I would have liked seeing the reassembly of the camera. Also the soldering, pin removal, tinning, insertion. Those are critical steps. How about gluing the rubber on? Nice job regardless.

Nice job. My 40D has the same problem - I'm afraid I am not as skilled as you... so I do not think I'll be able to fix it. :(

I wish the reassembly was also shown in your video. That was probably trickier than taking it apart. It would;ve been informative to see & hear what you had going on while that was happening. Thanks again for the informative video. Oh yeah... if you have plans to be in New Jersey with your tools some day soon, would you want to stop in to tinker with my camera? I'll make you an awesome lunch and treat you to some cold beers.... :)

What a task! To design a camera where you need a soldering iron to take out a board is poor design. Think I might just replace the camera body with a camera which used SD cards. No pins! I have 4 lenses and the value is in the lenses, not the body.

Thank you!! I followed the instructions, but I managed to just unbend a few of the CF Card reader pins back into place and the camera works. There's a bunch of screws you removed at the start that probably could have stayed in. And then, in my case, to access to CF card reader pins, it was not necessary to remove that black cable or any of the top-side cables attached from the bottom. That way, the board could just be flipped up without the hassle of replacing fiddly cables. I did have to repeat the process 4-5 times as I couldn't get the camera to start back up. I had accidentally pulled out a ribbon cable from the other (hidden) end. Whole process took me a while, but really useful to have your video!

Very very tiny parts that's not so easy to even comprehend it ! Challengeable task ! Fine sir.

I have exactly the same problem, one pin is missing completely and the other ping is bent, also Error99.
I did find the missing pin inside the camera, resoldered it and straighten the crooked second pin.
