It's amazing. I don't know how much to get flying license in your country, but definitely much easier than in Russia ( It looks like to drive a car, but in 3d. Nature is impressive! Hopefully I get there one day..
It would be very cool to be able to fly in Russia, probably much like Alaska, but bigger. So vast an area to explore. It would be a bush pilots paradise.
I flew into Chelatna Lake lodge back in 1989 in my 170 { 5786} on skiis. It had just snowed 30'' and it was a bear getting out of there . My homestead was in Yenlo Mts. {20 miles awy} and was delivering some groceries from Big Lake to the lake. Boy, they built alot more cabins since the 80s and 90s. . Back then everybody knew everybody but in winter there is only 1 person caretaking the property . Later I moved to McGrath and flew outta there. Now, that was a wild place.
Hey Jon, wow what beauty!! Alaska is hard to explain to someone that has never been up there. I was stationed in the Army up on a mountain near Fairbanks for almost 2 years, what an experience that was. We played in the "Midnight Sun Softball Tournament" against Air Force and other Army teams. It's just like it says Midnight Sun, we played one game at Midnight and of course there are no need for lights on the field, it was kinda surreal doing that. We weren't too far from the Arctic Circle and the weather there was lots different than down around Anchorage as you probably know. But anyway thanks for sharing your flights they brought back lots of memories of over 50 years ago when I was there. I'll have to say hasn't changed much, LOL.!! Looking forward to see more of your adventures up in Alaska.
WOW that short final control jam. I will always remember the Kings talk about load management and how important it is. As I remember they had an off airport landing in which some tools were in the back seat and turned into flying daggers. Another case I remember was a man flying with his dog who managed to jam the controls somehow. In this case you definitely could have been killed by pizza and made your final headlines. Good lesson for everyone now that we fly with so much stuff in the cockpit that could pose an unseen hazard.
Stunning Jon! We fly every where we can with our TR182 RG but nothing would be better than some tailwheel and big wheels up in AK. It is a dream of ours to do one day and stay up at the Ultimathule Lodge. I'll let them do the flying though since I have zero backcountry or tailwheel time....LOL! What an adventurous weekend Jon. Putting this in the top 5 of my bucket list.
Your rockn the Bearhawk brother and underrating yourself, you did excellent! The Patrol's utility strength is far more valuable than winning stol competition's. When my strike comes in at my Gold Claim, I am going to buy every model Bearhawk makes. Good job!
FLY8MA.com Flight Training. I have a friend/coworker that use to work on the north slope/Prudhoe Bay and lived in Fairbanks. I live vicariously through him! I have my private SEL & MEL license with an HP endorsement. Would love to spend sometime and fly around up there....in nice weather! LOL! I hope my power ball numbers hit! 😂
It’s a real pleasure to watch your videos when you’re a flight of two. My wife is my XC navigator/extra eyes in our C182. Maybe the day will come when we fly side-by-side like the days we rode our cruisers CHIP style on interstates and country highways. Keep em coming.
Wow, that looks more fun than flying the pattern at Venice! Thanks for your awesome online ground school and written test prep lessons though; nearing the end of my private pilot training now and your courses have been a huge help. Would love to do some back country flying one day!
FLY8MA.com Flight Training , you all back in Alaska this summer? I followed your flying around Alaska last summer! I live up here, been lucky to fly with some of Alaska’s great bush pilots over the years, you can relate to my favorite Alaskan saying, “ you can see more in one day flying in Alaska, then most people see in a lifetime”!!! So true.
Very enjoyable. I like the new graphic lettering. Points out stuff my non-piloted eyes would normally not see. Like that itty bitty airport off to the left. yeah the one that looks like a bike trail.
I like this video , this is a good things to do and nice place for living ... . but im to far away from that live.. im here in the Netherlands Flying and nature :-) i love it
wow - I want to do that! COVID-19 still has things upside down, but this is going on my bucket list! The C-172 and Cherokee are both fun, but I'd love to learn some tail-dragger skills. Love your vids, cheers from Vancouver BC!
I was once on a flight in a P3 Orion from Japan to Whidbey island WA and had to make an emergency landing in Alaska where we were broke down and stranded for 5 days . I remember when we were on final we had to go around because a moose was standing right on the center line....Would love to go back and visit (on my terms) hahaha
How close were you to the trees on final at Talkeetna? From the video it looked like about 3 inches, but I'm sure it was much more than that. Maybe as much at 15 inches? ;-)
Very nice entertaining video! Thanks for sharing. Quite similar to our backcountry video (also with a Patrol) inflight camera angles, etc, but you've added the drone footage and narrative, which adds a lot. Question: What is that hanging just in front of your tail wheel? Looks like a camera but don't see any footage from that viewpoint.
I'm a professional aviator with over 25,000 accident free hours. As soon as I saw this fellow trying to make a joke out of his unsecured gear jamming up his flight controls, etc., that was it for me.
They both go in a carrier or we let them sit on the seat on longer flights and put them away for landing. Both refuse to wear the mutt muffs and they don't seem to work at all anyways.
I have lived in interior Alaska for 16 years and you truly can not find a more beautiful place.
The alaska range is pretty special!
This is an amazing video. What a stunning trip! An absolute dream.
Thank you! Its a ton of fun being able to do this type of flying with our students and guests up here!
It's amazing. I don't know how much to get flying license in your country, but definitely much easier than in Russia ( It looks like to drive a car, but in 3d. Nature is impressive! Hopefully I get there one day..
It's an amazing place here in Alaska!
It would be very cool to be able to fly in Russia, probably much like Alaska, but bigger. So vast an area to explore. It would be a bush pilots paradise.
This is just a fantasy tailwheel camping trip. I am envious.
Looks like you set a new standard for your videos putting you in the likes of Trent and Josh...great work!
With the production of an aviation TH-cam video like this, Trent now officially has competition!

This whole film was fantastic, beautiful views. Thanks for sharing.

How and where do you secure the dogs? What special considerations do they need? Mutt muffs, pressure changes, harness/seatbelts, cage?! Thanks
They both go in a carrier or we let them sit on the seat on longer flights and put them away for landing. Both refuse to wear the mutt muffs and they don't seem to work at all anyways.
