    Thanks for everyone's interest! Unfortunately, I don't currently sell these cases, but if anyone is interested in licensing the idea for production, I'm happy to talk.
    Also, for questions on why I don't use a scanner, please refer to the video description. Thanks!

    Using a mirror to align the camera is brilliant! It easily solves the problem of being perpendicular to the surface. Thanks for this invaluable tip.

    I wonder what extra work that photo copy stand has had done to it in the last 5 years?
    It's a great solution to a particular problem.

    Thank you Wesley. This is a nice build. I have about 500 photos to copy and your ideas are really excellent. Sorry you didn’t make your deadline. This would have done well. It serves a need.

    The finished product looks just awesome. I'm sure a lot of thought went into that project. I just miss a stand for the camera integrated in the design, but of course that would compromise the design. And no one knows how important those little details are until you have to digitize 2000 prints, with many different print sizes.

  • @JonPrevost
    @JonPrevost 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I like the project. One thing I noticed was your glare issue. Have you tried to position the angles of the lights such that they don't reflect off the photo surface directly? A more obtuse light reflection would give less glare without needing a polarizer.
    Great job with the magnet idea! I think that will be my first version though I'm more inclined to keep building a vacuum hold-down using perforated metal with a speaker fabric on-top.
    Oh, one more thing I noticed was the reflective hinges! Might paint those flat black.

    Great projetct! I love the rythm you used in the sound edit. I'm pretty sure, you would have won. :D
    Also it's awesome to see your face glare up the moment you talk about the space you left for the hinges' rubber feets. You must have been really proud to have thought about that.

    I know this was made 5-6 years ago, but you can now get high Color Rendering Index (CRI) led strips that have better color rendering capability than florescent lights, but they are about $100 for 5 meters, so it is not a cheep option.

    I admire your skills. But I would rather buy a scanner cause they are cheap, and there are now scanners that scan directly to SD cards and there are also handheld portable. This set up I think is more suited maybe for macro photography, instead of power adapter just use battery so you can take it in the field.

    • @dorin_stanciu
      @dorin_stanciu 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Scanners are slow, very slow. And it's one more piece of equipment to buy. With a scanner you can't get RAW quality. It's much faster, easier and versatile to use a camera.

    Great design and superb execution. This can also be used to photograph small craft items, for posting to sites like Etsy, or the like. There are light tents available, but portability, durability and variable usage makes your design very attractive. Before sharing with my handier friends, is this something you have made to sell? If so, I'll monitor the replies, otherwise thanks for creating and sharing your vision.

    I am so jealous of your skills and the design... it's perfect for what you need it to do. I am trying to photograph coins so I have to have them flat on the table and a commercial copy stand is just to big for my small home.... I tried.... Couldn't eat at the dining table for months. The colour temperature issue isn't difficult to sort out - simply take one shot of a grey card/colour chart and use that shot to calibrate your white balance in whatever software you use (Lightroom for instance), then simply apply that adjustment to all your other shots. Colour temperature correction with one click, easy.

    Well, you must have frightened potential DIYers to judge by the number of views and comments. You maxed out on caloric input where simplicity would have sufficed. Inimitable in more than one sense!
