOUT? VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE.

I remember when I found out about the IP thing. Turned off my router for 2 minutes, plugged it back in, and the first IP I got xxx.xx.64.02 I was like, fuckin sweet. Made a shit ton from that
What not alot of people know. Is that before PID. There was IP. Some will understand. Some will not. Oh... nvm you talked about the IP issue. Yep. I remember having xxx.xxx.8.1 as my IP lol. And yes all this started with castle wars clans.

I just think the people who say they reset their ip think that typing ipconfig /release and /renew and seeing a new 192.168 address gives them a "new ip"
@David Saad The IP had nothing to do with PID. That was just a dumb thing people just believed cos someone said it and it kinda made sense. The reality is, there was 2048 possible pids, and you were assigned the lowest one available on login. When a server first came online, the first person in got the best possible pid. When they logged out, the next person to log in would get that pid. Anyone constantly resetting their IP to change their pid were just doing a stupid long way of changing their pid, logging out and in.

@@Vargas3499 I played a lot of Castle Wars back in the day, and it was legit. Granted, I do not know much about IP and how that effects your PID and all that, but I did notice an improvement when my IP would change to how he described in the vid. In CW, having a lower PID meant you would be the one that picks up the flag after it's dropped. Everyone knew who had high PID, and people would bring dragon spears to push the people with good PID (because they would obv get the flag almost every time) so they cant pick it up lol. Again, I don't know how it actually worked, but there definitely was a correlation in having higher PID if you had that 3rd # divisible by 8, and the 4th set closest to 0
Stakes is ok if you win a bit and then just tele out or tele out if lose. Made my 300m bank in 2 stakes so.

PID can be much more than a 52% advantage, it really depends on the type of account/weapons used.
For example if you're boxing on a 99 def account PID isn't as big an advantage, since the weapon you're using (bare hands) doesn't hit very high.
Alternatively, if you're dds staking on a 60 attack 99 strength 1 defense pure then PID would make a much higher impact, as most duels are over in 4 special attacks and one special can hit up to 40 - on a 1 def account with high PID I'd say it's closer to 70% win rate.

You forgot that after the IP-pid area there was a 2-3 week PID system where your pid auto lowered as you were online longer. So people who were close to 6h logging had the lowest pid. And there were other methods you didn't mention. Greets a professional RS staker 2013-2018. Btw Go long on bitcoin, new bull cycle bout to start.

Um I dont know about you guys, but I know the regular player at mid to max averages 40 to 120mil a year in gp. As in that's there gp stack over a year of countless dedication and hours.
I would rather go in 5 mill get 100m then purchase my buyable skills and repeat for armor. Just me. I would say that's the meta.

similar thing existed in rsc for pking. lower pid had the ability to chase and catch people in the 3 hit combat system. Old RS bot used to spam log you in and out until you had low as possible pid, so you could catch people but they couldnt catch you haha. all these people talking about rs2 or rs3 being og, RSC was where it was fucken at.
